Ya, they love killing off the guest characters in this show. But its so weird that I somewhat grew up watching him on 7th Heaven and he is only 3yrs older than I am.

I'm still a little sad they killed off Gina Torres in her first appearance.

Ya I wouldve liked to see her as a reaccuring character. But thats just the Gina Torres curse I guess.

I'm still kind of wondering what role Matt will play in this season, if any at all. I've heard the producers discuss literally all the lead characters but him. Starting to seem pretty expendable, if you ask me.

When Vicki and Anna, both heretofore known as "dead," appeared to Jeremy in the season finale of The Vampire Diaries, it raised a lot of questions. Can only Jeremy see them? Is it significant that the late former girlfriends were both also vampires? Will he see more dead people? Why have they returned? "They have their own master plan," executive producer Julie Plec tells TVGuide.com. "The minute you get any supernatural entity dropping into Mystic Falls, somebody is going to be at risk." Plec, co-executive producer Kevin Williamson, and their team of writers have just returned to the writers' room in Atlanta, where they're plugging away on scripts for Season 3, which Plec says will explore the history of the original vampire family. She hints at a flashback to the year 1000, deconstructs the "Delena" kiss and reveals the unique way they'll set the stage for the show's return in September.

When and why did you decide to bring back Anna (Malese Jow) and Vicki (Kayla Ewell)?
Julie Plec: Early on in the season, we started talking about how much fun it would be to bring favorite characters back. When we started thinking about where we were taking Jeremy (Steven R. McQueen) over the course of this season and where we were going to end him, we thought of the idea of him seeing people from his past as a result of being brought back to life. The decision to bring Vicki back was instantaneous because Kayla was so well loved and it was devastating to say goodbye. Anna was such a fan favorite, and so we had the opportunity to take a character that the audience was outraged that we had the audacity to kill and give her another story. And it's just the beginning.

When will we learn what Jeremy seeing dead people means?
Plec: We'll get a good sense in the first episode or two how they're manifesting themselves and where they're coming from. As we get deeper into the season, we'll start to understand that they have a compass and they have their own master plan. You'll have to wait and see whether or not that's a diabolical master plan, [but] I think the minute you get any supernatural entity dropping into Mystic Falls, somebody is going to be at risk. The question is: Who do you like more — the supernatural person or the human?

What will the return of Jeremy's past loves mean for his present girlfriend Bonnie (Katerina Graham)?
Plec: There is a wonderful double meaning of what the witches said to Bonnie that there will be consequences. She went against the order of nature [to save Jeremy] and now there are obviously supernatural consequences for what she did, but clearly there are going to be emotional consequences. These two girls are girls Jeremy loved very profoundly. Bonnie is a nice, new, warm, wonderful, healthy relationship and inevitably it's always the healthy relationship that gets tested when the [more volatile] relationship comes back.

The season finale had another major moment: the kiss between Damon (Ian Somerhalder) and Elena (Nina Dobrev). Did you hesitate giving the "Delena" fans that moment too soon?
Plec: I felt like it was something that needed to happen to end Damon's story line for the season. His entire journey had been, "I'm not worthy of you" and at the end of the season, as he's dying, she tells him, "Yes, you are; you're worthy." For her to be able to show that in a sweet kiss, telling him that she likes him the way he is and he doesn't need to change for her, I thought was really important and a really nice ending to that journey. Of course, in their world, the end of any journey opens up the beginning of a whole lot of drama.

How will that be addressed next season?
Plec: There are a lot of complicated feelings attached to that moment, the biggest being that Stefan was off saving Damon's life while Damon was confessing, yet again, his love for his brother's girlfriend. There's going to be a sense of obligation and guilt attached to it, but Damon does what Damon's going to do. And for now, Elena's boyfriend is gone, possibly dead, and Damon's there as a friend trying to help her save Stefan, and anything can happen there.

Will Stefan be back for Elena's big 18th birthday party in the premiere?
Plec: When we come back, no one will have heard from him, no one will have seen him and the audience won't know where he's been and what he's going through is going to be pretty surprising. One of the little big moments [in the episode] is wondering what Damon gives Elena for her birthday and if Stefan makes an appearance to blow out the candles on the cake.

