Ant-Man Dammit, Janet! The official Wasp thread

Not sure how I'll take this with Hank being old and Janet presumably dead. I would have much rather preferred Hank and Janet being the duo on screen. If the trailers look good and word of mouth say the movie is at least decent I'll probably go see it. I just pray it doesn't end up like Iron Man 3.

IDK that it's a coincidence that Lilly's look very much resembles Janet's, or that she's Hank's daughter. I'm not saying that she's 100% going to be present-day Wasp, but I think that it's quite likely.

I thought it was confirmed Lilly was Hope Van Dyne?

It is confirmed that Lilly is Hope. Lilly also pretty much confirmed her mother Janet was Wasp.

We don't know what happened to Janet. It is a strong possibility hope will become the modern Wasp. Lilly said something about working with Marvel in 2016.

It's also possible that Lilly is playing Hope and a young Janet (I was hoping for Judy Greer) for flashbacks or an opening scene. Remember that a few months back that casting directors were looking for an early 40s Michael Douglas look-a-like.

I'll be quite disappointed if she doesn't become Wasp now.

I think Hope will be the Wasp of the MCU.

She should take up some of Darren Cross' equipment at some point in this film so we can see how the color scheme works on her.

I wish they'd hurry up and just confirm that Hope's suiting up already. Just to end the suspense and speculation.

Maybe the film will make it evident and they don't want to give it away ahead of time.

Well, I loved Iron Man 3 but hate the idea of dead Jan and crotchedy old Hank. Honestly, I don't know how this film can win me all the way back as a long time fan but a good first trailer would be a good place to start.

I wonder if Janet suffered her mothers fate in the MCU.

I'm holding out "Hope" (no pun intended) that Janet is not actually dead but trapped in the Microverse instead. Now seeing as Hank and Jan were active in the 60's and 70's, a thought has occurred to me that if/when the rights to the Fantastic Four ever return to Marvel, a part of me has me suggesting that maybe being that they are Marvel's First Family, that they be based in the 60's as well. Be hard to suggest a much older Reed Richards working with Stark and Cap though not to mention an older Human Torch hanging out with Spider-Man even. Dunno, they could make it work I suppose. Heck, Doctor Doom could be unleashing terror with a walking stick lol!

Anyway, back on topic.

Before moving any further, don’t worry about drilling too deep into Feige’s “two more” comment. He outright confirms that Wasp, a founding Avenger in the comics, has a role to play in “Ant-Man,” albeit an unexpected one.

“She factors in a number of spoiler-ish ways,” he says, choosing his words carefully. “But we will see Janet van Dyne in action in this film, and sort of what happened to her.”

Awesome news. Glad we will get see Janet in action. I bet she is in the south american compound scene

Interesting that they managed to keep her casting under wraps.

There is no actress. Apparently we only see her eyes through her helmet.

"And while we don’t know if she dies or gets lost in the microverse, Pym blames S.H.I.E.L.D. and resents superheroes."

Hmm...

Feige hints that Hope will don the Wasp outfit.

He seemed to suggest that if it happens, it will be toward the end of the movie and she won't suit up. Bummer. :csad: I hope (pun intended) that she will become Wasp in CW.

Whether Janet was killed in action or somehow got sucked into the Microverse, we probably won't be getting a sequel to Ant-Man anytime soon unless it is a major hit & if we did then they may never even mention her or fully explore what exactly happened to Janet unless her possible return was part of the plot of the sequel.

I doubt we'll be seeing Janet in the modern day, unless a possible sequel was going into the Microverse to save her - and we don't even know if she was stuck in the Microverse. Chances are she died in there. Plus, she'd be Hanks age, so it's not like she'd be able to become Wasp again.

Hope will be the MCU Wasp.
