CW developing Beauty&Beast series

Not exactly. Its like that everywhere. This is Hollywood. People gotta look pretty. My girlfriends are all going gaga for Andrew Garfield, because they said he looked so cute in TAS. I mean just look at his hair, stylist probably spent like 20 minutes on it before every set. The clothes, he is wearing, the shoes, the contacts, the skateboard and those dreamy eyes with long lashes, all he needs is to put on a nice jacket and he could easily be the cutest guy in the class. Unlike Tobey Mcguire, no matter what he does, he has this geeky awkward looking thing about him.

All it takes is to put on a fitted jacket and he is a hollywood heartthrob.
I mean face it, he is cute. Thats what Hollywood do. Everythings gotta be pretty, gotta look good. It explains why the Hospital in Greys anatomy only hires doctors that looks like model.
Thats what beauty and the beast is doing as well. They don't want a beast that constantly looks like a real lion. They want him to look hot and sexy and beast out as and when there is a need to. And I don't see whats wrong with that since everyone is doing it.

It's a bigger problem for Beauty and the Beast because it defeats the whole point of the story.

Not sure if geeks spent 20 minutes on their hair, wear contacts, put on make up (I'm sure he did), wears skinnys, cool shoes and skateboard around. :o
He gotta be the coolest, most good looking geek in the planet.

1: I really think you're overestimating how much time went into his look. I really don't see how his hairstyle is something that would have taken 20 minutes to style. It kind of just looks like he ran a comb through it.

2: I don't understand what your definition of the word geek is. What is your definition of the word geek?

'Cause, you see, a geek is just a weird person with weird hobbies that they take seriously. That's it. They're allowed to wear nice clothes. That's not a prerequisite of geek-dom.

Also, what's your hang up on the contact lenses? Some people just prefer contacts.

Where I come from, geeks don't wear skinnies, contacts and skateboard.

Also, just look at the skinnies. The cut, fit and material shows that its a pretty expensive pair. I don't recall geeks looking like this.
Brings the word geek chic to a whole new level.

I'm sorry, I'm a geek and a nerd and I wear designer clothes, skinny jeans, contacts and all that jazz. There's no rule that says you can't do both. And he wasn't a hipster nor a jock, so I didn't see any problems with how he was dressed. I felt like I could relate to him much more than the other guy.

a. What is the point of Beauty and the Beast?
1. No, he has very soft and fine hair, which means in order for his hair to stand, he needs to blow dry his hair right after a wash, wax it and use hairspray on it. If he doesn't use blow dry his hair or use hairspray, it'll go flat in 3 hours. I would know, I spend 20 minutes on my hair when I go out.
2. Well, I know that Peter Parker, won't spend 20 minutes on his hair, wear contacts, buy designer skinnies.

Yes sure, there is no rule that a "geek" can't do all that. But does Peter Parket spend 20 minutes on his hair, wear contacts, buy designer clothes, put on the nudie jeans and all that jazz? Are all "geeks" like you?
Probably not. Most geeks I know doesn't care about their appearance much especially when they're just going to school.
I do everything as well, but I read comic books and I don't consider myself a geek in an absolute sense, because nowadays people throw the word around like candies. girls that are obsessed with Glee call themselves Gleeks or Glee geeks or something. They're probably not geeks.
But the geek in the absolute sense that applies to Peter Parker is the one that is kinda like Tobey McGuire. Socially awkward, not well dressed, doesn't care about his appearance and probably very academic.

Not that theres anything wrong updating Peter Parker to be more fashionable as you said so people can relate to him. But the fact that they're doing that, means theres a certain superficial level in Hollywood where people gotta look good and dress well so that you will want to be like them or feel like you can relate to them. What you said proved my point exactly and I wasn't trying to diss TAS although I didn't like it as much as the first one.

People want to see someone they can relate to, I don't think anyone can relate to this.

I mean... Really?

Reminder that this starts tomorrow, if anyone's planning on tuning in.

This show is pretty good so far. Kristin Kreuk is always great to look at.:hrt:

Its very comic bookish in backstory, sort of like Hulk only without a giant green monster & Captain America minus the red white & blue. Basically, Vincent is given a super soldier formula that hightens all his abilities, strength, speed, ect except everything goes haywire when he gets upset.

Just read Sethy post regarding the source material...what an annoying little bugger that guy is..

Anyway.Having been a fan of the original series,i'm not really looking forward to this, but kind of curious anyway..

Is it just the pilot that's been aired, or has there been more episodes?

