Also it had Matt Murdock a blind man doing flips and what not effortlessly. It's just stupid

Yeah, he shouldn't even be able to fight crime, do any of his acrobatic stuff, swing from his billy club over NY or even be Daredevil. Matt Murdock as DD is totally ridiculous. :whatever:

It could've been done better, but I did appreciate the playground scene despite its shortcomings. Trying to woo an action girl into giving up her name in front of an audience is sort of the kind of cavalier stunt that is right up Matt's alley.

The sad thing is, as dumb an idea the scene was, it still was the best martial arts in the whole film.

I can accept a character's powers, no problem. Is it ridiculous that a blind man can perform martial arts and has super senses? Not in the world of this movie.

But, when people are watching a blind man do flips and karate without thinking, "there's something weird about that blind guy," that's asking too much. No matter what powers a character may have, the story needs to be grounded in some sort of reality. And, when a playground full of people act unrealistically, it pulls me out of the world that's been created.

But the kids in the playground didn't know who Matt was, much less know or are certain that he was in fact blind. And being kids, it's not unreasonable that they would ignore such unrealism in light of the fact that there's an ultra-cool karate smackdown going down in their playground. Now if Elektra (who was a grown woman and was familiar that she was in fact dealing with an alleged blind man) didn't voice her skepticisms you might have a point, but she did so you don't.

I can see Joss whedon giving matt a good supporting role in a future film..

I want Steven Pasquale (Rescue Me) to play Matt Murdock on an FX/AMC drama, featuring Chi McBride (Pushing Daisies) as Kingpin.

The main problem with the playground scene in Daredevil is that a playground full of kids in a city supposedly rampant with crime is part of the whole tonal problem with that movie. It goes from grimdark with DD killing that murderer in the subway to him playfully jumping around on playground equipment? Bah.

The other 90% of the problem with that movie was equal parts Evanescence soundtrack (without it, it would just be a forgettable movie, instead of actively bad) and an inexplicably British Bullseye (though at least Farrel was a good actor...). That's actually one movie where I wish there was some kind of Director's Cut because upon rewatching it recently I can tell there is a decent movie in there somewhere, waiting to be freed by heavy editing.

For Kingpin, if you are going to make him black again, just get Michael Clarke Duncan back. He was fine as Kingpin. I had no complaints about that (although another large black actor who is a better actor in my opinion is Ving Rhames). You need somebody who is big and imposing. I don't think Chi McBride can deliver...if he started pumping iron, though, maybe. He was a good actor in Human Target but being fat made him into more of a comic relief character at times than someone who is supposed to be physically imposing.

EDIT: Oh, he isn't tall at all, but Michael Jai White is pretty darn imposing, I have to say...if they went with that '70s style version that guy was shopping around it would be perfect, too. Daredevil vs. Black Dynamite. Can you dig it?

did'nt know being blind stopped people from being athletically gifted not to mention he is a martial artist:whatever:

I love the idea of Michael C. Hall still, but he is getting a little older.

What about Chris Pine?

Hall's the same age Downey was when he shot the first Iron Man (41).

And Pine's already Cap Kirk & Jack Ryan (plus I think he's completely wrong for DD).

Chris Pine is too cute and outgoing for Daredevil.

I would like to see Gerald Butler or Matthew Fox as Daredevil.

Gerald...you mean Gerard Butler...?? Oh god, no. MM is *not* a scenery-chewer.

Fox is a good call, as is Pine.

@Baramos: there was a directors cut, and I liked it. Not great but with better fight scenes and a subplot that filled in some holes. A good DVD to own but not worth a theatre ticket.

Michael Clarke Duncan, star of such movies as "The Green Mile" and "The Whole Nine Yards," passed away this morning. He was 54.

According to our sources, his passing came very suddenly. We're told his fiancee, Omarosa Manigault, was with him in his hospital room in Los Angeles and left for a short period of time. When she returned ... he had died.

Our sources say Omarosa's mother was with him when he passed.

Duncan's rep tells TMZ the actor never fully recovered from the myocardial infarction he suffered on July 13.

The rep tells us, "[Omarosa] Manigault is grateful for all of your prayers and asks for privacy at this time. Celebrations of his life, both private and public, will be announced at a later date."

Duncan was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor for his portrayal of John Coffey in "The Green Mile." He worked as a bodyguard for celebrities like Will Smith, Martin Lawrence, Jamie Foxx, LL Cool J, and Notorious B.I.G. before he got his break.

Very sad to hear this....

RIP Michael Clarke Duncan. One of my faves, great even when the movie he was in wasn't :(

Well that was sudden, but hasn't he had heart problems before? Now there's no possibility of him reprising his role as Kingpin (not that I would've wanted that anyway).
