Danny Elfman vs. Chris Young

So I wasn't the only one who was annoyed the Batmanish sound of the symbiote score...

I'm getting tired of people praising what they call the "Young's Goblin theme". There's no such thing, the theme is completely Elfman's...

Yeah Young just musically rearranged the theme, like he did the Spidey theme.

And flavio_lebeau is right : while for years, people criticized Elfman's music for Spider-man, accusing it to be too Batmanish (which is not and the music is there to prove it), I'm really astonished that so few of them dare to mention the “Batman sound” Christopher Young took for his very unsubtle Symbiote theme. And it's not just a feeling I got or something : play both themes on a piano and you'll see that they share the same notes and harmonics...

Oh for crying out loud here! I seem to recall a time when people were pissing and moaning that Danny Elfman's music was bland and your standard a Danny Elfman score. And I just rolled my eyes back then. Now that we got a new guy his (Elfman's) prior scores are all of a sudden genius? I just wonder who's been hypocritical here?

Well, we're glad of that. I've liked the score from all three movies equally regardless of who was composing it. At least Sony didn't totally rescore everything like Warners did with Batman Forever. I had so missed Elfman's Batman theme that they had traded in for a more generic one.

I think Chris Young dit great! The sandman theme and symbiote spidey theme were very good... also loved the touching music with sandmans birth and confession in the end... but the use of the Spidey main theme was used a few times to many

I'd go with Danny Elfman. His themes were perfect. But Chris Young's themes were also perfect.

I found that the original Elfman music for SM2 was horrible and what Young replaced it with was much better.

Elfman = 1 = Good
Elfman = 2 = Bad
Elfman = 3 = left-overs, but still good
Chris = 1 = ... absense...
Chris = 2 = Good
Chris = 3 = Good

Danny wins my vote by a milimeter. Both did awesome and I picked Danny because he did more of good stuff. Chris Young, however his stuff was awesome, was only there for one and a half movies.

Chris Young ALMOST wins my vote though.

I think sandman should have had Doc Ock's theme with a little alteration. But anyways, I was glad this movie had the same main theme. Spiderman 4 might not have it at all.
