So glad to see Elijah back! :awesome:

There's another Gilbert coming to Mystic Falls.

Newcomer Lindsey R. Garrett has been cast on The Vampire Diaries as Samantha Gilbert, TVGuide.com has learned exclusively.

Samantha, in her 20s, is described as a bit of a gossip, but don't expect her to cross paths with Elena Gilbert (Nina Dobrev) anytime soon. She'll appear only during flashbacks in the episode titled "1912," airing at the end of February, as one of the town's founding family members who interacts with both Salvatore brothers.

From TV Line:
Question: Rumor has it Damon is going to make sexy time with someone whose name is not Elena on Vampire Diaries. Any idea who? —Jill
Ausiello: I have a very good idea who (read: I know, silly), but my lips are zipped. This much I can share: His shag partner is female, she packs a bite and the encounter is, ahem, rough.

Question: If you give me some Vampire Diaries scoop, I’ll send Courteney Cox back through time to do your make-up and sculpt your lashes again. —Juan
Ausiello: Deal. On Diaries, a recurring male character’s days are numbered.

....[blackout]Elijah[/blackout]? :csad:

Oh I didn't even think of him.

To many Originals can not be a good thing for Mystic Falls

lol I love how immediately scared ****less Klaus was as soon as his siblings entered the room.

And, yeah, I figured it would be [blackout]Esther[/blackout] in the coffin.

new she would be in the coffin. also love that all the originals are back up at walking.

As usual the mythos of this show far exceeds it's angst.

But it's constant use of the long lost mother/sibling device is beginning to wear.
Next week it might just be Ricks cousin.

I wonder if Kathrine killed that one guy ? She would have Elenas fingerprints & what not wouldnt she ?

I don't think that's even a viable complaint to make against the series, honestly. They're not unnecessarily pulling random family members out of their asses. This stuff goes back to the beginning. Bill Forbes? Member of the Founder's Council/Founding Families (Gilbert, Lockwood, Salvatore, Forbes, Fell, etc.) Abby Bennett? A member of the Bennett witch family line. Klaus and Elijah's siblings? Elijah openly said last season that they had brothers and sisters. That's what I like about this show. The characters all have a family legacy and the town has a real history.

i'm wondering if esther is a vamp, or she just used magic to survive.

I'd assume she's still a witch. If she's as much of a threat to Klaus as they've made her out to be, her being a witch makes more sense than being a vampire.

Im sorta starting to get over the originals. They are the only ones who can really handle each other and I am tired of everyone making deals with Klaus to survive.

I like it. Having all of them (obviously sans Mikael) together again is gonna bring a different dynamic. Klaus has been the shot-caller so far, but now he only lives because Esther has allowed him to. And it brings out a different side of him. A little humility. With Mikael, he only felt rage and hate. But the second she walked into the room, Klaus turned into a scared little boy, feeling shame for what he'd done.

Moreover, there aren't any other obvious antagonist they can use just yet. Switching over to a Katherine-related antagonist would be a step down the Sorting Algorithm of Evil and they have yet to introduce a new threat (though they might be hinting at one with the Founder's Council murderer). One of the show's many strengths is how solid it has been at foreshadowing new antagonists before they actually show up - Katherine, Elijah, Klaus, the hybrids... all were built up and the idea of them introduced well before they first appear to the main characters.

Love this show! It's like Twilight but with a pair of balls!

So, one thing that I wondered, unless I misheard.... While Caroline's father is dying at the end, does Caroline say "Do you want me to call/get Steven?" And I just had to wiki the character list, because I've not really followed this show from the word go, just season 2, but has there even been mention of him (Steven) before? Is he her brother or something? Maybe another potential character who will turn up to avenge his death? That seems to happen a lot.... people get mentioned at one point, then turn up a bit later in the show. Which is fine, but sometimes it feels like it's just for no reason other than to provide some kind of potential future plot path....

Caroline's father is gay & Steven is his lover.:cwink:

Ah OK.

Well he'll definitely turn up then at some point, won't he!

Eh, I doubt it. I mean, what reason would he have to? As far as we know, he has no real ties to anyone else in Mystic Falls, and he and Ryan weren't either weren't together anymore or not that close, hence the "We don't talk that much anymore" line when Caroline asked if she should call him. Plus, this show is already starting to spread its screentime thin between all the characters they already do have. No real reason to bring in someone else.

I like how the people of Mystic Falls really don't question the fact that the mother of this family looks barely any older than some of her children. Seriously, Esther and Elijah could be the same age for all they know.

They probably figure she had them really young or just has got some great plastic surgery. Who would think that Sofia Vergara has a 17 year old son?

I loved seeing the originals together like that, but the actor who plays Kol could really stand to work on his accent. I swear half the time he sounded Australian.

Also anyone else get the feeling that Esther is going to end up as this year's big bad?
