Countdown: Arena

I was clicking all the choices out of curiosity, and it appears that Earth 12 is the Batman Beyond Earth. So I guess if you'd like to get technical, the Future Earth for the Timmverse.

personally i want vamp bats to be in this, the whole vampire trilogy is on of the most under rated elseworlds there is

Subs to this cause this is gonna be intresting if not slightly going awry.

Yeah, I think I will actually get this. The Captain Atom/Monarch thing is the only part that bothers me; the premise of the actual series seems pretty fun. I'll just keep hoping this Monarch is some kind of alternate reality Captain Atom, or that Captain Atom got all wonky in the head on his return trip from the Wildstorm universe.

That's the impression I got. He isn't in a stable mental condition.

However, I still think it was simply an oversight on the Arena website. The DC Universe still looks at Monarch as a villain and perhaps we're looking at it from their POV? How many heroes other than Kyle actually recognize Monarch as Cap. Atom?

He has been protrayed in Countdown as mischevious, but not necessarily evil.

I think Monarch/Captain is still good, although more anti-hero. :cwink:

Can we all make a pact to vote for whichever character that will make for the most horrible and wrecktastic story?

That may be a bit difficult, though, considering all of these choices will do that.

ZING!

But that's ******ed in itself. The whole point of Captain Atom Armageddon was for Nate to be exposed to the darker Wildstorm universe and become a better hero because of it. Instead it had the opposite effect? Lame.

I really don't think that's a reason to hate someone.
It's a wonderful reason to hate someone. Possibly one of the top five best reasons to hate someone.

Because you, like many others, try to tune out anything Monitor-related from Countdown?
No, I like Bob. And I hate the other Monitors. But in a "I want to see them get ****ed" way, not in a "why are they in the book?" way.

I think Aftermath Bludhaven made that abundantly clear.

Anyone who was at Bludhaven when he destroyed it.

A massive multiverse-spanning army is not something I would describe as mischeivous.

Nor is popping into the Crime Society's dimension and offering them the chance to kill people and conquer the Multiverse. That's outright evil.

Another Newsarama interview with Keith Champagne. This time he actually gives some nice summaries of all the strengths and weaknesses of the characters we can vote on--the three Wonder Women, Batmen, GLs, and Supermen of each match. Pretty cool, all things considered. It looks like one of the GLs is the kid from the Batman Beyond universe, too.

One thing that seriously pissed me off, however, is the fact that the Newsarma interviewer didn't feel the need to ask Champagne why the **** Captain Atom is now evil in either interview. Shouldn't that kind of be an important question, or are we just supposed to assume that "Oh, he's in the Monarch armor and Monarch was evil, so of course he's evil, too!" :whatever:

I read that. Good info. But check this out. In that interview he talks about Chris Kent(?) the Superman form Earth-15 where "the heroes have all evolved to near perfection." OK. In the preview for next weeks Countdown, the Challengers from Beyond or what the f#ck ever the group is called, go to Earth-15. I'll spoiler this:

Jason Todd is Batman. Anybody else see the problem here?

It may just be the Countdown writing making them come off as such. I've yet to find a single character in here that hasn't had at least a moment of stuckupedness.

Looks like Earth-15 is the Earth where legacy heroes actually went ahead and took over for their predecessors. This would be like the bestest thing ever for me, except that it also looks like they've also got some weird silver age fetish thing going on.

Yeah, that would be a cool Earth, except for how stuck up they are, the Silver Age costumes, and the fact that Jason "I'm useless and should die again" Todd is Batman.

According to the description of Earth-15, all the heroes' have evolved to near perfection. And speaking from experience, it's hard to be perfect and not come off stuck-up.

Jason Todd is Batman, so obviously someone ****ed up Earth-15 in either Countdown or Arena. It's impossible for him to be anywhere close to perfect at anything except sucking.

All it takes to fix that is a crowbar.

I was so hoping the Jokester would accidentally cave his skull in somehow last issue...
