Constantine General Discussion Thread - Part 1

That's actually pretty damn awesome. I love when stars do stuff like that.

Edit: As Arrow probably not but having him on there could mean a potential cross over should they ever decide to pull that.

There's always adapting that scene from that one issue of Green Arrow John pops up in.

Which network could it go to?
SyFy and the USA Network are owned by NBC Universal so it seems unlikely to go there.

I can't see the likes of HBO, AMC, A&E or Showtime picking up Constantine without the show undergoing a serious revamp because currently it wouldn't fit in with their content.

I think BBC America is a possibility. AMC brought a 50% stake in the network earlier this year and are looking to develop more shows after the success of Orphan Black.

With a British lead and genre following that would fit in with their current line up, I could see them possibly being interested in Constantine.

Constantine with fit in well on Fox alongside shows like Sleepy Hollow and Gotham but I don't think it would last one season because they are one of the most ruthless networks when it comes to ratings.

That's an awesome gesture by Amell, hopefully it helps Constantine find a new home.

Then there's FX, Starz and Netflix

William Shatner added,
Daniel Cerone @DanielVCerone

.@WilliamShatner So Bill can we look forward to a guest star from you if #Constantine finds a new home @CW_network? Kent Nelson perhaps?

Id like to see him as Kent Nelson. Then just have someone else when he turns into Dr. Fate

Then there's FX, Starz and Netflix

Would make a good double bill with The Strain on FX. I would be down with Starz for all the unnecessary nudity :woot:

I don't think Netflix would be interested given their current commitment to Marvel's Defenders shows.

Again, I don't think there's any way a network not affiliated with Warner picks this show up. It just doesn't make sense economically.

It'll either be a streaming service, a Warner network (CW, WGN, TNT, etc) or (most likely) nobody at all.

That's the thing. They're not bound to only one studio. Its not like Feige or Perlmutter would get *****y if it happens anymore than they havent whrn it comes to Fox's agreement for Gotham to stream tthere. So, the Defenders and Constantine would coexist freely

This being on the same channel as The Strain would be great, they are similar sort of shows.

I almost forgot about The Strain. First thing that came to mind when I menmentioned FX was AHS

Arrow's Stephen Amell Says Any DC TV Show Can Crossover, Reveals Previous Constantine Discussions

During an appearance at Wizard World Philadelphia Comic Con, Stephen Amell was asked if he and Grant Gustin might be put into the upcoming Justice League movies.

Amell replied, “As of right now, the movie universe and the television universe are very, very separate. I mean we’ve seen Ezra Miller, who’s going to play The Flash in one of the upcoming films, and even on the Suicide Squad, we have a whole slew of characters that are now representing the Suicide Squad. And the Suicide Squad is at least for the foreseeable future is not going to be featured on Arrow. So we’re keeping those universes separate.”

Of course, Amell’s answer came as no surprise, because it was pretty clear that different actors were being cast in the same roles for the DC movie and TV universes. However, Amell then went on to say something very interesting, as he revealed that crossovers were possible for any of the DC television shows, even ones on different networks.

“On the B side, there is an opportunity for interconnectivity with any DC television show that exists,” explained Amell. “Like, as an example, yesterday Constantine was cancelled. And there is…yeah, I know, it’s brutal…it’s a good show, and it should come back. And it may come back, like there are various platforms where it could come back.”

Amell continued, “Now, Constantine was an NBC show. I’m on The CW. I had had discussions with DC… so not NBC, not CW… but with DC Entertainment about guest starring on Constantine when it was still on the air. And that was and is still on the table. So we have Flash, we have Legends of Tomorrow, a new show which is directly connected to the Arrow universe, we have Supergirl… she got picked up, directed by my good friend Glen Winter, that pilot, I can’t wait to see it, I’m sure it’s going to be amazing… there’s Gotham obviously, and I’m missing something… Titans, there you go. So again I wouldn’t worry too much about the movie universe, because we have no shortage of options for me and other characters to populate.”

But what would have led Arrow to appear on Constantine? Amell explained, “The reason that I was going to guest star on Constantine, at least the idea that we were throwing around was he’s an expert when it comes to the Lazarus Pit, which is now something that is a part of and will continue to be a part of Arrow.”

Amell also went on to voice his support for Constantine returning on another network.

“I think that all the support that it got, Geoff Johns at DC was supporting it, Jim Lee was supporting it, I think Grant [Gustin] was throwing a little weight behind it, as he should, because that dude is a heavy weight in the DC television universe,” said Amell. “I don’t know how it would play. I just think that it deserves an opportunity. I really do.”

That's so good to hear that guys from DC and the other CW shows are actively fighting for the show. I don't think it'll do us any good, but it's encouraging for current and future DC shows.

Who's "us"?

i bet you can't wait for this to end.:sly:

I watched every episode. I liked 11 of the 13. I never wanted it to get cancelled, and I still want it to be revived on another network. I have even suggested which outlets I think would be likeliest, if any, to revive the show.

See my signature? I have it ranked above Arrow and I still watch every episode of that.

I said all along it was going to get cancelled and I gave reasoned, coherent arguments for why I thought so. I'd rather have been wrong and gotten more episodes. You and a few others just didn't like it when I called out the ridiculous spin people were putting on the cold hard facts.

I made similar commentary about the chances of other shows like Gotham, SHIELD, Carter, iZombie, etc. Even when I stopped watching Gotham and SHIELD I discussed their ratings and openly rooted for them to get renewed. It's just that, objectively, Constantine's chances were a lot less realistic than those of any of the other shows.

I can and do distinguish between my subjective evaluation of a show's quality and an objective evaluation of its prospects for success.

TheCW would be a fine place for it. Though I doubt they want it.

why would you doubt that ? stephen amell digs the show and has been saying alot about how he wants to guest star.

the only problem is, i don't want a john constantine that's more neutered than he already was by NBC.
