Dark Souls II

Not quite sure if I like the idea of no real story and the dying and restarting from scratch type thing that I've read. Seems like a complex game idk haha.

It's not really "from scratch." When you die, the souls you've collected are dropped where you die. If you die on the way back to your souls, you lose them and your new souls are dropped. Your max health also ticks down a bit (up to 50%) each time you subsequently die, there is a ring that brings the minimum up to 75% which is very useful.

Otherwise you keep all your stuff, all your weapons/armor go back to full durability, and you fall back to the last bonfire/checkpoint.

Hm okay, it does seen like a very interesting and challenging game. I have a few games I want to try out first but I'll get around to this one. Maybe watch some gameplay/walk through videos to get a hang for what to expect.

Darn Ruin Sentinels! Finally got frustrated with these three and gave up yesterday after like the 7th try. I will kill them though.

I gave up trying to be the ultimate badass and accepted that co-op is an integral part of the Dark Souls experience. I would try a boss a few times and if I felt like I wasn't getting anywhere (or I was getting somewhere but just wanted to move on) I'd summon a nice raiding party. Made the game much more manageable and enjoyable, especially when a boss isn't 1v1.

I've also helped other people out a lot, ranked the Sunlight covenant to 3 by dropping my summon sign and helping people out.

You can totally solo Dark Souls 2, but I enjoy the co-op aspect of the game.

LOL, I will eventually break down and summon some help. I just need to feel the accomplishment of doing it on my own, if I can. The game is hard but if you can figure out their patterns and weaknesses it can be a cakewalk. Just takes awhile sometimes to figure those things out.

I haven't summoned yet. I don't have anything against it, but I personally try not to abuse it and only do it sparingly. Anytime I've had to summon in the previous games, I always feel like I cheated somehow.

Just defeated the Lost Sinner in a group of three, i didn't even know we'd stumble upon on such a big boss fight, but i'm sure glad i had 2 other badasses with me lol.

I like how you can just travel around this world, i really have no clue almost where to go.

Just beat the Forest Giant. Boss 1 down, many more to go.

Got to level 90 and beat The Lost Sinner. I actually found him easier then the Sentinels.

I made it to the Iron Keep!

PS. Did you defeat the Gargoyles before going againts the Lost Sinner? I went with a group of 3 againts the Lost Sinner and was wondering why i couldn't hold my lock on the target lol.

No I'm in the area of the Gargoyles now.

Ya with the Lost Sinner he will shake you off auto lock. So I would just wait until he got close lock on and put my tower shield up. But sometimes he would try to shake the auto lock before he did that jump behind you and then would attack.

The sentinels were a pain for me for some odd reason. I really had to think about it. I jumped down and would kill the first one with no shield just a double handed mace. Then when the other jumped up to the upper platform I would put my shield up and try to take as much off as I could on him before the other one jumped up. Then I would jump down and just stay locked on the one that I had already hurt a lot and just tried to concentrate on one until I got him. Took me a while but that one was harder to me then the Lost Sinner. I have not summoned. I just never really do it.

But I went down to the well in Majula. And went and fought the Royal Rat group or whatever. Then I started to explore The Gutter. Dangerous place, I kept falling left and right. Torch required for that area. Next weekend I may go for the Gargoyles. I may just during the week keep looking at the Gutters.

Kadokawa Shoten (Japanese media company) has purchased From Software.

Just finished the game. \o/

Still got the Ancient Dragon and King Vendrick to defeat!

I'm almost there got done with the undead crypt.

I actually traded in my copy while I could still get some value out of it. I figure it will eventually be ported to PS4 and be a much better experience, and if not, I'll get the Steam version during a sale.

Has there actually been a game that has gone cross gen that wasn't announced as such? Injustice, I guess?

Wouldn't this apply to all the ports of last years games we are getting? TR, TLoU and I'm sure those won't be the last. There is plenty more examples with digital games as well like Flower, Trine 2 among others

For people that have got to Drangelic castle. Did you get all 4 of the older souls before going forward? I have 3 and over a million soul memory so the doors are open, went to the first bonfire but am wondering if I should get the last soul before proceeding.

Dark Souls III? Demon's Souls II? Spiritual successor?

A spiritual successor to a spiritual successor? Heresy.

If it's neither Dark Souls nor Demon's Souls, it would be a spiritual successor to a spiritual successor to a spiritual successor. (Assuming it's not a new King's Field either.)

Oh yeah, I forgot Souls was a spiritual successor to King's Field, too. Goddamn.
