Daredevil Daredevil General Discussion Thread - Part 2

There better not be spoilers in the general thread when this comes out in April, and hopefully there will be separate episode threads where people can discuss without making reference to episodes people haven't seen yet. Don't know if people are doing that with Agent Carter in the general thread or the episode 1 thread, but I have just avoided them altogether as I haven't watched them yet.

Is this specifically the date for US Netflix or do you think it will apply to a bunch of other regions too? I'm excited but i don't wanna have to wait to watch it!

Even if it isn't the same day, it'll be the 9th, 11th, 12th etc. in other regions most likely

Marvel is saying one new show every 8-15 months + new seasons. My guess is that Iron Fist will debut alongside Daredevil Season 2. They'll probably do the Daredevil and Iron Fist Civil War story where Daniel takes over Matt's identity + the I'm Not Daredevil sweater.

I thought the big 4 will get their series then Defenders then season 2

This.

Iron Fist will come before Defenders which will come before any potential S2's of any of the shows. All the S1's are part of 1 story which culminates in the Defenders. No room for a S2 in between. AKA Jessica Jones is coming later this year as well, which means we can probably expect BOTH Luke Cage and Iron Fist to debut next year, with Defenders happening around April 2017 I'm guessing.

Also, Iron Fist is next in line after JJ. Since JJ's about to go into production, I'd imagine we'll get casting for Iron Fist in the next few months.

Seconded. In the run-up to the show debuting, I want individual episodes threads, with no spoilers for later episodes allowed in the respective threads. Allow people to watch and discuss at their own pace.

Well, with Netflix shows it's a little different. It's harder to reference events from specific episodes when you watched it all at once like a 13-hour movie. This has certainly been the case for other Netflix shows on the Hype, but none of them have ever had their own section before. Maybe we should have a general spoilers thread for those who've seen the whole series once it's released and want to discuss it as a whole?

Maybe. I don't imagine people could restrain themselves from mentioning something that happens in say, episode 6 in the episode 2 thread. Also, I think people might not even remember which plot point was in which episode if they watch them all in one night as it would all blur into one.

But it would still be nice to have individual threads for each episode. I can see myself not posting in any though until I've finished watching the entire series just to be on the safe side.

I don't have 12 hours to spare in one day to watch it all in one go, and wouldn't want to anyway even if I had. That would just end up being diminishing returns for the later episodes and I wouldn't enjoy them as much. I can appreciate it much more if it's more spaced out.

That's probably wise. It will be hard for the mods to police all the threads for spoilers that weekend, especially if there are 13 different episode threads going at once.

Maybe a spoiler thread only to post in after you've finished watching the whole series would be a good idea

That's what makes the most sense to me at the moment.

But does that then mean the only options are for people to discuss NOTHING that happens in the show, or to discuss EVERYTHING? What if there is a cliffhanger in Episode 7 that people want to discuss without knowing how it's resolved in Episode 8? Or what if they want to speculate on Wilson Fisk's character arc based on events in Episode 4 without insight from someone who's seen how it's all resolved by Episode 13?

No I meant ON TOP of individual episode threads, not in lieu of them.

I hope Punisher is introduced in phase 2

I had an idea that he could be mentioned as a background figure/urban legend throughout these first 4 minis, culminating in him showing up in The Defenders. He could start off as an antagonist at odds with the others, before they grudgingly unite to take on a bigger threat.

I dont want him mentioned until after he gets his own show because I'd wanna see an origin.

Like Punisher shows up in his own show. Then he turns up in Daredevil or whatever. Kinda like the reverse of what theyre doing with Luke Cage

I see no harm in mentioning the Punisher at all, even if they never follow up on him. At least they've put him out there and can visit him later if they want to.

If they don't wanna run any more than four netflix series after defenders, they can put Luke cage and iron fist together in a heroes for hire show and make room for a punisher or she-hulk or blade show

I have no idea how they'd work a She-Hulk TV show into the MCU. All I know is that I want to see it.

In regards to the Defenders, I think we may see only one new hero outside of the current four to be introduced:

I don't see anyone else being introduced that would be another hero.

I imagine we'll see them first show up in Iron Fist. At least I hope so!

The epicness from that poster alone! Super stoked about the April release date and hope a trailer isn't far behind. :mrk:

It just dawned on me, looking at this poster, how sad it would be if Fox still had their greedy little paws on the character. Glad Marvel got him back and is able to do him justice.
I'm looking forward to this almost as much as Avengers 2, I never thought I'd get that excited over a Daredevil film (I've liked the character but have never really been big on him) but to see him brought to life as the first street-level hero in the MCU is going to be a real treat.
