Cop handcuffs teen over sex with daughter

To be fair, while I don't agree with C. Lee's reasoning with respect to this situation, the argument has become confused. I think C. Lee's argument has more to do with why males in these instances are the ones more commonly vilified rather than the mental and emotional state of this particular pair of teens.

It seems as though you're trying to frame this as outside the context of consentual sex, to be honest.
She was 14.
Since we don't have all of the facts, maybe we should refrain from assuming he pressured and intimidated her into it, and that she felt subservient to him.
I didn't say he did...I said it was a big possibility.

In any event....people are acting like I'm trying to force my opinion on them instead of just offering one for them to contemplate....so have fun guys, see ya in the funnypapers.

It seems to me the boy got off lightly by only being handcuffed. Unless the father if the girl clamped the handcuffs on a part of the boy not used to being shackled in such a manner. :O

Regardless, I hear a lot about kids reaching puberty faster these days. That's utter nonsense. At the beginning of the last century if you were not married and pregnant with your first child by the age of 13, you were considered an 'old maid'. Granted, you weren't expected to live much past 30 either, but 100 years isn't a huge ammt of time when you are talking about evolution, either.
Don't be so quick to pass judgement om the boy being the only 'guilty' party in this situation either. There is a lot of pressure on teen girls to dress, act, and be a certain way nowdays. It's all the rage to have a Baby Daddy. Maybe she was just trying to fit in. And we all know how much pressure there is to do that, at that age.

Incidentally the age of consent in most states is 16. That's the age the law recognizes as someone being able to have the understanding of the consequences of having sex. If a 15 year old and a 14 year old are trying to do the nasty, anything short of killing them to keep them from having sex should be protected under the law.

You're making the assumption that environmental factors can't play a role.

I still don't think 16 is a good number for 'age of consent'.

If anyone is curious, here is a state by state listing of the 'age of consent'.

Your condescension is unnecessary.

Did I kick your dog one day? Did I get your sister pregnant? Did I take the last candy bar you wanted? This jumping on everything I say is getting pretty ridiculous. SEE YOU IN THE FUNNYPAPERS is a saying I have used for over 40 years after hearing some comedian say it when I was a kid. I don't remember if it was Abbott and Costello, the Three Stooges, Jimmy Durante, or who.....but it's not condescending, it's just another way of saying SEE YA LATER ALLIGATOR....which to me is saying I'm no longer participating in this conversation, so I'll talk to you somewhere else.

So again I ask....what exactly is your problem?

I'm pretty sure you stole my last Snickers candy bar in the employee lounge though. :cmad:

Your name wasn't on it...so it was fair game.

Nope. I'm saying that 99.9999% of the things she reads, watches, and hears about....is how men are superior and women are supposed to be subserviant to men. Things like that tend to instll a mindset of subservience...it makes women feel like they are inferior and that it is wrong to question or say no to a man about things even she doesn't want to do it.

Okay well what about things like having a woman running for president? or having a female secretary of state? wouldn't that install a mindset of independence in some girls?

I always love that response.

If you have been made to feel inferior to a person or group all of your life. If you have been told that that person or group is better than you, superior to you, smarter than you, and it has been shown that they have more political power, financial power, physical power than you.....and that peron or one of that group comes to you and asks and or demands something (such as sex) from you.....would you call that rape or physically forcing themselves upon you? I would.

You like to paint these perfect little scenarios for your argument, I'll play along. I would call that physically forcing themselves upon someone. This girl had a voice, she had the option to say no despite what you might think.

I don't. You don't know if it was or wasn't either. We have to speak in generalities and precedants in situations like this. I was using that as an example. It was an example to show the youth of the girl (14 year olds not as prepared for everything the world offers as 14 year olds think they are)...it was an example of the general situation around the world and in the US where even though there has been advances, this is still a male dominated society.

Well this is why we don't generalise things like this. You might feel the world works this way but it doesn't.

Don't take this the wrong way...but how old are you?

27, and don't worry I didn't.

Things like that are definitely major steps forward in women's equality, but the same girls who may be encouraged by such things also see the intense and frankly disproportionate level of scrutiny that such women are subjected to, including all the incessant attention on what they're wearing and how long their skirt is and what their daughters are like, and etc.

Maybe. But them being a couple of horny teenagers seems just as if not more likely.

I am less worried about the cop & the kid taking advantage of this girl. & more worried about C. Lee knowing about everything she watches & reads. A over 40 year old man should not be stalking a girl of that age.
