Apocalypse Costumes of the 80s

If Wolverine's mask is deemed too silly for the films, then it's up to the writers and directors to devise a plotline where it isn't silly.

There are ways of doing these things.

Maybe Wolverine needs to hide his identity in the new, reset timeline.

Maybe he wears it for a mission because it gives him some additional benefits like night vision, etc.

Maybe Apocalypse gives him the mask as part of his transformation into Death.

Maybe it's a theatrical costume he grabs to put on (as in the Aronofsky script for The Wolverine).

There are ways and means of doing these things. Yes, it's going down the road of fan-service, but it is also a part of his classic comic book imagery.

For every awesome movie mask/helmet (Spidey, Batman), there's a Captain America in the first Avengers movie. What was Joss thinking...

Wolverine is known for his claws and attitude then his mask I dont even recall him wearing a mask in the ultimate line

A lot of the costuming in the X-Men comics are just harder to pull off in live action. Daredevil/Spiderman/Batman hide their identity. Fantastic Four have matchy suits. Iron Man wears a mechanical suit. Thor is from fantasy land. Captain America's costume is inspired by the American flag.

I would love for them to appear closely to their most iconic six one six costume but their costumes have different color scheme, different details, I feel like they just wear it for style and because the artist decided to gave them one because they have powers. The only thing that is really needed is the X symbol to represent that they are the X-Men.

They already gave them some costuming that doesn't have a real reason. Magneto's cape, Storm's cape... they don't really have a practical purpose.

So they can 'push the boat out' a bit further, I think.

I also think that they are a superhero team most of the time unlike the members of the Avengers work against that they shouldnt be wearing matching outfits. Hawkeye and Falcon (who didnt headline their own movie) arent wearing their most iconic sixonesix costume.. we have yet to see Black Widow with the gold belt and Nick Fury is based from the Ultimates... what about the X-Men? so far Wolverine is the only one with a solo film.

I think Storm and Magneto were given a cape because they can fly.. even Polaris has one these day abd she flies... but yeah its mostly for style.

This looks crazy good! The reset future does allow certain new avenues to be explored involving the mask, but I could see the franchise's hesitation to use it this far along into the game.

Really dig the other concept art being thrown around here too. Would definitely like to see some color thrown into the costuming of the X-Men. I've never minded the leather, but can't help but drool over some of the variations I've seen teh past few pages.

I'm looking forward to the hair styles of the 80s! Since I was born in 87 I don't much but it'll be fun to Cyclops with a mullet or short on the sides curly on top for the girls either a long bang n big and curly. I'd like to see Mystique with her short cropped cut!

None of those reasons make sense.

I'm surprised nobody suggested the obvious "apocalypse kits him out with full costume"

Storm's cape does have a practical use - it assists in keeping her afloat as she flies. Same probably for Magneto's, although his is probably moreso for show than anything else. I guess they could do something with Wolverine's mask the same way they made Catwoman's ears in TDKR more practical. It just still looks really silly on an actual person...

I thought they were going to do some sort of samurai mask thing for The Wolverine. Kind of a missed opportunity.

Maybe it was given to him by someone he really respected? Who knows. Everyone keeps bringing up that Batman, Daredevil and Spider-Man masks are meant to be all about keeping their identity secret? ********. They'd just wear a ski mask. That's just what the character looks like. Take liberties, sure, but don't change the way he looks. Find a way to make it work. If you're going to throw your arms up and say "I dunno..." then let somebody else tackle the characters.

It's like the Tim Burton Superman movie - in this case a lot of you are Tim Burton.

He's maskless in the comics all the time. So... everything you just said is incorrect.

So is Spider-Man, so is Batman, Superman is without his suit all the time. The list goes on. Point is, we've got 6 (7 if you count first class) with him not wearing the mask. They even found a way to introduce it in The Wolverine and Singer would've had a fit so it was cut.

Yep. That was my first thought. Her costume is gaudy enough to work straight out.

Jubilee had the sunglasses and yellow coat in X1 so why not.

After seeing the Deadpool reveal there's no reason why the X-Men can't have comic book accurate individual costumes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Please, Louise Mingenbach, don't disappoint me :csad: !

She was CD on second gi Joe which did threw in a souple more accurate GI costumes.

Superman returns had superhero outfit for superman.I realize many disagree with me on film around here but that was a superhero outfit not black leather outfit.
