Community - Part 3

So am I the only one loved the episode? Sure it felt off but we just haven't gotten used to this season's style. The show reinvents itself each season. This is no different.

You're not the only one. I enjoyed it as well. I haven't felt the change that everyone talks about.

I liked it didn't love it but I've liked other Community episodes in the past too. Harmon & Co. weren't churning out classics every week.

They also lost three other top writers so of course the show will likely take a hit.

The funny thing is that all of NBC's comedies are ratings disasters, combine that with The Office and 30 Rock ending NBC may pick up the show for another 13 episodes which some fans will hate.

i really liked the episode. it wasn't the best episode, but it wasn't the worst either.

Just watched the new episode, this show is officially boring for me now. I laughed more during the new episode of Supernatural than I did this (Jensen Ackles' reactions shots are the best). I loved it in S2 and S3, but now I think I'm done with it.

That already started to happen last season, IMO. For all the praise fanboys give him, they seem to ignore that Harmon is the one who started the Flanderization of this show. I was hoping a new showrunner could get it back on track, back to season 2 form....neither ridiculously meta or ridiculously safe. Looks like we're just going to get deeper and deeper into the Flanderization that Harmon started. Oh well, I'll stick around to the end, regardless as it is still enjoyable.

Oddly enough, I am guessing if Dan Harmon were still on the show, his fans would be praising this as the greatest episode yet and calling all of the meta stuff brilliant. Look at how much undue praise the 8-bit episode gets, after all.

I strongly disagree. The difference is that Harmon's show felt authentically odd. You may think it got too meta or obscure in the third season, but each episode felt like a concept or idea being put together, even the bad ones. This felt very generic TV sitcom-y, even as they mocked the 4-camera style.

It is only one episode in, so I will give it more time, but I will not pretend it has not changed.

So you loved S2 and S3...you see the first episode of S4 and you're done just like that?

Wow.

Even though I wasn't a fan of the episode, there is no way I'm giving up on it yet.

Hell the writer of the episode said they tried to do too much for one episode. So him admitting that gives me hope for the rest of the season.

Eehh...didnt care for this eppie. But ill stick around. Parks and Rec has also felt off since Leslie became a counselman, yet I still watch it, so whatever. Not every show can be 30 Rock.

They did try too hard with this one. Hunger Games and turning into cartoons in the same episode is a little much.

This episode had way too much going on. It wasn't awful but it wasn't great. Definitely not the worst episode of the show though, in my opinion (the one that bothered me the most would have to be the Season 1 finale).

I don't understand this logic. At least give it a couple of episodes. It's not like every episode of season 2 and 3 were classics.

He's not done. You can bank on that…

Just like those dudes that'll jump the gun after seeing an iffy movie trailer and VOW not to see it when its released in theaters.

Yeah, whatever…you're seeing it.

Yeah don't understand why the hatred of the episode. I was one of the ones expecting the worse and I think we got a pretty decent episode. Scratching my head over the it sucked attitude. I remember seeing lamer episodes in the previous seasons.

This show is going into Scrubs territory, and by that I mean that what was once cool with the unique zany-ness has now defined the show and feels "put on" rather than natural because that's what Community "should be" rather than what it is.

I've felt this way since most of the previous season.

The episode did feel like they were trying too hard, or something was off. Not terrible, but just kind off odd, like running into an ex-gf and having to force conversation with her.

It was alright, but the writing didn't feel right

"Paranormal Parentage" - While on their way to Vicki's (Danielle Kaplowitz) Halloween costume party, the study group makes a detour to Pierce's (Chevy Chase) mansion when they learn he accidentally locked himself in his panic room. As Pierce languishes behind locked doors, the group searches the dark and eerie house for the book that holds the code to the door. Along the way they encounter a few of the house's secrets.

aparently there is a good chance that this show might get renewed now.

Hmmm we shall see how much the ratings decline from that. A lot of the people in this thread are being pretty vicious towards it. I wonder how that is gonna reflect in the ratings. I enjoyed the season premiere and I expected the worst. I'm definitely gonna keep watching.

Yeah with 30 Rock over and The Office wrapping up and a lot of the other shows on the fence I think that is definitely a good thing for Community because I do think NBC recognizes it has a pretty loyal fanbase if they think they can maintain the quality.
