Daredevil Daredevil General Discussion Thread - Part 8

Going with a story were the title character hardly wears their costume - just like with Punisher.

Netflix just hates dem dam costumez, eh?

They don't hate costumes, they just think that the more you use them, the less special they are.

:oldrazz:

I would normally agree, but if the story line is based on Born Again, it makes sense if he doesn't have it for a while. That was a primarily Matt driven story. Plus, Matt probably won't immediately be going back into action this season. It may take a few episodes. Given the whole coming back from the dead thing.

Personally, I hope Matt is back in contact with Karen and Foggy by the second episode at the latest, and resurrected publicly by the third episode at the latest. They shouldn't waste too much time on Matt's big return. I feel like unless Fisk is already making moves by the time Matt has recovered, he really should tell them he’s alive within the first two episodes.

And how long will Matt be gone? The visible injuries he has when we saw him in the convent don’t look any worse than the injuries he received from his fight with Fisk and Nobu in the dockhouse in season 1 episode 9.

Eh... Then why have Matt "die" at all in the first place if is brushed off by episode two? Especially if itgoing to end up he was only laid up for short time?

Not to bring in other shows but that feels like the lackluster approach of the CW shows.

Fisk isn't going to be spending much time to destroy the life of someone he believes to be dead. And furthermore, since Matt's life self-destructed in season 2, he needs to have some kind of quality life for Fisk to destroy. It would make more sense for Matt to return, and be making efforts to get his life back on track before Fisk begins taking action. I just feel that they need to jump into the action right away, and that spending too much time on Matt's big return wouldn't be a good choice. I would rather season 3 not do something along the lines of "Matt doesn't tell Foggy and Karen that he's alive in order to protect them" to get some cheap drama out of him being alive. It would be just awful of Matt if he lets his loved ones go on thinking he’s dead for a moment longer than necessary. And if Matt delays, he better have a damn good reason for delaying. I just hope the writers will do Matt, Karen and Foggy's reconciliation justice, that they won't have the personal conflict from season 2 just be swept under the rug and forgotten about. Which is the reason I think he should contact them to let them know he's alive sooner rather than later and by whatever means are available.

And part of me really just wants a scene of Matt, Karen and Foggy all in the same room together sooner rather than later, because the last time the three of them shared a scene was way back in 2x10 when Reyes died. That was over two and a half years ago, and in The Defenders, we had no Matt+ Karen+ Foggy scenes; it was just Matt + Karen, Matt + Foggy, or Foggy + Karen, but never all three at once.

I don't know if I should be posting this, by the way, but it looks like screener copies of Daredevil season 3 are already being released to some reviewers. https://***********/DanielRPK/status/1027632367110893568

When is season 3 meant to be released?

Weird. Reviewers haven't been sent Iron Fist yet, have they?

Ah, well I guess it's not that weird then. But yeah, this is obviously coming out fairly soon, then.

You'd think if that was the case though, they'd have a more firm date. Maybe they're afraid it might take away from some of the Iron Fist 2 excitement.

I'm guessing the end of Iron Fist will have a DD trailer with a (very close) release date.

How much free time do they think I have? A November release date would be perfect. An October one would be a little rough.

Perhaps they're planning on giving us a surprise release of Daredevil season 3 at NYCC. That would certainly be a big game changer for Netflix to do a surprise drop for their flagship show. Would be the second time this year a Netflix Marvel show had an unusual release date (since Jessica Jones season 2 was released on a Thursday instead of on a Friday). I'm still waiting for them to make some announcement regarding the NYCC panel for Daredevil, which the longer things go on, I feel will be a 90 minute event with the first episode being screened after the Q&A. I think Charlie Cox has already confirmed himself for that, and I think the other cast most likely to be there will be Deborah Ann Woll, Elden Henson, and Vincent D'Onofrio, and possibly also Jay Ali, Wilson Bethel and Amy Rutberg.

By the way, sidenote, let's also give our congratulations to Elodie Yung, who has given birth to her first child.

The screeners for Iron Fist only went out last week. Oddly, we're still waiting for an Iron Fist trailer to come out (all we've got are a date announcement and a teaser, but no actual official trailer) and that show is due out next month.

If Daredevil comes out in October, I will be super stoked

Either they're doing a surprise at NYCC, or maybe they're planning to release it in the week or so after that (since I think Netflix would want a two or three week buffer between the releases of Daredevil season 3 and House of Cards' final season).

Maybe we should expect a late October release.

I just watched the first 6 episodes of Season 3 of a certain show about a blind superhero and am under strict embargo not to review until mid OCTOBER

Cool. Like others have said I’m glad that we have all four of the Defenders shows this year.

So October it is! My birthday month is giving me lots of Drew Goddard-y goodness to look forward to. :D

We September birthday people always get the less cool prize :csad:

It would be cool to have those shows close to each other. First IF2 on my birthday and then a month later DD3. I am really hoping these shows are linked, so it feels right watching them in order.
