(I dont think this has been posted so here I go)

I recently went on Xverse (which I havnt been on for a while) and they posted a new inteview with Ralph Winter you might be interested in:

Ralph Winter on Spin-Offs and Cyclops
Reporter: Okay, for all the X-Men fanboys out there, which I again count myself among -- sorry, Ralph -- I just have to ask. [Spoilers ahead for X-Men 3: The Last Stand.] The final, post-credits scene in the movie showed us that Xavier wasn't quite so dead after all. As much speculation about that among fans as there's been, there's been an equal amount that maybe Cyclops didn't really die, either, since we never actually saw his death on film. I'm not asking for an official word on that; I'm just curious what your personal feelings are. Could Cyclops still be alive?

Winter: In terms of the story, killing Cyclops was about demonstrating the enormous power that Jean Grey came back with, and this conflict that was raging inside her. I can't recall any discussion we've had about Cyclops coming back. But hey, it's science fiction, it's fantasy. Anything could happen.

Reporter: Nobody ever stays dead in comics.

Winter: (Laughs.) Hey, nobody stays dead in the Star Trek movies I made! We were blasted with, "You can't kill Spock!" And we were sort of like, "Well, if you do it right, you can. Because then you can bring him back."

Reporter: Were you witness to any major backlash about killing those two prominent characters in X-Men?

Winter: Not much, really. It was shocking, so we tried to keep it a secret so you wouldn't know about it before the movie came out, though a summary of the script was leaked online pretty early on.

But I'll tell you this about that final scene. We went around opening night and visited a bunch of theaters, and it was very interesting. We went to some of the suburban theaters, and there were ten or fifteen people who would stay until the final scene, and they were kind of laughing and scratching and poking each other, saying, "I told Harry he should have stayed! I knew there was more!" Then we went to Mann's Chinese Theater, which is sort of the height of fanboy geekdom. And that theater was packed at the end! They sat through every credit and they made everybody be quiet, and when that final scene came up, they were cheering.

well at least there is hope but he doesnt seem too excited about it.

I should of gone to his theatre so i can be a one of kind. Mine had VERY mixed reactions. Mostly the younger viewers cheering. *shrugs*

Has anyone else on X3 said anything negative about the movie. I mean just about every interview they come off as if the movie was a critical success.

I mean i know it did good but come one, is everything in Hollywood this fake?

YES

virtually every good review is only postitive about the film because it was a good popcorn movie which basically means it sucked but had good special effects. the only reason they can stay positive is because of the tremendous box office. if it wasn't so grand i doubt there would a lot of people from the movie who would still be positive about it.

I watched Superman last night Go James hehe

And I saw some more hairspray pictures the other day of him as well!

Have ya seen the behind the scenes footage of SR? James Marsden is very funny in it, especially the scenes in the make-up room!

Tried to keep it secret...uh huh...the key words...........:cmad: :cmad:

hey all!

before x3 came out there were all sorts of animated gifs of cyclops (from x3) which were basically on this forum.

One was from the website , where he shoots from his vizor.. and the 2nd one was from where he shoots at the ALKALI lake.

I saved both of them and use them as animated emoticons on my msn, however by mistake the 2nd one got deleted. Does anyone have that ANIMATED gif?

Please CYKE fans!!! help!!!

Well, I have this one...

that's cool. i really hope he comes back for x4

I would be shocked if Cyclops returned in any future X-Men movies.

I think it's wishful thinking on the part of fans, an attempt to mentally deal with the absurdity of this absolute blunder. And in turn, I think any vague "No one dies in comics" comments are just an attempt to quell any (valid) fan displeasure and keep their interest piqued for further installments. I'm sure they have no intentions whatsoever of bringing the character back.

And while we're on the subject (what else would we be talking about in this thread?), I have a comment I've wanted to make for a while -

I'm all for comic book movies being more "adult." I think they should concern serious themes and tackle mature, human issues. And in these epic battles, someone's gotta go. Hell, more characters die in Disney movies then just about anywhere; I don't have a problem with death per say.

But I found it almost...irresponsible.. of the filmmakers to kill a character like Cyclops. I think it's considered more acceptable because the X-Men weren't as "iconic" as characters like Batman or Superman; I think in a way they are seen as more dispensable.

Maybe times have changed; I don't know. But I am so glad that I am not a kid anymore, and that I have no kids of my own yet. Because when I was a kid, Cyclops was one of my heroes, just like Batman or Superman. And if I were watching a movie in which he was abruptly wiped off the face of the earth...well, it wouldn't have been pretty.

It's not like I prescribe to the soccer mom beliefs like those that decimated the Batman franchise back in the day, but I do feel that filmmakers have a degree of responsibility when dealing with characters who are, whether we read and watch them as adults or not, characters that children love.

Meh, I usually just refer to it as complete and utter BS - OMG, LOOK, DARK PHOENIX CAN KILL STUFF!!!!! CLEVER WRITING!!! EPIC!!! - rather than try to bring the kiddies in the argument. :woot:

You get my point though, right? To me it's just another way they've spit on the fans (of which we tend to forget the younger ones).

I totally agree, to this day i am disgusted at what happened to Cyclops in X3 and i will never forgive the makes of this movie for it. The Pheonix Saga was Cyclops' chance to shine, instead they ****ed him off for a new Wolverine who was an ******* and nothing like he was in X1 and X2.

anything interesting in that interview, about xfilms? something new?

Dude, I totally get your point.

They didn't just spit on fans. No, no, no. They took the x-mythos, killed it and then corpse f***ed it ad nauseum. :woot:

I was just reiterating your point by being even more cynical about it. :woot:

Rented 10th and Wolf today...will watch it soon. Hope its good, lol.

I'm dowloading Heights, but has stopped at 95% :cmad: I want to see it already.

Nice find (regarding the article). I'm glad that Marsden looks to genuinely like the character. He doesn't just seem like one of those actors who sometimes dismiss the characters they portray.

Speaking of filmmakers should be responsible when dealing with children's favorite characters, I remember that the day I went to watch X3, after the movie there was a kid kept whining about 'his Cyclops disappeared.' and his parents had to use all possible way to explain Cyclops' mysterious disappearance and a ball of ice cream to make him stop.

Perfect example, thank you.

Like I said, I'm not advocating they make kiddie films, but I'm sure as hell glad I'm not a kid anymore. I'd rather be a pissed off adult than a traumatized kid.
