DAREDEVIL REBOOT: How would you do it?

Call me crazy, but I'm thinking they could pull off a Daredevil 2 type of movie that loosely follows the first film, but is different enough, with different actors, etc. that it could feel like a reboot.

Director: Ben Affleck
Maybe it's divine inspiration, but something tells me he's perfect. He loves the character and he's shown that he's pretty good behind the camera directing a dark drama. After the original film, he'll have the drive to prove himself to the fans.

Matt Murdock/Daredevil: Matt Damon or Damian Lewis (TV's "Band of Brothers" and "Life")
No need to vouch for Damon, since many seem to agree he's perfect. Otherwise, I think Damian Lewis would be very good in the part. He's an excellent actor and I think he looks the part as well (doesn't hurt that he's a red head). His face also has a quality that doesn't take too much to imagine it behind a mask.

Elektra: Sarah Shahi (TV's "The L Word" & "Life")
I can't really vouch for Ms. Shahi's talent. She's not a bad actress, but her TV work has never particularly stood out to me. She is, however, the spitting image of Greg Horn's rendering of Elektra and I'm just taking this opportunity to point that out. :)

Bullseye: Kevin McKidd (TV's "Rome" and "Journeyman")
He has a rather crazy look in his eyes that makes me think he could pull off Bullseye. If you've seen "Rome", you'll know how badass he is. Doesn't hurt that he's a damn fine actor.

Kingpin: ???
It's a tough role to cast as I can't think of anyone as physically imposing. Something tells me that if Albert Finney was younger and perhaps taller, he'd be pretty good. But alas, pipedreams. :)

Foggy Nelson: Paul Giamatti
Despite looking kinda old (actually, only three years older than Matt Damon), I think he could pull off Nelson. It's pretty much what he does. Doesn't hurt that he's a fantastic actor.

Wow.... I see a lot of you saying the DC of this is one of the better movies out there. I still have not seen the DC and am wondering what the major differences are in the two.

I thought the theatrical version was really awful. The only thing I really liked about the theatrical version was the "radar" scenes. I thought those were captured very well.

Making the Kingpin into an African-American did NOT sit well with me and Affleck could not act his way out of a wet paper bag. Just look at all the other crap he's done. The only thing he has done worth anything was when he was a supporting role in Good Will Hunting.

Anyway, please elaborate on the differences in the two versions. It would help to get me out to the store to rent it ...

Interesting pics for sure. Ben,hes proving himself very capable as a director, I still think hes a decent actor, just pics the dumb ass roles.. If he would do something like this maybe he can coax his brother to play DD/Matt

DD: matt damon, ya, he could do a good job,but would he be willing to play this role at his age,and be attached to a movie like this...Casey Afflack,Ben's brother..

Bullseye: ya the guy from ROME could pull it off, mabye even tim olopyth(sp),guy from Hitman..

Kingpin: Would really like MCD to comeback, hes a good actor. Strange as this sounds the guy from Troy;the big ass dude at beginning that got killed by achilies at start of movie..don't know his name....
I don't think I want to see Elektra in this movie,at least in the role she was in first..Depends if this is gonna be a reboot or sequel, but No thanks on elektra..

DC was a tad better,it had more scenes that added more story to the movie.
Far as changing race for major characters, well thats a hit or miss imo. I did'nt mind MCD playing kingpin, and really did'nt take that much away because of his race.. Now in Spawn when they made spawns best friend white instead of black, that kindof took away from the film..Its just hollywood trying be too worried about appeasing all audience's.. Just not gonna happen, but as some would say if the actor is going to add more to the movie, then who cares if hes not the same race..
Afflack is'nt a bad actor, hes just not picking the right roles for his acting style. Now apparently his brother Casey is a way better than Ben,though Im not sure, never seen him act.

Casey affleck probably could pull the role off better than his brother, I would have MCD back as kingpin, but this wouldn't be a remake it would be a reboot like the incredible hulk. I was thinking Justin theroux would be good for Mr. fear after reading some of the new Daredevil arc with Mr. Fear. I would have Paul Giamatti as the Owl.

Avoid doing it at all...? Seriously, I don't think that some fans seem to notice how Daredevil is a character who isn't really appealing in the superpowers department and tends to fall into the established realms of other characters' shticks. Crime fighting mixed in with superhuman senses is something Spidey does with much more appeal.

It's simple, in the end- some Marvel heroes are not cut for the big screen.

DD not appealing in superpower dept.?

You are clearly speaking for yourself aren't you?

I don't know of any other actor that could play Kingpin off the top of the dome with the height and massiveness and skill that MCD has....

I wonder what that boxer Butterbean is up to :)

MCD is good in my book.

Probably why he was cast in the first place, because he was the best man for the job

Needs to be more brutal. Thats pretty much it. You know why Jennifer Garner didnt pull of Elektra? Because she wasnt Brutal enough. You know why Ben Affleck didnt pull off DD, because he WAS'NT BRUTAL ENOUGH.

I'm sorry i don't agree with this. I thought DD was the most brutal of all the superhero movies. He killed the guy in the beginning by pushing him in front of the train, the beat the crap out of one of the thugs in front of his son. He took out a broken tooth, had scars all over his back. I thought it was the most honest superhero out there.

I thought elektra was good, just not well written. I don't like affleck's acting, but i didn't think it was bad enough for it to be the reason.

 Agree a lot (except the Affleck thing, Affleck rules!)

Should they keep the same costume as the previous movie or change it?

okay. DD was good. he didnt kill the guy. he was defending himself. the DC makes it more clear that he was defending himself a lil bit. he didn't know the son was there. and it was the most honest superhero movie out there.

Elektra's DC was better than the theatrical i thought. it added some violence to the movie that it was missing.

but i'd like to see a reboot/sequel like they're doin with the Punisher.

I had actually mentioned him before in another thread somewhere. Here's the pic I used.

I actually like the idea of John Goodman playing Kingpin, I can see it, I mean he played a big mean guy in O brother where art thou.

Personally, I still can't figure out exactly why the Daredevil movie was received so poorly by us fans. As far as the things I didn't like, I honestly don't think I could've done any better.

But most fans just don't feel that way, so in an effort to better understand the situation, I ask: HOW WOULD YOU DO IT?

i thought it would have been amazing if not for the wire fights. they had spent the entire marketing campaign on how gritty it was then they pull the crouching tiger bs for fight scenes, and the fight in the playground? i mean honestly. do you know what movie had the best or at least most realistic fight scenes ive seen in any movie of the genre? batman begins. i know nobody liked the fights in that movie but they were as realistic as you can get with that type of story. he'd tackle them to the ground, punch em a few times, and move on. i wouldve liked to see daredevil gnp in the movie. (for those who haven't guessed im an mma fighter and avid fan of the sport)

I would have liked less CGI and more stunt work for when he did jumps off buildings and stuff.

Dang! He sure has the look for the Kingpin, but he is a boxer, not sure if he knows how to act. But the look is dead on. What's his name by the way?

That's an interesting choice.

Agreed.

His name is Butterbean, and it would have been awesome if they would have used wire work or stunt people instead of cgi, it could have easily been done.

Woody Harrelson has always been my top choice for Bullseye.