I watched the first ep... this is going to develop into the typical romantic CW pap...

can't buy into Kristin Kreuk as a police detective... just doesn't work for me...

plus, can't get the image of her as Lana Lang out of my mind...

I'll stick with the vastly superior Person of Interest which is in this time slot...

the only reason I even gave this a watch was because of the Vice-Presidential debate and POI being pre-empted because of it......

Pilot was decent. Not bad enough to turn me off. Not good enough to make me want to stick around too long. I'll give it a few more episodes.

Overall, I think they just stripped away too much of what "Beauty and the Beast" should be.

Pilot wasn't terrible I still don't like the route they've gone with Vincent. Don't care for all the post-9/11 anti-military/government test subject nonsense.

I like Kreuk and her partner.

I'll give it a few more episodes see how it does.

I just find what they've done with Vincent so un-imaginative. His beast-form is lame as hell. He looks like a vampire. I liked the original story because it had this great romantic, fairy tale like tone and style but it was set in the modern day.

It was the pilot that aired last night. They're rerunning it tonight after a rerun of Arrow's pilot.

This is supposed to be a comedy right? Cause man did I laugh
"I'm a monster!.."

*poses beautifully*

It is the Twilight version of la Belle et la Bête.
I will watch the pilot anyway.

I thought it was pretty good actually. The show kinda reminds me of Nikita. Kreuk's character is far tougher and more interesting, than Lana was on SV , and I thought she did a good job. While the whole " having a scar is sufficent for being considered a beast " is kinda shaky, the guy is a good actor, so i'm willing to go with it. The partner was also pretty hot too. All in all, I thought the pilot was a good start , and i'm gonna check it out next week.

Hate the 9/11 subplot. Hate that the beast is not beast-like at all.

Honestly the reason I think they went that way? They didn't want to spend the extra money on the special make-up. They cheaped on this show.

Its more Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde. The formula that Vincent was given made him something more & more dangerous at the same time. Just because they call him beast doesn't mean he has to look like or turn into a cat/lion type creature.

Since the super soldier formula has adverse side effects on those who are injected with it maybe we will get a different creature each week that was the result of the formula.

I do believe so. I hated Lois Lane which is why I never liked the actress.

I would respond to this, but you've already been banned for being an idiot. Only idiots hate Lois Lane.

I watched 2 minutes of this and turned. Kruek is a bad actress and I can't buy her as detective. Typical CW fare...glad Arrow didn't end up like this drivel.

Yeah this is Beauty and the Beast not Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde.

Calling him a beast is silly. He looks like a GQ cover model.

LOL highly doubt it.

I'm sure there will be other guys like Vincent at points but it's probably usually going to be the odd cases and the government guys going after Vincent.

I saw the pilote, not impressed at all.
The beast isn't even a beast but a ripoff Hulk and all of the fantasy stuff from the orignal serie is gone.
Waste of bandwidth.

I'm having a hard time getting into this series - if it doesn't improve, I'm abandoning it. The thing I think I'm having the hardest time with is that I just can't buy Kreuk as this kick-ass homicide detective - I might stomach her easier if they had kept Chandler as an investigator (they could still keep her a cop <-- I'm thinking ala Law & Order: Trial by Jury) for the DA's office or something. Vincent, I don't mind too much but the idea surrounding his 'beast' side is a little too "hulk-ish" for me and it's not gelling for me.

Ultimately, it's just lacking the charm that made me love Ron Pearlman/Linda Hamilton's B&tB

Just my opinion though, I'm willing to give it a few more episodes, but I'm not holding my breath.

So I caught up on the eps so far, you have not lived until you have seen Kristin Kreuk as an NYPD homicide detective! :D

The opening scene in the pilot after her Mom is killed was just so weird, was it meant to make her look cool? At any rate I don't think she is a bad actress I just find it impossible to buy her as a tough cop, however I'm not sure this show really requires you too, lets face it you aren't watching this show for gritty drama.

I'm not bothered about the switch up in the beast's origins and I actually think the re-imagining is a solid concept, but it still should have been an unconventional looking guy, not a GQ model with a scar because that kills the central theme of the material.

I'm wondering if it'll turn out she has been injected with a special serum as well, given she hasn't aged in 9 years. :oldrazz:

I'll give it a few more eps, hopefully they will flesh out the supporting characters a bit, especially JT who has essentially repeated the same lines for three straight eps, I mean it can't be hard to see why his buddy is drawn to Cat given he's spent 9 years in a dump with him.
