Well, there goes my only reason for watching the show.

... Ok.

Brian Azzarello's run was good I think. I've not heard many people give his run praise enough.

Mostly because Azz was writing John in his familar trappings at the time (I.e. 100 Bullets) compared to his writing on Wonder Woman. Plus as one VFB poster put it: Constantine may be a b*stard but he's not a catch you next tuesday

Not too impresse by the pilot. It was ok. I'll watch, I can't not watch. A least it was decent and The Flash an Gotham look great

Pilot was pretty cool imo, sucks about losing the chick i thought she added a interesting dynamic.

Constantine Casts Telemundo Star as New Female Lead, Hellblazer's Zed
By Vlada Gelman / July 13 2014, 3:11 PM PDT

NBC’s Constantine has found its new leading lady.

Telemundo star Angelica Celaya, whose stateside credits include Dallas and Burn Notice, has been cast in the upcoming NBC drama as Zed, it was announced Sunday at the Television Critics Assoc. summer press tour in Beverly Hills.

A character from the original Hellblazer comic book series, Zed is a psychic who already has powers when she encounter Constantine (played by Matt Ryan) in the TV series.

“She’s someone who can go toe-to-toe with John,” executive producer Daniel Cerone said. “She’s intuitive. She can detect bulls–t,” whereas Lucy Griffiths’ exiting alter ego Liv — one of the writers’ own inventions — was “very wide-eyed [and] reactive.”

“We felt a bit hamstrung” by Liv’s nature, Cerone admitted. Zed also brings with her an “interesting dark past,” EP David S. Goyer teased.

Although Liv still appears in the pilot, Goyer said that one scene from the episode will be reshot — and in sharing that, he perhaps let slip a bit of a spoiler when describing how Liv’s absence will be addressed going forward.

“[John's] friends drop like flies,” Goyer said. “He is this classic noir character who often ends up alone, and we thought it was kind of consistent with the character.”

I hope what they reshoot is John taking a drag on the cigarette...

I dunno if that'll ever happen :/ Maybe in the finale. The non smoking is a big turn off for me

ouch, replacing the actress could mean two things. Either the actress was terrible in the original pilot, or the character didn't work for a recurring role in the show.

I saw the pilot and I thought it was alright, the main lead girl was okay, i mean, it was a pilot, she is beautiful and cute, but i didn't feel like she acted terrified of what she was experiencing. At the same time, I don't see her being helpful in the show, she had psychic abilities, whooptido. I think they wanted to give Constantine a love interest, and if the article is saying that in the comics, this new character was his love interest, than it makes sense. SO, it may have been the characger didn't work (just like in the movie with Rachel Weiz)

So the first season is loosely based on the Murder of Crows written by Alan Moore. Which is a good start.

That plus a mix of the first 12 issues of Hellblazer = damn good tele for Fall '14?

Hell yeah!

That's interesting but I'd rather have Dr. Fate be the spinoff. I'm not a fan of the
Spectre for superficial reasons I have a strong dislike for his costume.

No, Swamp Thing. Because 1)The wide audience need to experience a famliar area and figure when we first met Constantine all those 29 years ago and 2) It'd be very fitting for Swampy to be spun-off from the show.

Fate and the Spectre can settle for TV Movies or Specials

Timothy Hunter and the Books of Magic could be a great story arc for a future season.

The problem with this would be they would have to change the perspective from Timothy to John. And John would have to be Tim's guide throughout his journey.

Another problem might be the comparison to Harry Potter, but who knows it could work on TV.

And Zatanna should eventually make an appearance! Multi-episode arcs please!

Watched the pilot. Really, really liked it. Looking forward to the rest of the series.

I'm glad that they are keeping the killing off of Constantine's supporting cast.

Goyer says
Constantine is a smoker, but we just won't actually see him smoke.
