It's funny, this is the film I think Zimmer should've been on and the leave the solo's for other composers.

Anyway, my choice would be Howard Shore.

Giacchino or Silvestri for me. Someone more optimistic.

If by "real magic", you mean the camp of Williams' Superman '78 theme, then I'm definitely not interested in that.
This 100%. I don't want Williams back for that very reason, I don't want him bringing back the 78' theme. Leave the dated camp out of these films please.

And since Zimmer won't come back, I want Junkie XL to continue on his themes and motifs. Nowadays, almost every superhero soundtrack is generic and boring sounding. (Cap TWS and TASM films being the only exeception imo) So far the DCEU has had memorable, "powerful" sounding scores, I really hope that doesn't change.

There's lot of camp elements in the '78 film...

But that theme is most certainly not one of them.

Yeah, it is. Williams' Star Wars theme is less camp than that. Elfman's Batman '89 theme is less camp than that (and his Batman theme is kinda campy). Williams' '89 theme is the musical embodiment of camp.

Well I suppose it is maybe a little camp for a film about a man in spandex and cape, flying around and doing battle with other men in spandex and cape. And by magic, I actually meant a fun, discernible tune that actually gets the audience going. You know, a majestic and iconic piece of music that people will definitely remember after they leave the theaters.

Batman's theme or Superman's? I disagree though. Elfman's score was dark and not campy, maybe the Joker's was but it suited his theme. People keep saying John Williams' Superman theme is dated...it's not.

It's not like you can just use pre-recorded tracks from the '78 film and just put it into MOS, it would have be composed to fit certain scenes for the movie, adjusted and edited in parts, but still using the orignal John Williams theme. Like John Ottman did for Superman Returns.

James Bond has used his original theme since the sixties. Come on.

Sure John Williams would be great but we have different Batman and Superman themes now, so it would be better to hire a new composer.

Nick Glennie Smith? The guy who composed The Man in the Iron Mask (1998) and Home Alone 3 (1997). I think he might be good for Justice League. His theme for The Four Musketeers was heroic and triumphing. Listen to the track "Surrounded" if you know what I mean, see it on film.

Been listening to a "Beautiful Lie" on repeat. Truly beautiful piece, still can't believe it's Zimmer's.

I wouldn't mind it, though I'd prefer if they'd bring another composer as well to balance him out, as Junkie tends to be too bombastic. On the other hand, Junkie/Zimmer collaboration was probably one of a kind, it's hard to have two composers cooperate like this.

I actually liked Glennie-Smith's work on A Sound of Thunder, which was one of the few positive aspects about it. Plus, he's had experience working with Zimmer and has conducted the recording sessions for MOS and BvS.

I wouldn't be surprised if Junkie did the score for JL.

Me neither. Snyder apparently liked the cues he wrote for Man of Steel and brought him on to score 300: Rise of an Empire. He replaced Federico Jusid, who was originally supposed to score that film.

depends on what type of soundtrack you want if you want bombastic energy pounding score keep junkie xl

if you want adventurous sweeping epic you get someone like Michael Giacchino

Junkie XL is fine but if I could get whoever I want from the list then Howard Shore it is.

Silvestri's TA theme is amazing but his other tracks are mostly forgettable.

I really hope they get Howard Shore for Wonder Woman. I think that'd be perfect.

As for Justice League, I still wanna see Bear McCreary do it. Like, his music just sounds amazing to me. His 10 Cloverfield Lane music reminds me of Michael Giacchino's Medal of Honor music (his best imo), Nick Arundel's Arkham City and Arkham Knight music, and a little bit of Christopher Drake's Arkham Origins music. He'd be really good for a lighter JL that would also retain that MOS/BvS level of seriousness, as well as bringing in lighter music for characters like Superman and Flash. He has this way of making amazing music whether a movie's good or bad (unlike Zimmer, who, imo, made terrible music for a terrible movie in TASM2). And I think he'd fit better than Howard Shore, who I think could shine best on something like Wonder Woman (as someone whose best music, imo, was his LOTR stuff).

The Justice League needs a theme (and epic hero group shot moment) like the Avengers had. I've never been so happy in a theater before. The music played a large role in that.

Or Aquaman?

Eh, Wonder Woman. I may be a little biased towards LOTR, but that's the reason I want Howard Shore. I think it'd be cool if the Amazonians had a sort of Elvish-sounding theme. Maybe he could do both? But if he could only do one, I'd prefer that he do Wonder Woman.

Yeah, I wouldn't keep Junkie XL for Justice League. But I do want him to do the Batman solo. Junkie isn't all bombast either. Go listen to his Run All Night score.

EDIT: Listening to the Run All Night score, Junkie XL was and is perfect for Batman. If they simply used that score for the Batman solo music, I would be very satisfied. He's definitely not all bombast, so it's not fair to label Junkie's music as just that. I think he'd even work fine for JL, but I do think we need someone else for it.

Sounds good to me...I'm biased too but I think it'd be epic for the king of Atlantis to have the music scores as epic as Aragorn's and those middle earth rulers's.:cwink:

The Avengers theme sounds cheesy as heck to me, not that it's a bad thing.

I'd personally want someone like Christopher Drake or Nick Arundel, since their pieces on All-Star Superman and Arkham Knight, respectively, are pretty much the quintessential modern themes for Superman and Batman, imo. That All-Star Superman theme, especially, is all types of feels. Although I'm not sure how their style would fit for a full length blockbuster though.

I believe the whole "theme" thing is why I found Zimmer's and Junkie's work in BvS to feel as being hit by a sledgehammer at times. While I admit that a character theme was an idea I was very on board with, the fact that whenever Diana (or even just her photo) appears and whenever Batman enters the shot, the same goddamn music gets to play did make it rather annoying at certain points.

I think it's cheesy as well. I agree that the Justice League needs a theme, though. They aren't just a group of separate heroes. They are an organization, a league, so that league should have its own theme music, and I hope it's something that isn't campy.

It would be nice to see what Howard Shore and Junkie can come up with together. I'd especially love to see what Shore could do with the new Superman theme.

OMG yes. There. That. Him. McCreary is an amazingly talented composer. His work on "Battlestar" was incredible, he can do so many things so very well. Give me Bear!
