Daredevil Daredevil General Discussion Thread - Part 4

Why? They'll just wish them luck, etc. It's not like they were consulted.

I tweeted at DeKnight to see if there was any chance that we could get season 2 before the Defenders but if he saw it he didn't tweet back :csad:

I am interested to see how these Netflix shows will cross over with Agents of Shield and the Marvel Cinematic Universe as a whole. I mean will we see Daredevil in a Marvel movie down the line? Will Shield (or what's left of it) make their presence known on the show? Could Daredevil or Matt Murdock make a cameo or Agents of Shield or vice versa? I mean Avengers tower is seen in the background in one of the episodes so this show definitely has ties to the overall MCU. The possibilities are endless!!!

Loeb already said not to expect the Netflix stuff to crossover to SHIELD or the movies anytime soon. I'm thinking after the Defenders mini gets a good response we will some some crossovers.

Maybe Coulson assembles the Defenders.

I highly doubt it

No thanks. SHIELD is starting to overstay it's welcome to me. I hope that since TWS happened, it's going to be less involved in everything that happens in the MCU.

If there's one thing I fault the MCU for, it's relying on SHIELD to be the connective tissue between absolutely everything.

It seems AoS will pretty much just be regulated to their show, although AoU is really the first time they have a chance to affect the MCU proper. I think it would be cool to see them have some effect on the movies but I think it's unlikely

Coulson assembling the Defenders makes no sense. They probably aren't going to be SHIELD agents.

Neither were most of the Avengers, it didn't stop Fury from assembling them.

Captain America, Black Widow, and Hawkeye were all SHIELD agents or associated with SHIELD. Iron Man was a consultant.

SHIELD is currently off the grid and in disarray. It makes no sense for Coulson to bring them together.

I think the comics are sort of to blame for SHIELD's heavy presence. Ever since the early 2000's Nick Fury and SHIELD have been incredibly omnipresent in the Marvel universe and popping up everywhere. I feel like prior to the 2000's you really didn't feel SHIELD's presence that much but I guess as Marvel was headed more and more into that "realism" realm with their comics they felt that "realistically" SHIELD would be everywhere and keeping tabs on everyone.

Any chance we could get a thread for each episode, like with weekly series, rather than having all discussion placed in one spot. I'm very unfamiliar with Daredevil so would like a place I can chat about each episode after I've watched it, rather than come into a general thread like this and get spoiled lol.

Idk if a mod could do that or something I'm sure it would work out well. Just a thought.

mkilban2, I would say no. The episodes aren't spread out. We get them all at once. Many of us will want to binge watch it and try to view it in one or two sittings.

Episodic threads are OK when shows are broadcast week to week. Not the case here.

Instead of coming on here and talking about an episode. Watch another episode. When you've finished them all come and talk about it. Treat it as a really long film.

I think we should have episode threads. Everyone should be able to watch the show at their own pace, and those who watch at a slower pace shouldn't be punished by not being allowed to discuss the show.

We can say General Discussion will be no -spoilers, but you know what it's like. I give it a day before some over-excitable poster blabs a key plot detail without adding a spoiler tag or throws up a screencap of the red costume.

I don't know, I think we'd need some sort of thread for people say only half way through who still want to talk about the show... Maybe some sort of progress thread? And then have a spoiler thread for when you've cinsihed watching or something

Yeah especially given what happened last night on the AoU thread where someone blurted out what happened in the junior novelization which is like the first hour of the film.

Some people just don't even think of the spoiler tag.

I talked to someone from SHH/CS who thinks she was housesitting for Jessica Jones. I think that would be kind of weird and goofy and too coincidental, but whatever.

I didn't get the sense that she had to be housesitting for someone important from a future show.

I think Luke or Danny are the likely options. I think they'll carry over her relationship with Cage by making her an ex-girlfriend of his. There was comic-con footage where she had an ex-boyfriend named 'Mike', and it sounds similar to Luke (and I don't think it was a callback to Mike Murdock). Danny Rand could also work if he travels back and forth between K'un-L'un.

Maybe Coulson assembles the Defenders.

Why not? Start all the threads all at once. That way those who binge watch can still discuss it, but those who want to spread it out will be able to discuss the episode they've finished without spoilers. I had already thought there was a consensus to do it that way.

I think it's the way to go. That way, everyone can discuss DD, without being spoiled. And those who saw every episodes can talk about the whole show. Everyone is a winner.

Perhaps a bit much, sure. But being the glue of the universe(on Earth at least...I didn't see any SHIELD in GotG) is kinda the entire idea behind Lee & Kirby creating them in the first place. It's their primary function.

Just hearing about that will make me avoid the AOU thread until I see the movie.

I agree that a thread for Each episode is the way to go IMO. That way if somebody is on one episode and the other person is 2 episodes ahead they don't get spoiled cause sometimes people don't use spoiler tags.

I still think they've messed Shield up to be honest.

I would have preferred if Hill was more like comic Hill. And then in TWS Fury could have legitimately died, but managed to get a message to Coulson to continue Shield as best he could.

However Hill could have then become the leader of 'real' Shield. So you'd have Fury's two protege's with differing Shields. Then Hills Shield could have then played a role in CW similar to comic Shield.

Instead we have kind of two irrelevant Shields. That I don't see having a major role in the MCU for some time. And we have Fury showing up for random cameos because SLJ still has films left on his contract.

There is zero chance of keeping individual episode threads spoiler free. It is inevitable that someone will watch up to episode 9, then go back to an earlier thread and mention something that hasn't happened yet.

Personally I don't care how it's handled but the only way to ensure you will remain unspoiled is to avoid the forums entirely until you've finished the show. All the SPOILER-FREE tags in the world won't eliminate inattentivness, stupidity and general lack of respect for others.
