Cringeworthy Moments in Good Movies

What are some moments that you've seen in otherwise good movies that just made you wanna shake your head in embarassment?

One for me would be the codename scene in X-Men First Class.

For me it was Shaw's speech when he said "slave" and it cuts to Darwin.

Also, "Mutant and proud."

That movie is full of them but to me the worst was the kid shouting "Nein!!!!!!". Ugh!

Raven ditching Charles after he just got shot is up there as well.

I'd say the arguing scene in Avengers. Half their arguments made no sense. If Captain America was actually a well written character he'd know that Tony Stark is actually a great man. Thor is just standing there and the only one who is actually right is Nick Fury but they all hate him. On top of all that stupidness, it all turns out to be fake. It's filmed horribly, just awful

It's because it's fake that it makes sense. Things they were willing to look past a scene or two earlier are now a contrived issued to them...loki'd.

Cap would have worked for me had they actually cast him properly, because of that, most everything he said was cringe worthy.
I did love the part where he paid fury 10 american dollars though.

You do realize that they were arguing because Loki was messing with their heads with his spear right?

^ I think that would have played better had they kept some of the captain scenes they had cut out. She would have met Cap in plain clothes early in the movie, as this kind of sullen lonely guy.

Then later in the parts that actually still are in the movie she sees him right after his mask gets torn off.

"Where is Miranda Tate?"

Probably just a nitpick and not cringeworthy, but when Batman asked this to Gordon when he saw her earlier that day...it should've been edited out. The only part that I truly am disappointed with in TDKR.

Those two annoying cops throwing out one liners during the chase scene in TDK.

Two? Thought it was just that one guy next to Gordon?

I think it was one guy that had a ton of one liners, and then the other guy was later revealed to be Gordon.

"Is that a bazooka?!"

You can't fix being a bad actress though.

At first when I saw Rises:

"You should use your full name. I like that name...Robin".

I was expecting JGL to turn and wink at the camera. Luckily it's much easier to put up with now.

"WHERE'S DA TRIGGER!?!? WHERE IS IT!?".

Played like the Internet parodies, which is why it's become such an entertaining scene now.

The word "cringeworthy" is used so overused online. I believe it is defined as "anything in a movie that I didn't like and therefore it was awful."

I wonder how many people actually say this word in real life conversations. I hope to God I never have.

Anyway, never mind. Carry on bashing every tiny detail of Nolan's Batman films because we all know how much better you would have done.

You know, that "WHERE'S TEH TRIGGA? WHERE IZ IT?" scene worked for me the first time I saw it because of how monstrous the IMAX sound system made Bale's growl sound. But I've come to see the utter hilarity of it with repeat viewings. Now I just laugh at it.

Hey The Dark Knight Trilogy include my Top 2 favourite films, but it's not exempt from cringe-worthy moments, which end up becoming a hilarious source of entertainment.

Yea, I expect the hilarious moments to become "part of the charm" as the trilogy ages to classicdom.

Rachel in both BB and TDK. Hated that character.

James Bond having a heart defribrolator (sp?) in the glovebox of his Aston Martin in Casino Royale~!

Yeah, sure, standard British Secret Service issue!

It was too convenient. Just happened to have what he needed in the glovebox.

Javert's cartoon sounding bone breaking in Les Miserables.

It's not that there aren't bad moments in the films. It's that it seems like 90% of the threads on this board turn into Dark Knight-bashing threads. At least here it makes sense but the amount of digs people take at the films make me think they either just hated them outright, or they had such ridiculously high expectations that any flaw (or perceived flaw) has been blown up to epic proportions.

Anyway, cringeworthy moments in other good films...

I really didn't like Nimoy's explanation of in Star Trek (2009) of how he tried to save Romulus with the red matter and all that. It's not only that it made little to no sense (I guess red matter was antimatter... but why didn't they just call it that?) but I also felt like Nimoy forgot how to act in that scene.

The alien with giant CGI eyes at the beginning of the 2009 Star Trek film.

They called it Red Matter just to make it sound... more "sci-fi." Why not?

I loved his explanation in the 2009 film. Its where he is acknowledging that there was another timeline (the original, where TOS/TNG/DS9/VOY exist) and that everyone's lives had been changed completely.
