Do you guys think they are going to try to do away with his suit all together for good?
It would not surprise me if they did, I think Cox mentioned recently that he found the ' Biker' costume a little uncomfortable and Olesen's commented about not wanting the show to be 'costume porn' like Arrow/Flash

This just seems like an arc for the character though. To reclaim the symbol.

Doesn't have to be costume porn, just don't put everyone in a costume for no reason. Matt has one. I just think it is too late now. They already did it for a whole season and most of Defenders. Back tracking now looks worse than just never going there in the first place. In the end, it is based on a comic book and should respect that.

And it's the only MCU Netflix show that actually uses a costume. To take it away would invoke so much anger from its comic book fan base.

I'm kinda hoping he gets a brand red costume thats not the "biker" look. Something more akin to the comics and better for Cox to move in like the black ninja suit.

Hopefully the red suit doesn't go away. I LOVE the mask and the rest of it is pretty cool too. I'd love it if they streamlined the bodysuit a bit so it doesn't look quite so armored but if it stays as-is, that's fine. I've never felt that DD or any of the Netflix shows have fallen into the "costume porn" problem that the CW's superhero shows have. I mean, they gave JIMMY OLSEN a superhero costume, lol.

Ugh. More costume complaining. Must be Tuesday.

Well, as we see in the footage. Poindexter wears it.

So how many episodes is this season? Ten would be ideal as we all know the Netflix series are all about 3 episodes too long.

So I can talk about it now I guess. I saw the screeners for the first six. Here's my official spoiler-free review.

Dare I ask if "brooding Matt" is kept to a minimum? Because I feel like he's been stuck in this "brooding phase" since about midway through season 2 and hope that he snaps out of that not too far into the first half. I'm assuming it doesn't last past episode 3 since some of the other reviews say that episodes 1-3 are slow burning and focused on Matt’s broken state. I mean, much has been made about this season drawing inspiration from "Born Again", so most likely they're drawing mainly from three themes: Matt and Fisk's rivalry, Matt and Karen both being broken yet finding the strength and love from one another to begin to rebuild their lives (Deborah Ann Woll has talked about Karen being there for Matt even when he doesn't want her, and needing to work through her inner demons with Wesley's death); and that the real hero is Matt Murdock, while Daredevil is just a costume. Hopefully the season will be able to do all that. For as much as "Born Again" may have brought Matt to an absolute low, he also ended that arc on a high note through his reconciliation with Karen.

To be fair, Jimmy Olsen has worn many superhero costumes over the years in the comics. At least they didn't attempt any of these...

But yeah I agree with your general point.

The short answer is no.

I loved both DD S1 and DD S2, but hearing that this is closer to Season 1 is definitely exciting.

The short answer is no.

I just feel that the pendulum needs to swing back, and Matt needs to give his friends a real reason to care about him, and I worry that they'll drag that out too much for contrived drama. In the comics, Matt has entire runs that he spends being fairly functional and semi-normal without being a walking catastrophe. The writers have to know that the brooding must be getting old at some point. I do expect this season to (eventually) resolve that. From interviews, it seems that Oleson wants to take Matt in a new direction that forces him to get over a lot of the unresolved baggage that is preventing him from progressing as a character. And the pendulum does need to swing back, otherwise it'll come off like the writers are obsessed with making Matt miserable and not letting him be happy.

Buzzing for this next week, love both seasons of DD so glad it sounds like the high standard has been maintained for one more season at least.

LOL yessss, if they gave him the Turtle Boy costume, I would watch the **** out of that. And hey, Cat Grant was involved in that subplot I think, so it could fit into the Supergirl show, haha.

Speaking of DC shows, I just heard that Bane is going to show up on Gotham. WTF? Is Bruce going to get his back broken before he becomes Batman? I’m glad I stopped watching that show years ago.

From what I’ve read in other reviews,
Sister Maggie won’t give Matt an inch to wallow in self pity. This, coupled with a ‘slip’ in another review (where Matt decides to put himself deliberately in harm’s way in order to end it all), makes me suspect that prolonged despair will be unlikely. I think it will be necessary, given that his actions in Season 2 were mostly an exercise in self-sabotage, for Matt to hit rock bottom properly... and experience catharsis, before finding a more balanced and realistic attitude towards his circumstances. Although many of the early reviews mostly say that episodes 1-3 are slow burning and focused on Matt’s broken state, maybe that's to be expected when that amounts to half of the viewing they’ve been given. I would expect that in the balance of 13 episodes, the initial self-absorption will only better unfold the evolution of Matt Murdock. I mean, he did end the comics "Born Again" on a triumphant note, so...

In terms of Matt's relationship with Foggy and Karen, I really want to see a real basis for them to continue loving Matt. It’s hard to see how that could happen given the mountain of lies between them. I think they both need to see Matt vulnerable. It’s the one thing he’s (mostly) denied them in the past. With Daredevil in pieces, there’s going to be more of Matt on display. If they still love him, then there should be enough grace to at least maintain the connection. I imagine the shared trauma in store for all three of them, courtesy of Fisk and Dex, will go some way to breaking down barriers, too. Some set photos establish that Matt is back in touch with Foggy by episode 3, and given what's been said about Karen's arc in reviews and
her holding out hope Matt is alive
, I expect her to learn Matt's alive around the same time. Even if things are uneasy, I don't want it to be something of "Matt brooding in the corner and only interacting with Karen and Foggy when he needs to be a dick to them". I really want to see Matt, Karen and Foggy back together as a unit. Not necessarily the same as they were before, but the emotional connections restored.

There was no way that was going to happen after how Defenders ended.

Both seasons of DD were pretty spot on in terms of length.

Well it needs to happen by the end of the season. Clearly, the season starts with him at rock bottom so I expect the first half of the season to be pretty bleak and emotional for Matt. I think the despair being described in these reviews stems from his injuries, his loss of identity and purpose and, maybe even fear of living without his gifts intact. That's a lot of baggage for Matt to work through before he can be a whole person again. Honestly, if the season ends with a scene inspired by the last panel of "Born Again" of Matt and Karen walking through Hell's Kitchen, I'll be pretty satisfied (and there's definitely grounds for this given we've seen two other comics-inspired shots just in the trailers; like the scene of Fisk sitting at a wall of TV monitors from "Born Again", or a role reversal of Karen's death from "Guardian Devil" where Karen is sobbing and comforting an unconscious Matt).
