Cyclops Returns(Old Thread Closed)

I just can't believe that someone out there (whoever it was) thought it'd be a good idea to kill off Cyclops, the leader of the X-Men, in a story that he was supposed to have a major role in.

I understand that Halle and Hugh are the stars, and I think it would have been completely possible to still feature them in major roles while keeping Cyclops around and giving him the role he deserved.

I love the scene of Wolverine marching up to Jean to finally destroy her (I think it's one of the most powerful, most epic, and all around best scenes in the trilogy), but even that could have been so much better had it been Cyclops.

At the very least, they should have re-worked the beginning of the movie to have Cyclops leading the team in the Danger Room. Instead of the back and forth between Wolverine and Storm, the exchange between Wolverine and Cyclops could have been in the subbasement. Back in his room, he could have had the vision of Jean, and then he could have left the mansion, either without saying anything to anyone, or having a quick talk with Xavier (to at least explain that he's being haunted by her calling out to him, and that he's not just a whiney *****). At least if it were set up like that, we could have at least seen him in uniform, leading the team, one final time before he died.

It was Kinbergs and Penn's idea remember? They pretty much admitted they did it to prove how dangerous Jean is. The problem with your logic of Cyclops leading them in the Danger Room still shows how weak he is.

We see him lead in the sessions and leaves them when they need him the most? If Cyclops had to die they could've killed him off as a hero in the final battle and not in the most lamest way.

Now that I think about it a restart sounds just fine with me now. Kinberg, Penn, and Rothman all wanted Cyclops gone. Which is a shame since neither of them gave Jimmy a chance.

For my X3 rewrite, there will most likely be a flashback to the first X-Men. Here is a concept Cyclops in that suit. It's just a concept, so it's not extremely clean or detailed. I figured if anyone would appreciate it, it'd be you guys.

Like, let's say, he's found/brought back by Hellfire/Sinister (whatever). Baddies let him loose and then he'll get his a$$$ kicked by the VERY FIRST MUTANT he encounters. Just because.

Posted on the old thread what I thought would be a nice treatment of a 'Cyke resurrected as abaddies' tool'... Problem is, Cyke actually gets to do something useful and, omg, he's not a cardboard cutout.

And that's a big no-no in the movieverse, it would seem...

I don't see any reason (s)he's got to complain about, everyone ever hearing James sing knows he's a wonderful singer, just because Hugh can sing doesn't necessarily mean there's no one just as good or even better than him.

The reason I said this is because recently I mentioned "Why did Fox neglect Marsden over Hugh? Why didn't they give Marsden a chance?" She took it as me bashing Hugh and got all upset because she feels Hugh will propose to her if she defends him.

In other words with you saying "Looks like Hugh has some competition coming up" she'll take it as you bashing Hugh.

I am going to say this one last time. I didn't do anything wrong at all. In the beginning all I did was post pictures of Jimmy as Cyclops and posted some information. In the process of that all I said was "Why didn't Fox give Jimmy a chance? Why did they choose to hype up Hugh and not give Jimmy a chance?"

That was all I said. Like 5 minutes later she comes in and attacks me because according to her I was bashing Hugh. So when a fellow poster mentioned that Hugh might have some competition with James singing, I warned him/her as Loganbabe seems to get defensive if someone isn't praising Hugh.

I didn't instigate or start anything. She started it and ruined a perfectly intelligent thread about James and Cyclops in general.

This is the final time I'll discuss the subject.

And you spent a good deal of time wasting space on these boards making those same accusations about me before that light finally went on and you realized that yes, I am a great and cool person.

I think this whole back-and-forth between you and Loganbabe is a whole misunderstanding and should just drop...but just quit making the "unrealistic crush" jabs and accusing people of not reading the comics when clearly they do.

You keep doing that, and it's the reason people jump on your case even when you're not trying to slam anyone...which is what I think happened here.

OK, everyone go back to loving Cyclops now (and I mean that honestly ). I'm going to go read my new Weapon X book that I got before I finally saw "Casino Royale" tonight.