You dubbed Season 3 "The Year of the Originals."
Plec: In the beginning, we'll catch nice glimpses in flashbacks of a time when Stefan was a true ripper. We'll get to see what that was like and how he got this reputation that Klaus has been holding on to because Klaus wants Stefan to be his wingman. Then, once we get into our second chapter in mid-fall-early winter, that's when we're really going to be digging deeply into the history of the original family and go all the way back in flashbacks to the year 1000 approximately. We're going to tell their origin story, see where and who Klaus comes from, why he is the way he is and why he so desperately needs some therapy or a hug.

Will Elijah (Daniel Gillies) be back?
Plec: Yes. I can't live in a world in which Daniel Gillies is not a part of it in some way. He can go book the next Bourne Identity for all I care, I'm still going to make him come back.

After pulling out some pretty big guns in Season 2, how do you raise the stakes for Season 3?
Plec: The stakes are instantly raised because we have our good brother who is in the grip of Klaus' influence and demands and his own demons, so we're about to watch our hero go down a very dark road — and it's not going to be pretty. Then you have a character seeing people from his past and there are a lot of things that could open up because we've got a lot of people in the past that weren't necessarily so nice. We're also pushing all our relationships to the next level. We left Caroline and Tyler not really sure where they stood with each other. We've seen Tyler come to terms with himself and now we're going to get to see what that means for him in this town, in his family, and in his relationship and friendship with Caroline. I feel like there's more opportunity this season then there has been the first two seasons.

The Vampire Diaries returns Thursday, Sept. 15 at 8/7c on CW.

Exclusive: Heroes' Jack Coleman to Guest Star on The Vampire Diaries

Not one, but two former Heroes cast members will be appearing on Kevin Williamson's CW shows this fall.

TV Guide Magazine has learned exclusively that Jack Coleman, Heroes' company man Noah Bennett, has been hired as a guest star on The Vampire Diaries, for the show's upcoming third season. Coleman will play Bill, a former resident of Mystic Falls who returns home with a dangerous point of view about vampires.

He's the second Hero to be cast on a Williamson show; Ashley Crow, who played Noah Bennett's wife on the NBC drama, will appear in The Secret Circle as the main character's grandmother.
My favorite character/actor from Heroes. I approve.

'Vampire Diaries' casts 'Supernatural' star Sebastian Roche as mysterious vampire hunter -- EXCLUSIVE
by Mandi Bierly

Sebastian Roche, whose character Balthazar was last seen stabbed by Castiel in the Supernatural season finale, has been booked as a recurring guest star on the new season of The CW’s The Vampire Diaries.

Executive producer Julie Plec tells EW Roche will play “a very mysterious man who appears to be hunting vampires, most specifically Klaus.” Mysterious indeed. As Plec explains, “For some reason, Klaus, who shouldn’t be afraid of anybody, seems to be concerned about this person.” The character was originally to be named Eric, but since the show is also introducing a character in season 3 named Bill (Heroes‘ Jack Coleman), the name of Roche’s character will be changing. “To protect from accidental True Blood comparisons,” Plec laughs. (For the record, on TVD, “Bill” will be a former Mystic Falls resident who returns to point out all the failings of the current Council’s attempts to keep vampires out-of-town.)
Plec is vague about when we’ll meet Bill and He Who Shall Be Renamed, but expect them each to arrive sometime during the season’s first chapter (roughly the first nine episodes). If Roche’s character makes Klaus nervous, does that mean he’s the Big Bad? ”He is big, and he is bad, but I would dare not say if he is the true Big Bad or not, trademark Joss Whedon,” Plec says. “If you’ve learned anything from the Whedonverse seasonal-structuring school like we have, then there might be some bigger and badder people coming [later].”

Roche has already made a splash on set. “He showed up for a costume fitting, and I got an email from the costume designer that all of the women in the costume fitting were flushed and atwitter because he’s a very charming, handsome man,” reports Plec, who’s a fan from his General Hospital days. “He’s a classically-trained theater actor, he is mysterious, he has an element of danger to him,” she adds. “We liked the idea of bringing an adult into our world that wasn’t one of our founding families. He’s just got a quality that is really exciting.”

