Daredevil reboot: official discussion thread - Part 2

I actually liked a little of what Carnahan had to say about his take on the character. Maybe Marvel should give him a shot when they get the rights back...unless they think they can get Martin Scorsese.

Marvel should agree that Fox can have until 2015 to film Daredevil as long as they get the rights back for Fantastic Four, and as long as Fox agree to use Edgar Wright as their director.

I doubt Fox gives up FF for an extension on Daredevil. FF I believe has more blockbuster potential then DD.

As for if Daredevil goes back to Marvel, do you guys think there is any chance they bring him into the MCU?

I think Dark Raven was being purposely ridiculous. As for DD being brought into the MCU, I think the chances go up 100% if the rights revert.

Yep. Edgar Wright should be in charge of all Fox properties that Marvel wants. That way we know he will make it a priority to meet the expiry deadline... once he finishes the next film after the one he's working on in 2 years time (if that gets off the ground)! :oldrazz:

I think if Marvel can get DD back, they can make a Marvel Knights movie that exists within the MCU, but loaded with street-level heroes like DD and Punisher and stayed away from the spotlights. They can deal with the underbelly of the society, and financial and criminal underworld. But they need DD to make the whole thing work.

Btw, I found it interesting that Marvel would make an attempt to get Galactus and Silver Surfer back through an extension of the DD rights, but Fox apparently had other plans for these two characters. What a missed opportunity.

I guarantee fox has no plans for ss and g. They're just sitting on them. This whole ordeal is like that annoying kid who won't trade his pokemon cards.....

Or like the Aesop's Fable "The Dog in the Manger".

Unfortunately it's possible Fox could own the rights to the pitch Carnahan made for Daredevil so he probably wouldn't be able to use the same specific one at Marvel for example.

70's style serpico take on DD sound very ambitious and thats the last word i associate with MS

Are.....are you serious? Marvel Studios, the film studio that created a unified universe throughout their films and an idea that could have gone up in flames if not pulled off correctly.....can't be described as "ambitious"?

project seems to think in order to be ambitious... you've got to take the characters you know and love and put them in a completely new light or situation... even if it means sacrificing character... if they're a carbon copy of the books they're apparently not ambitious enough for him..

I think that gets incredibly old... and X-men are a great example of that.... 4 movies with Xavier vs Magneto and the strong allegory of predjudiceness is a bit much imo.. yes.. it should always be a theme of the x-men, but... at the same time there's plenty of villains and stories that don't make that the direct focus... it's not ambitious to continue carrying that conception... it's lazy writting to always put it fore-front

QFT

How in the world is Marvel Studios not "ambitious"? Who is ambitious then? WB? LOL

Um, no. A pitch is just that --- a pitch. It's not a property. It's just some guy saying, "Hey, wouldn't it be neat if....." If they bought a *treatment* with Carnahan's story, that's a property.

As for Marvel getting DD back into the fold: it's pretty much all over but the cryin' (or shoutin'). And I'm personally glad as hell that Marvel gets him (and, presumably, Elektra and all associated characters with). But I'm really hoping Marvel starts moving on these "Marvel Knights" characters soon, because there's enormous potential there, either as television properties or as smaller budget feature films that could be managed by a Marvel Studio subsidiary. We know now that Marvel owns Luke Cage, Iron Fist, Blade, Punisher, Daredevil, Elektra, Moon Knight, Cloak & Dagger, Mockingbird, Jessica Jones, and plenty more "street level" heroes; I'd hate to see these guys wasted while Marvel concentrates solely on 2-3 big budget tentpoles with the A & B-listers in the larger "four color" universe.

If Marvel gets Elektra back, they better not put her in red pants again. She has to be pantless thsi time with just that red loincloth going on which teases the viewers whether she's actually wearing any underwear down there or not.

I was really hoping for Silver Surfer and Galactus to be back at Marvel... I love the idea of Marvel getting their characters rights back... But let's be honest, Marvel is not going to be doing a DareDevil film anytime soon.

How long has Black Panther, Luke Cage, Doctor Strange, etc. have been stuck in development hell. But who knows how long will we have to wait for the next DD film.

I would rather see him stay at Fox and let Carnahan do the film... I certainly liked his pitch and would Definitely want to see that story...

Silver Surfer on the other hand would be so awesome in the MCU... Imagine doing a Scene with Thor and Iron Man taking him on in the sky...

Having Galactus and Thanos team up?!? Or maybe even. Thanos vs Galactus! (I hate FOX)

If Marvel gets the rights to DD back, I think Kingpin will be introduced almost immediately in the MCU even if they wait to introduce Matt.

With villains like Doom, Magneto, Galactus, Mephisto, Osborune all out of their control, Marvel needs well known villains. They can make Kingpin into a major player to set up their street-level heroes or even provide a secondary threat to the current ones.

I think Kingpin was on loan from Sony according to Avi Arad.

So wait, Fox wanted Sony to loan them Kingpin, but now they don't want to loan Galactus and Silver Surfer to Marvel?

Imagine if the Affleck DD movie couldn't be made with Kingpin. Who would they have gone to instead? Or would they have made the movie at all?

Who knows, but yeah, Kingpin is actually a Spidey villain first.

Are you sure? Because during Spectacular Spider-man the writers wanted to introduce Kingpin as the mastermind behind all of Spidey's troubles, only they couldn't because Kingpin was a DD character and hence off-limits to Sony.
