Daredevil Season 2 Review (Spoiler-Free)


The bad news is that Daredevil season 2 fails to address some of season one’s weaknesses. I can't really say that there's a supporting character who has emerged to take the place of Vondie Curtis-Hall's Ben Urich, so that's a presence that feels a little missed. The pacing, handily season one’s biggest flaw, hasn’t improved, and there’s no shortage of overwritten, overwrought dialogue, often delivered in long chunks. Sometimes it’s expository (which is little excuse), and other times, well, it feels like these characters just want to hear themselves talk.

Why are you only posting the negatives from the review and not the part where he said that if you liked S1 you will love S2 as well? You know posting that segment only will have people paranoid.

They say good things about Elektra/Elodie Yung:

Elodie Yung’s Elektra Natchios is the character to watch, though. The mysterious woman from Matt’s past is not only clever and cold, but every bit the physical match for Daredevil, as well as everyone else she crosses paths with. Elektra’s motives are unclear, as are her intentions towards Matt, which makes hers the more compelling of the many stories the season is juggling. Just as surely as the first season of this show effectively erased the 2003 film from everyone's memories, Bernthal and Yung can safely be considered the definitive versions of these characters.

TV Review: ‘Marvel’s Daredevil’ Season 2

No half measures here - sticking with the formula that made the first season such a refreshing hit, Season 2 is full of dark themes, intricately choreographed fights and riveting dialogue. Throw in some well done debuts of two beloved Marvel Comics characters and you've got yourself a worthy return to Hell's Kitchen.

mmmmeh. Hope it's an origin so to speak for her as well. Not hoping for anything near what the comics look like but something a little bit more interesting than an oversized turtleneck.

I think DD struggled with regards to pacing after Stick's debut, with the writing not being as strong as the earlier eps Goddard wrote. (Should do a rewatch though so I can solidify my opinion on that before S2 starts though) That being said, the reviews have a lot more positives to them than negatives, so I'll continue to remain excited. Really, really glad to hear about Elektra and Punisher being done right.

Looking at all these praises for elektra and punisher characterisation, I just cant wait to see bullseye in that netflix show..he is the craziest of that bunch!
