escape for new york is not something i would use for reference a real gritty take that movie is silly and coemdic in tone and satirical not to mention sci fi

I'm not saying to use Escape from NY as a reference. I'm just using that as an example of something that isn't set in the 70s but the future, yet is still as violent as 70s NY. The point is that one doesn't need to be limited by what NYC is like in real life but can have a fictional take on it where things have developed differently so that a 70s-style Hell Kitchen can exist.

After all, has real-life NYC ever experienced an alien invasion from the Chitauri? Did Hydra ever operate in WWII?

I have agree with the the Guard. Seriously we have seen the same thing here on the hype with some fan edits . Using several scenes from different movies to give you an idea of the tone may work for some , but it actually pulls me back BECAUSe of the fact that they use different scenes from movies.
Personally i think it would´ve been more impressive if Carnahan actually made a proof of concept test.
Look at the Tron Legacy proof of concept test. Joseph Kosinski and Diital DOmain worked for almost 6 months to create it and Disney greenlit the movie.
I seriously don´t get why everyone is ****ing their pants
ANd also why is every time a project of Carnahan doesn´t materialise people act like it´s the greatest thing on earth which will never see the light of day.
First Mission Impossible now this.

i like 70's take because hell's kitchen is nowhere near as wretched an dark as it was in the height of the 1970's with crime lords, murder, riots, etc.

NYC as a whole is more cleaned up today thats why i loved the 70's setting it really works for hell's kitchen

doesn't mean it has to be cleaned up in the MCU... Wakanda and Atlantis don't exist in the real world either... so i don't see why you can't fictionalize hell's kitchen to still be run down and scummy.

...the pitch reel was intriguing.. but in any case.. I hope this finally does go back to Marvel.. if they want a TV show, develop that.. My preference is a pre-costume Matt Murdock fighting crime (secretly) as a 1st year law student..

...if Marvel wants to drop hints of DD in his own film, have Matt show up as a lawyer in a future Marvel film, defending the hero..

That would make for a really cool cameo, and is exactly the kind of thing that the old comics did all the time.

To be frank, I don't want a DD movie set in the 70's. Period piece may have worked for First Class, but I don't this is the way to go for Matt Murdock.

its going back to marvel. it's all but official. news sources confirm it and the transition could be complete as early as week's end.

If Marvel have DD, he can show up in a Defenders movie.

It doesn't have to be that specific story with the Mandrill, as DD teamed with the Defenders on more than one occasion.

I hope this becomes officially official, so at least that aspect of "worrying" can be over.

I still want to see a DD cartoon, something cool. I wonder would this clear the way for that to happen.. hmm..

You don't have to worry. Its just all paperwork now. The pitch wouldn't of been released if fox was keeping the rights

Real hell's kitchen doesn't have to be MCU hell's kitchen. Maybe have the kingpin run such a tight ship that hell's kitchen appears safe but is actually much darker.

Lighting, rain, litter and trashbags, unsavory looking people, these things are available in many New York neighborhoods today and lend themselves to a grimey tone. Just amplify these things, use the right filters and appropriate score and you get the right vibe for DD. Know what? Just get Fincher.;)

Or make Kingpin the reason that Hell's Kitchen has fallen apart and become a cesspool again (at least in the MCU).

Alternately, just give DD a new 'hood. Instead of Hell's Kitchen, give him South Bronx.

I think DD should be in the MCU proper, but I agree he doesn't have to appear in the Avengers.DD can show the underbelly of MCU.DD does the work that the Avengers don't notice.Honestly, I'm sure Marvel would be willing to hear Carnahan's pitch.

It would be good if DD does encounter the Avengers in a film. He could say that they see NY as this bright, four-colour world and are almost oblivious to the way he sees it as a dark, gritty and violent city. That would acknowledge both sides of things and how they can co-exist. It's just a matter of each person's perspective. DD sees things that others who have sight don't see.

Plus maybe DD's radar sense makes things look a little darker anyway, like he's always viewing the world through sunglasses.

The sonar effects from the first movie was actually well done.

I still think Michael C. Hall is nearly perfect for the role of Matt Murdock / Daredevil. But at 41, he's probably "too old" for the studios tastes.

that's b/c he IS perfect. RDJ is 47, so that means he was 43 when he played stark in IM1. Hall looks a little younger too. he'd be perfect

Marvel NYC isnt real world NYC, who says Hell's Kitchen it isnt still dark, nasty, gritty and lawless in the MCU?

Crossing my fingers for a "Marvel Knights" movie starring Daredevil, Ghost Rider, Punisher, Blade and Elektra!

Nelson and Murdock need to make an appearance in the next Avengers movie defending the Hulk on trial.

People who live in real world NYC. :yay:
You maybe? People in South Boston weren't outraged at it's depiction in The Town which stated basically that it's the bank robber capital of America, something Ben Affleck admitted he made up for the film.

Did you know New York doesn't get attacked by aliens nearly as much in real life?

Speak for yourself. I had fought a Xenomorph last week on the way back to the subway. :o
