I predict it'll be about Jennifer Lawrence, Professor X and Magneto pondering whether or not and how to kill Jean Grey/Dark Phoenix, with a big emphasis on Jennifer Lawrence. Emma Frost is behind it all. Phoenix will burn to ashes and be reborn either way. No Jackman cameo shoehorning, no original cast boost, cliché and inappropriate lines, some characters will be severely underdeveloped despite having been in several installments now (including Nightcrawler, Psylocke, Cyclops, Quicksilver, Moira McTaggert, Storm, maybe even JEan)... I'm voting 50% tops from RT.

Don't mean to repeat myself but Kinberg will still be around after even if Dark Phoenix underperforms.
See X3. See F4.

If Fox knows it needs to update the cast every once in a while, then Fox probably knows it needs to update the writers as well. Sometimes I really think Fox hates the X-Men (and all the heterogeneous populations they represent) -- and no, I don't know what it means to be a trans, @Lip, but I do know what it means to be the minority!!! ;)

After Apocalypse and Golden Circle got a rotten rating, I would be surprised if this even hit 50%!

I predict we'll all be pleasantly surprised.

...Matthew Vaughn who directed First Class and has nothing to do with Dark Phoenix? Are we going to drag Rattner into the conversation as well?

it has become a lets bash fox movement especilly since dark phoenix is very secretive production.

:loco:

If you didn't get mY point, then let me explain it to you, if Singer and Vaughn got a film that got a rotten rating, what else is there for this film which is directed by Simon Kinberg? Think dude. That's why i said I would be surprised if this gets a higher rt rating than the last film of the two previous X-Men directors.

It's ridiculous. Dark Phoenix is a worrisome production because of Kinberg, not because of the studio.
The studio gave carte blanche of their main comic book franchise to him, a first time director - producing writing and directing. Its not like he took the production by himself. Its not unfair to drag them for that decision.

I just don't think Kinberg has the talents and a solid track record to deliver a solid film. Like if Singer and Vaughn who both delivered a great X film in the past, can have a film that was torn apart by critics after directing a great X film - what about Kinberg?

seriously I feel that they could pull us a harry potter and make 3 more X-man movies.
The new Jean Grey and Cyplos are better and with Roque, Iceman, Kitty and others with good villians like mister sinister we could get 3 more movies.

Maybe they could make Logan get "younger" through powers of a other mutant or a mutant medicine if the actor doesnt want to play anymore?

make Jean survive this time and somehow involve the plot of the last wolverine? maybe time travel and X-23?
Maybe come back of the sentinel robots but through trening? or maybe amutant or someone could hack them and a bigger beattle with them?

If I think about all the past animated series of X-man that I watched as a kid there are many things I would like to see done. Maybe more movies?

I doubt it. I doubt Dark Phoenix would do well in the first place and with the Fox/Disney merger approval possibly being done neXt year, this franchise is ending very soon.

My score: 7/10
RT score: 86%

I feel a "DOFP" vibe in that movie
but I'm waiting for a trailer to be more sure of that

The infos released on EW revolve mostly around the FC trio indeed, plus Jean and Chastain. We do know that both Raven and Charles will butt heads over how to handle the X-Men. And we also know that Jean will seek refuge under Erik's home. So my prediction are:

1) Both the X-Men and Jean Grey will serve as source of conflicts between Raven & Charles, Charles and Erik, respectively.

2) The "major twist" that will change the course of the franchise is the Fox-Disney deal finalized Raven's death. But I'm predicting her death will be an event that will leave the fans feeling more relief rather than having any emotional effect expected.

3) Charles and Raven will be at the same side when it comes to Jean, but opposing Eric's.

4) The movie will be more "Charles-driven", dealing with the pressure of the X-Men being national heroes, appearing in Times Magazine, his growing ego, Raven's death, Chastain's character who'll probably have a connection to him, Jean becoming Phoenix and the disagreements with Eric.

5) The movie will be similar to DoFP storywise as I predict that Xavier's role and journey will be about saving the soul of his daughter figure, Jean Grey, who's going to a dark path, similar to his "sister figure" Raven in DoFP.

ugh, just the thought of the movie you just described puts my hype on -50%.

Until i see even just a blurb on it or a preview, there's no way for me to gauge how i will rate it..

I think that's a fair assessment based on what we know of this franchise's priorities and what was in the EW article.

Raven's death will allow Cyclops to become leader because of course he couldn't possibly earn that position on his own, it needs her to be out of the picture.

But I'm not sure Mystique's death is the major twist. That seems too obvious.

They could be hyping the twist to be more than it really is, but major twist sounds like something with far more impact.

I do think that it's very possible someone we know will turn out to be a Skrull impersonator, if indeed the Skrulls are in this thing, but not sure who.

From our perspective it could be obvious, but for them is different. From their perspective she is the star and of the main characters of the franchise. They've built a whole trilogy with Raven as a major player. They'll want her death to have major emotional impact in the characters, especially Eric, Charles and Hank, but also for the X-Men for whom she served as a leader and a role model. Add to that the fact that it'll probably be Jean killing her. Also, wanting or not, they're killing the character played by JLaw. Entertainment magazines will most definitely see that as a big thing.

Despite how we feel towards Raven, I can totally see her death being what they're selling as a game changing twist.

Imagine that they made the Skrulls blue in this universe and they all look like Raven, blue and scaled.. ughhhh Raven was a Skrull all along lmaoo
