Daredevil = Underrated

In fact I like the "kiss scene" under the rain much more in DD than in Spiderman.

Well yeah. For one thing it had a point, and wasn't just about being wet and sexy.

It was the only way he could see her.

Yes. It had a reason and it turned out to be a moving and truly romantic scene.

I really need to watch this movie again!

I did as well. I thought that was a rather beautiful scene and is as underrated as the movie itself. People parody Spiderman's kiss scene but forget about this. Yet another reason why its true to the comics.

If they made a sequel I think Death Stalker could have been a cool villain.

I just watched the Theatrical Cut of Daredevil for the first time. And it wasnt as bad as some people said it was. I still prefer the DC over it though

It's not a terrible movie (theatrical cut). I'd rate it alongside the 2004 Punisher and 2005 Fantastic Four.
But yes, the DC was a hell of a lot better and in my top ten comic films.

One thing i liked about the DC was the extra courtroom scenes. I thought it brought more to Murdocks character

I have the director's cut on blu ray. I love it. One of the few Ben Affleck movies that I can stand. He is a fantastic Daredevil and didn't deserve any hate that he got for the movie.

Agreed.

While we're on the kiss in the rain scene, it was one of the few scenes I liked better in the theatrical cut opposed to the DC just because for once it wasn't the cliche "leaving to do the hero thing" when she asked him to stay.

Thats one of the changes that made more sense though. It showed how tortured DD really is. He couldnt stay with the person he loved. Someone was being hurt in the name of the Kingpin, he had to be stopped.

What? The Punisher is a fantastic movie and is way out of FF league.

Agreed! I love the DD movie and hope they do a sequel with the original cast, though I doubt it ever happens.

I liked the Punisher and I liked FF. Just an opinion :)

I agree, FF was okay. I definitely didnt hate it and if it came on tv I would watch it, but its not something that I would want to buy.

Normally me either, but for 10 buck on blu-ray i couldnt resist :awesome:

I thought Daredevil was a reasonably solid and faithful interpretation of the character.

I'd put it this way: When I walked out of the Daredevil film, I felt that I had seen the character I knew from the comics . . . I didn't have that same sense after I walked out of X-Men, for example. But I would also say that I thought the X-Men movie was a little bit more entertaining film compared to Daredevil.

So it probably depends on what you're looking for in a film, and I think part of the problem with Daredevil is the character is somewhat understated, so you're not going to get a big, spectacular, blockbuster film based on that character.

. . . if X-Men had really been done right - with a huge budget, faithful design and a great director, that would have just knocked people's socks off. Daredevil probably just doesn't have the potential to make that kind of spectacular film.

I liked all of the casting except Ben A as DD. Took the move from a solid B to a C- for me.

The theatrical wasn't bad at all....but the Director's cut improved it.

The biggest problem with the movie was the fact that Ben Affleck was the star...and by that I mean....everyone was ready to hate it from the minute he was mentioned as the lead. He was good in the role, did a damn fine job....but everyone was treating him as a joke at that time because of the BENNIFFER crap the media was overloading the world with ( and he still hasn't been able to completely shake it). It's a case of hating Ben and not actually watching his performance.

I feel the exact same way. Affleck did well, but for whatever reason people hated him because he was having sex with J-Lo once. The theatrical cut had some flaws, but it's a nice watch at times. I really hate that I never got my copy back of the director's cut from a friend who I let borrow it.

I've always liked this movie. I think it gets far more criticism than it should.

It should be soooooo much better. Daredevil should be a really kickass movie and I can't say that was the case. I own both versions but he needs to get a better treatment.

This is a movie that I like much better than most people. Even now this is one of my favourite comic book movies. I do think it would have been more warmly received without the hype backlash against Ben Affleck, but the biggest mistake was not releasing the director's cut to theatres (possibly with a couple of minor edits to get it down to a PG-13 rating, the director's cut is not a hard R). It is clearly the better and more complete film.

My feeling exactly... i've never heard a good arguement for why he sucked in the role, just a load of unintelligent bashing.

BTW, i haven't even seen the DC... from the general consensus in here i'm feeling i am majorly missing out, and will be watching it ASAP :)

THIS right here

DD was decent at best but it deserves so much better DD has the potential to be as good as batman begins

and deserves a director comparable to Nolan

I thought the DC was a decent flick but it had some really corny/awkward moments to me:

1. Playground Fight
2. Evanescence music
3. Whenever Affleck talked in his costume it just didn't look or sound right.

Similarly, MSJ's next Marvel flick Ghost Rider retained lots of that cheesiness/awkwardness (Fat Emo Girl, Mendez's role, Cage's Jelly Beans and Karate Monkeys, etc..)
