Daredevil Daredevil General Discussion Thread - Part 8

Come on, please! The human race will be judged on this by future generations. :cwink:

I don't know how this usually works with Netflix, but isn't it a bit weird that a succesful show like DareDevil still has to be pitched after 3 good/great seasons? (And doing it so publicly)

I get it that they needed to discuss Iron Fist, and to a lesser extent Luke Cage, but I assumed getting DareDevil renewed would be a slam dunk

I really need more Daredevil in my life. I love how passionate Erik Oleson is about the show too. After how he handled season 3, he really deserves another season.
Yep, absolutely no question of that. And I trust him to maintain the standards set by this consistently awesome show.

AFAIK showrunners always need to come up with what they plan to do in the new season (i.e. pitch), networks then approve of the ideas/ plans (and require for modification if necessary) and renew the show.

If we get a season 4, I really hope we get an episode or even a multi-episode arc of Matt actually being just a lawyer. Call me cynical, but I feel like they just brush over his job and the show kinda forgets at times that Matt's supposed to be a summa cumlaude lawyer.

I mean, I do realize since the show is called Daredevil, they'll probably never have it where we see an episode that doesn’t have at least a bit of Matt beating up people as Daredevil. But I really would love to see the show have just a little more emphasis on Matt's day job. I really would've liked to see more of Matt lawyering in season 3 and using the legal system to pursue Fisk, as opposed to only trying that when bringing in Jasper Evans and when trying to use the grand jury with Nadeem. Matt seems to have a lot of talent as a lawyer whenever the writers allow him to show it off.

I'd like him to be a lawyer as well. They need to do a better job with the writing than they did in season two, though. I've suggested that they show him being a lawyer without trying to force it into the plot if they have to. The beginning of Defenders was probably the best example of that.

And there are any number of opportunities where they could create some lawyering arcs for Matt, like maybe getting Melvin's name cleared.

I think helping Melvin would be a good use of Matt's lawyer life.

I would love that - especially if they somehow bring in Larry Cranston (Mr. Fear).

My biggest issue is trying to find a season with Mr. Fear and Bullseye that doesn't run into the problems of season two.

I'd have loved if that was what Matt spent episode 9 of season 3 doing. I feel that would've been a much better use of screentime than have Matt spend an entire episode moping around Fogwell's having conversations with hallucinatory figures.

I believe we'll get a fourth season. Surely the viewership is a factor, but quality must be too. There are many cases of quality shows that got renewed even if they didn't get stellar ratings (Fringe comes to mind). I know this is a different media, but still, they gotta know the critical success of the 3rd season of Daredevil.

Sorry to hear this.
Perhaps The Disney Streaming service will pick it up.

Welp. Feels like the whole Netflix/Marvel thing is over. JJ and Punisher seem doomed.

Ouch. I mean, where do these shows go? I doubt Disney's streaming service caters to mature content, so perhaps Hulu since Disney would have a huge stake in that?

Assuming these shows even continue or find new life after cancellation.
