Apocalypse Costumes of the 80s

For example:
comic, cartoon, movie

(Not that the costumes above are exactly the same, just an example.) In the comics and cartoons the materials are usually drawn without much texture. When I say I want it to look sort of like that design, I imagine the materials and colors will look like the last pic.

or like this comparison:

which actually have a few similarities haha.

Between those X-men: Evolution and Alex Ross designs, really though, do we want teens in skin-tight spandex in different colours?

They'd look like Power Ranger rejects.

I meant something like the look and colours of the costumes, not what they'd be made out of.

I don't know what kind of designs I would like to see, but I hope they try something different and mix it up a little.

I'd like to see a Black and Yellow combination for these costumes. A little something like this:

Except, y'know without the underwear on the outside. I know that's not Black, but Navy Blue, but you see my point.

Uniformity would be nice for costumes just no leather outfits this time, each character can have a different color just to accent there uniform and it won't look like power rangers they don't need that much color but just some would be nice.

In line with that and the DOFP unnused concept art and the costume at the end of the Wolverine, I whipped this up:

I'm kinda glad they ditched Wolverine's mask for these movies. It would just look a little weird in live action to me.

No mask. It looks goofy in the comics and cartoons, it would look worse in the films.

Batman's Mask
Magneto's Helmet
Spider-Man's suit
Superman's suit
The costumes and masks of everyone in Watchmen
****ing Rocket Raccoon

The only reason people are anti-costume (and anti-Wolverine mask) is because of the Singer X-Men films - which came out before filmmakers figured out that you can have a believable tone married with accurate visual adaptations.

Give me one reason why he should wear mask?

Batman, Spiderman, they're hiding their identity. Logan as Wolverine doesn't have to.
Only reason is, if Apocalypse make him Death, then it would be surprise for Charles and Hank, after Logan takes off mask.

No. It's because there's no practical reason for them to wear masks.

I can't speak on the Watchmen since I don't have much familiarity with them (all I know is there's a blue naked guy involved). Regarding the rest, they don't look as ridiculous as Wolverine does in his mask, even Superman with his red shorts on the outside of his costume, which have thankfully been done away with.

No one is anti-costume here, but there certainly needs to be upgrades to make them look a little bit more sleek and eye catching on screen and not as silly. There's no reason for Wolverine (or any other X-Man outside of Deadpool and probably Fantomex) to wear his traditional mask.

It definitely looks beyond silly on an actual human being.

That's because you're not used to it yet.

Agreed. Can't wait till they finally use it and settle the issue with naysayers. With all the crazy **** this and other modern series have done it's far from being as ridiculous as most seem to think it is. There's plenty of scenarios for future films. Arronofsky was gonna include it and Mangold was going to introduce it, so obviously there's interest.

The designers need to show they can actually create a good costume to compliment it first. But it's only matter of time before someone brings it in.

If Wolverine's mask is deemed too silly for the films, then it's up to the writers and directors to devise a plotline where it isn't silly.

There are ways of doing these things.

Maybe Wolverine needs to hide his identity in the new, reset timeline.

Maybe he wears it for a mission because it gives him some additional benefits like night vision, etc.

Maybe Apocalypse gives him the mask as part of his transformation into Death.

Maybe it's a theatrical costume he grabs to put on (as in the Aronofsky script for The Wolverine).

There are ways and means of doing these things. Yes, it's going down the road of fan-service, but it is also a part of his classic comic book imagery.