 I like Roche. Honestly, though, I was kind of hoping he would be one of the Originals when I saw his name. But this should be good.

This guy shows up in all my shows. Fringe, Supernatural, Criminal Minds...

He's a brilliant actor, always a pleasure to watch. He's so charismatic and charming that even when he's playing a bad guy I almost root for him to win so he doesn't get killed off.

I hope he sticks around for a while on The Vampire Diaries.

Episode Descriptions for episodes 301 ("The Birthday") and 302 ("The Hybrid"):
IT’S MY PARTY — On the morning of Elena’s (Nina Dobrev) 18th birthday, Caroline (Candice Accola) is busy planning a party, but Elena is focused on searching for any clues that might help her discover where Stefan (Paul Wesley) is. Damon (Ian Somerhalder) is also searching for Stefan, while trying to protect Elena and keep her from doing anything that would draw Klaus’ (Joseph Morgan) attention. Meanwhile, Klaus and Stefan are busy trailing a werewolf named Ray Sutton (guest star David Gallagher, “Super 8”). Now working at the Mystic Grill along with Matt (Zach Roerig), Jeremy (Steven R. McQueen) is struggling to understand why he keeps seeing the ghosts of Vicki (guest star Kayla Ewell) and Anna (guest star Malese Jow) since he was brought back to life by Bonnie’s (Kat Graham) magic. Meanwhile, Alaric (Matt Davis) does his best to watch over Elena and Jeremy, while dealing with his grief over Jenna’s death. Finally, Caroline and Tyler (Michael Trevino) face a new and unexpected challenge. John Behring directed the episode written by Kevin Williamson & Julie Plec (#301).
THE NEW ORDER --- Klaus (Joseph Morgan) puts a plan in motion that will give him even more power, but even with the unwilling participation of werewolf Ray Sutton (guest star David Gallagher), things don't go exactly as Klaus had planned. Damon (Ian Somerhalder) and Alaric (Matt Davis) reluctantly go along with Elena's (Nina Dobrev) new strategy to find Stefan (Paul Wesley), leading Damon into a dangerous fight with an unexpected enemy. Jeremy (Steven R. McQueen) turns to Matt (Zach Roerig) for help as he continues to try to understand what the ghosts from his past want from him. Unaware that Caroline (Candice Accola) is in need of his help, Tyler (Michael Trevino) faces an emotional confrontation with his mother (guest star Susan Walters). Josh Butler directed the episode written by Al Septien & Turi Meyer (#302).

Really looking forward to this. One of the better shows out there and Somerhalder is brilliant in this.

Tonight.

Just caught the ending, and it was a nice ending at that. Tylers mom is out for some vamp blood.

Paul Wesley did ****ing great. The look in his eyes when he approached Andie was creepy as hell.

And, going after the Sheriff's daughter? Vamp or not, this will get messy. Wait til Mrs. Lockwood finds out just exactly what her son is.

I see this being the start of the downfall of the founding families or watever they are called.

Stefan was excellent. He is finally stepping up from the boring character he has been since the series began.

Is it me or does Damon look younger now than he did in season 1?

Klaus was freakin' awesome. He has lots of charisma. I loved the spree he and Stefan went on.

Alaric, I love you and all, but please get your ass some more screentime this season, ok?

Agreed. The only really juicy stuff he had last season was being possessed by Klaus. And that was, like... a three episode arc.

I wonder how long before Damon makes his way into the storage facility where Klaus is holding Elijah and the rest of the Originals. It's really only a matter of time before he thinks to enlist their help.

Maybe thats where Bonnie will come in since she is suppose to be a big part of the Originals storyline. Plus I love me some Bonnie/Damon scenes. And well she needs more screen time and development. They made Caroline into such a great character, it's time Bonnie gets her time.

I guess the originals will have something to do with stopping Klaus since hes going through all of that trouble to keep them out of his way
