Daredevil Daredevil General Discussion Thread - Part 3

I like the fact that all the villains are connected with one organization, with Kingpin as the leader of his criminal empire, Owl as his financial adviser, Melvin Potter as Kingpin's weapon designer, etc. This means that there will more likely be a one big continuing story, rather then a freak of the week style show, like Gotham has. Also just because Owl and Gladiator are working under Fisk, doesn't Owl can't have treacherous intentions and Gladiator can't switch sides by the end of the season.

I can't remember the last time where I re-watched a trailer as many times as I did with that 2nd Daredevil trailer.

The last time I came anywhere near to watching a trailer this frequently was back in 2004 with the teaser and first trailer for Batman Begins.

that song in the 2nd trailer really gets me going

there isn't a full version out yet, but hopefully we get it soon.

I have not been up to date. Had no idea Netflix was jumping here on the 31st. Praise.

Should we all just assume Marvel will drop a poster with the final costume to countdown the premiere? They're really being asses about this.

I wouldn't mind having the first look at the red suit while binge-watching the show

Too bad the Spider-Man deal didn't happen early enough so the Daily Bugle could've appeared on this show

Umm, no. I don't see how you came to that conclusion about Marvel.

My only hope is we're talking episode 10 as opposed to episode 13. But I do otherwise agree.

I'm trying to think of it in terms of, "What if that first Iron Man film had been stretched out to 13 hours? At what point in the narrative would we get to the point where he dons the red/gold armor for the first time to defend the Middle-Eastern village? Episode 8 or 9?" That seems like a reasonable point to expect him to upgrade costumes.

Do you guys think Marvel is ready to do spin-offs of characters from these series or is this going to be all phases again?

For me it was the Watchmen trailers, I remember replaying that almost every day until it was released.

Man...

Just imagine if the Daredevil film had been stretched out to 13 hours... :hehe:

Sorry, but that's just nothing more than a fantasy and is in no way reasonable or a valid comparison. A thing like that depends on way too many factors just to compare it to something else like that; I am 100% sure that no one involved with the show thought about it this way in order to decide when to show the real costume.

It's not an exact science, but both a film and a season of television like this operate on a three-act structure of sorts, though of course a TV series has more space to unfold. I'm not saying that's exactly how it's going to pan out, there are all kinds of variables on when the costume could actually show up. But in terms of empty speculation, which is all any of us are doing at this point, it's as fair a measuring stick as any. Not saying that this is how the showrunners decided it or that it's anything more than a loose analogy I was thinking about.

If by 'being asses about this' then you mean BADASSES, then yes, I completely agree. We are so ****ing spoiled today. We are so used to situations where we get pics and set pics and leaks, and 100% of the reveal is spent before watching the finished product.

This is badass how no one has a clue what the suit looks like. I hope they can keep this up and everyone has to watch it to see for themselves.

I haven't been this excited for a show in forever. This is the big event for me. I am going crazy with anticipation.

I wouldn't say so. Even if that's the case (having a three-act structure), they still play out very different in film and in TV. Besides, that's not a typical full season show on a regular TV channel, it's a 13-part series on Netflix, and even that by itself makes it very different from anything else you would normally compare it to.

But you are right, it's all empty speculation; I guess I just expect this show to really surprise me since they've decided to be so secretive about it, and not just about the costume and story elements, but just the way a superhero's origin story is told in such format.

 All of this is exactly how I feel.

I'm even looking forward to this more than AoU.

Well said. I'm REALLY looking forward to this, and one of my favourite things about the build-up is how little we actually know. I still feel like I got more about the show from the NYCC clips I saw last October than in any other marketing. I like how much of the show - including the big costume reveal - is being saved for the actual experience of watching the show.

God I can't wait to see that costume. In all it's red, horny glory. :awesome::daredevil
