Daredevil Daredevil General Discussion Thread - Part 8

Not sure if anyone has seen this, but:

Interest in Netflix's 'Luke Cage' and 'Iron Fist' dropped dramatically over time, and its other Marvel shows could also be in trouble

I’m going to be bummed if this is next on the chopping block! :csad:

I refuse to believe it. Season 3's getting good buzz. Granted, they do have a point Netflix in general hasnt been advertising these marvel shows like they used to. I work in NYC and i remember when season one came out Daredevil ads would be on HUGE billboards in Times Square so it was getting a heavy push. I havent seen any ads for this season outside of the internet.

Silly not to advertise this season given just how good it is.

Well, I've been lurking for quite some time and I even had an older account with a different handle (and I mean a much older account, like over ten years... I think I've been here in some form or another ever since Batman Begins and the first couple Raimi Spider-Man films). Even though I posted from time to time, I just never been very active and only had a handful of posts to show for on that account. Since the forums got a makeover recently, I decided to start a new account from scratch.

But thanks for the welcome anyway, even if it's actually a welcome back. I appreciate it.
Ah good to know, and welcome back in that case! I look forward to more discussions with you then mate.

We'll see. It looks more like click bait to me. Remember, season 3 of Luke Cage WAS going to happen. Scripts and such were being written for it. It just got cancelled before they finished developing it. Netflix had access to whatever data they use before they made this decision, so this doesn't ring true to me.

Very much click-bait. Yeah all that's based on social media analytics. Make of it what you will.

I still recall reacting to her stylized delivery of "Hello, Matthew" in the trailer like :woo:. I've had issue with some of her storylines, but love the characterization.

The trailer is still one of the best next season previews I've ever watched, and the Elektra tease is the perfect cap to it. Nobody does stingers like Marvel.

It’s not impossible to be cancelled. Good TV shows with good buzz do get cancelled all the time if rating isn’t there, conspiracy theories aside. No one really knows the number on this only educated guess at best.

The DD trailers have been top drawer.

It’s certainly possible for Daredevil to be cancelled (especially with Netflix making deals with creators like Millarworld); I don’t think anyone here thinks season 4 is a sure thing. But based on buzz and reception I think we can be certain that DD is safer than Punisher and JJ at the moment. (Though if they want to cancel all Marvel shows they can cancel DD tomorrow but won’t announce Punisher’s and JJ’s cancellations until after new seasons are released).

They can cancel DD but another network or platform can pick it up. Maybe that's the only Netflix show that will be on the Disney service and be an official part of the MCU. Who knows! Stranger things have happened. I think the whole Daredevil show is the only one big and good enough to be a part of the cinematic side.

Got these video interviews for you all they also be in the actor's thread's for those that don't go here for what ever reason.

Daredevil’s Show-Runner on the Future of the Marvel Netflix Franchise
Vanity Fair: I know you can’t talk too much about Season 4, but what guidance did Marvel TV give you when it came to setting up another chapter?

Erik Oleson: Well, you’re right that I can’t talk about it, except to say that I hope to have a Season 4 and to run it. But we’ll have to see what the future holds in terms of how many people watch and what the response is to Season 3. I will say that we hinted at a few things, but whether we come back directly or not is still up in the air. At the end of Season 3, Marvel didn’t want me to permanently damage any of the toys. I had to put them all back in the box.

What does the news about Iron Fist and Luke Cage being canceled do to those hopes?

As I understand it, each one of these shows has their own viewership, and Netflix takes it on a case-by-case basis. Look, I’m not blind to the emergence of the Disney streamer and a potential Netflix competitor. What I can control is coming up with a good story, and telling it with great writers and great actors and a great crew, and just really doing the best that we can with the show. And my corporate overlords will decide the future that all of us will have. Let’s just hope that we get to do it again.

Honestly, if there is another season, I hope Oleson is not the showrunner.

They pretty much teased full on Bullseye

I'm happy that people are unhappy with the character backstep. How do you "evolve" past body armor, Matt get a Deadpool level healing factor? And like his radar perception, we only get to see it once?

Does anyone know if repeat viewing of a show counts for extra views that benefit a show's stats? If so I will keep rewatching DD.

If it does, then I've been doing my part for all these shows :oldrazz:

Nice one

DD needs all our support, but I'd also love if anyone knew the answer as to whether repeat viewings count towards their stats.
