Daredevil Daredevil: FULL SEASON TWO Discussion Thread (BEWARE, SPOILERS GALORE!)

So what do you think about his court room scene? Was Karen threatened and that's why he went nuts, or was it because he was becoming aware of who Matt really was and he didn't want Matt hurt or his cover blown?

And damn, Karen really was a damsel in distress in this. From being attacked by The Punisher, then shot at by the Blacksmith, to being kidnapped by Fisk's people.

I'm surprised Karen isn't developing PTSD from all this.

Still wish the season had ended with Nelson & Murdock still open.

I had an interesting question to raise here: what do you think would've gone differently in season 2 of Daredevil if Karen had learned Matt was Daredevil entering the season? As in, Matt decided to tell Karen his secret before season 2, in between Fisk's arrest and Frank showing up, instead of at the very end of the season. What would be the same and what would be different?

So many questions that really don't need an answer. A whole lot of things would have been different, which could have lead to a different sort of season, in both a good and bad way.

But that did not happen so tossing around hypothetical questions makes it kind of pointless.

Halfway through season 2 and absolutely hate Elektra. The more she speaks, the more annoying she gets. :( I'd be happy if she didn't come back.

"Us applauding for Daredevil opened the door for this Punisher". What opened the door for Daredevil? All the other masked freaks out there?

At least Punisher makes up for it, right? ;)

I wonder what you'll think of her watching her return in Defenders.

Yeah kind of crazy for an ordinary civilian to get caught up with so much crazy/brutal stuff and not be affected.

I've only seen a few fics that talk about that sort of stuff.

The more I think about it these days, I can only wonder what's in store for Matt, Karen and Foggy in Daredevil season 3.

I think right now, there is obviously going to be a LOT of damage control going on for the trio in season 3, given the fallout of season 2 and The Defenders. Foggy probably has it pretty bad. We know from how he dealt with Elena Cardenas' death that he's got a guilt complex, so I would imagine that Foggy blames himself for Matt’s "death", especially since he IS the one who brought the suit to the precinct. I also imagine him freaking out after Karen's near-death experience during the events of The Punisher, making him desperate to keep his family safe. So, when Matt gets back Foggy is going to be pissed but he will also fight tooth and nail to keep his best friend.

Whatever happens, I want to imagine that Foggy will finally get a chance to talk through things with Matt (in a way that won’t end in tears) and will allow them to repair a lot of their friendship, as it gives Foggy a chance to say that he appreciates Daredevil and that the city needs Matt. Depending on what sort of machinations Fisk has in store, Foggy will also be somehow leaving his job at Hogarth Chao & Benowitz, which will send him back to considering reopening Nelson & Murdock… OR he will get a lot more notoriety and might have enough momentum that he starts his district attorney campaign that he had in the comics.

Of course, that's what will probably be happening between Matt and Foggy. That will get a lot of focus, but I imagine that the majority of the focus of season 3 for the protagonist is likely going to go to Matt's relationship with Karen, now that Karen is stepping more and more into Ben Urich’s shoes.

I wonder if they touch more on Karen's past. They hinted a something dark in season 1. Will they ever go the heroin or porn route? I get the feeling that something broken in her past on this show and the Kingpin or someone else will exploit that in spades.

A scene in season two with Ellison seems to suggest it had something to do with the car crash that killed her brother, seems to imply she was somehow at fault. I doubt they'd ever take a drug or porn route with her. Her character seems too strong for that, also it was one of those things that fans hated Frank Miller did during his time with Daredevil. There's better/more consistent way to accomplish the same narrative goals.

Regardless, I think we are going to get into the world of Karen Page come season 3. I think it's very likely that the relationship between Matt and Karen is likely to get more focus than the relationship between Matt and Foggy. Since Karen is stepping into Ben’s shoes, there will be a lot of time with her, and we also will more likely than not be seeing more of her past, and it wouldn't be too difficult for the writers to fixate on Karen and her story in relation to Matt’s, given that she's been the deuteragonist for the first two seasons, and media has got a long history of ignoring long standing familial love in favor of focusing on the romantic type of love (which Matt and Karen have in addition to the familial love).

I'm a bit behind here but I just picked up Daredevil season 2 on Blu-ray over the weekend so I know what I will be binge watching this week. Unfortunately I couldn't find season 1 to rewatch it so I guess I'll probably have to order it online. The store did have Luke Cage though but not Jessica Jones and I didn't want to jump ahead.

So far I've watched the whole first disc which contains the first four episodes and now I'm half way through disc 2. I really like how they wasted no time getting into the Punisher stuff. I thought Jon Bernthal acted his ass off during the cemetery scene. The Elektra scenes have been good so far and I felt the actress fit the role as well.

The Blu-ray case comes with the awesome Joe Quesada artwork too.

Is Wilson Bethel Sin-Eater? And if he's appearing, I'm guessing we'll meet Jean DeWolff and she'll be killed off early on.

I don't think Marvel will be using any Sony-exclusive characters in their Netflix properties.

It's too bad. My hope is that the deal with Sony would open things up more. Marvel could incorporate Sony licensed characters, and in turn, Sony could use other Marvel characters as well...besides Iron Man and Happy Hogan and Pepper.

And we could get a proper Spider-Man vs. Venom movie onscreen :(

Sorry if this has been discussed...I wonder if any of the Avengers 3 stuff will make its way into Daredevil or any of the Marvel shows?

I've been waiting patiently for some reference to Sokovia or the Accords from the Netflix pulpit. So far it's just the same general "the Avengers are an actual thing".

In JJ season 2
they mention The Raft many times.

In Jessica Jones S2
The Raft (from Civil War) is mentioned (and I believe at one point the police make mention that human rights laws don't cover powered people due to "special protocol")

edit: Spider-Fan was a :ninja: and beat me to it :oldrazz:

Technically, Daredevil is an outlaw vigilante accused of murder. So he wouldn't have to "register" or anything. I like this show because it's pretty ground-level compared to what's going on with the superpowered Avengers world. I would have to assume they'd have to at least talk about the Thanos invasion after May :awesome:
