Daredevil Daredevil General Discussion Thread - Part 4

I'm not gonna jeopardize being spoiled anything about this show, so I'l probably stay off the internet while I watch the show. Good thing I'm planning on watching everything this weekend. Can't believe it's almost here!

I like having a separate thread for each episode and a general one for final thoughts and spoiler discussions once you have seen them all (or just want to be spoiled). I will probably watch an episode and then just pop down to the quick reply box to give my thoughts to avoid any potential spoilers, then once I'm done go back and read through everyone's thoughts on a specific episode. I'll probably mainly stick to just the spoilery one after though since I will be watching all of them ASAP and I don't want to get something confused in which episode something happens and be "That Guy" haha

And then when I do a rewatch I'll probably and more specific thoughts on an episode down the line

I too think separate episodes and a spoiler thread are the way to go.

Cool art put up in Hell's Kitchen

This was Joe Quesada and apparently it was taken. Another one is being put up though. Apparently something is being put up tomorrow that hasn't been seen before.

That guy was kinda pissing me off with all the backhanded put downs for other shows. Yeah, I gave up on Gotham a dozen episodes in and I've not cared as much for AoS season 1 or Arrow season 3 but aside from that they aren't garbage.

DD doesn't need to have them brought down to raise itself up. It will stand up fine all on it's own, I'm sure.

So what is the concensus? Threads for each episode and then a spoiler thread? I'm all for this or at the very least something like a thread for episodes 1-3, 4-6, etc.

Threads for episodes 1-5 isn't going to work. I'm only watching 2 or 3 at a time. I don't want to hear about 4/5 when I've only seen 1-3.

Threads for 5 episodes at a time is too big of a chunk. I'd advocate 3 episode groupings, as like you say if you were to break up the viewings it would probably be in 2-3 episode increments. Optimal is a thread for every episode but you may not get much activity in them. We should probably decide this soon and get them up.

As long as there is a Season 1 discussion thread I am good.

Pretty much expected though as we know just like Agent Carter and AOS the netflix shows are part of the MCU.

We've known about that connection for like 20 months now.

Also:

Creel is not in the first five episodes. He's only mentioned by name. We don't see any of the actual fight with Jack Murdock. It all happens off camera.

Maybe they will show more of it later, we shall see.

My theory is that the acquisition of his powers explains the apparent discrepancy in his age.

Edit: Just read that release and it's more that Creel is supposed to be around 18-20 there. Ok, that works too.

The discrepancy in age is not a problem. Some people just have a hard time doing math.

Think about this. Matt is probably about 11-12 at the time his dad fights Creel. In the series, Matt and Foggy are fresh out of law school, just graduated, completed their internship and are setting up their own practice. So they are probably like 28-ish at this point. Possibly younger.

Creel was called the "younger" fighter. Meaning younger than Jack Murdock. You can be a pro fighter in your early 20's.

So what does that mean? Let's say about 16-17 years have passed since Jack Murdock died. That could still put Creel in his 30s. Brian Patrick Wade is almost 37. In other words...it's a stupid thing to nitpick about.

Are we all forgetting how fast Jim Gordon's kids aged between Batman Begins and Dark Knight Rises? In a year, they looked like they aged five years. No one complained about that.

Rory MacDonald made his UFC debut when he was in his late teens. He is fighting for the title this summer.

Chances are, Creel was a young up and coming prospect, and the promoters wanted him to beat a more experienced, lesser name who had some experience to build him up. That's how it works in combat sports. You don't have to be 25 and older to be a boxer.

Um, I'm a smart kid believe me, but would you kind simplifying that?

Referring to Creel being old enough to box Matt's dad decades before Matt becomes DD. He wasn't all that old when we saw him in present day at the beginning of season 2 of AoS. That's what I mean.

Yeah, I commented without reading the release. My theory is still possible but rather unnecessary after I read the release and got more context of the fight itself(younger fighter and all that).
