Marx getting ready to level the **** out of that wall shelf.

Today is Friday so you know what that means for a lot of us, time to work around the house. Be it your wife, mom or hot neighbor trying to sex you up women everywhere are preparing "to do lists" because that's what they do, make lists. Lists of things to do, lists of why they'll divorce you, list of things they won't allow you to do in bed etc.

Back on topic. In my case, I live with my mom and two sisters so that makes me the "man of the house" by default. This means everytime my mom gets an idea for a project it means I'm doing something.

"You know what would be great?"

"No mom what?"

"Painting the bathroom."

"Yeah that would be neat."

"I'm glad you agree, here's this bucket of paint and brush, get to it."

"What the ****?"

That's how things go in my house. So this thread is dedicated to the discussion of your weekend projects. Painting the house, refinishing that old wood chest of yours, room makeovers, new design for the living room. Time to head over to the hardware store.

I'm an American. I pay people to do that kind of **** for me.

I had to paint the basement walls last weekend. The crawl space was a ***** made my back sore the next day.

I am obsessed with my lawn, flower bed, and compost pile. Obsessed I say.

A month ago I painted the front door TARDIS blue. It looks lovely but frick. Even coats of a dark rich color are a ***** when it comes to coverage.

I also started a garden and compost pile, but really the garden never happened.. so I just have a compost pile. If I throw a banana peel in the trash I feel like I'm wasting it. :csad:

So wait, some of you people would rather pay someone to do simple things like paint a wall instead of doing it yourselves?

We got a new house, but we couldn't afford to have the house repainted, and put every fixture we wanted in, so we've been slowly doing that.

I've painted 2 rooms so far. And I've installed two light fixtures and installed 2 fans. I painted and sealed around my fireplace. Hung the big screen.

Here's some stuff that I've done.

:( Marx looks too serious in that pic. It's only wall leveling, not Minecraft, or anything.

I feel the same way. I was out at my cousin's the other day and he was going to throw away this giant rotten squash he had, so I just took it and put it in the bed of my truck for later. It's now providing the necessary carbon for my compost pile. I am finding it hard though to provide enough brown, carbon rich material to offset all of the green nitrogen-filled grass clippings.

Speaking of grass clippings, I've gone very green with my mower and opted for a reel mower rather than an electric or gas one. It's a bit harder to push, but with my small lawn it doesn't take too long at all to cut it and it would be so wastful to use any other kind. Plus, it's very hipster.

It's like, the mower is wearing skinny jeans.

I'll be honest, electrical worries me. I put in a chandelier in the dining room area and there's a weird buzzing noise every time I turn it on. I don't know if I got the wires crossed or the connection is loose. Electrical just scares me sometimes.

It use to be for me but it's fairly simple. Red to red, black to black, ground to ground or on to metal. Twist.

When I was putting the ceiling fans in, they were a pain with like 13 wires to cross.

Yeah that works but when you have some random cuban who installed god knows what in there before you moved in, it becomes harder. There were like 8 wires, all different colors. I have no idea what the guy did.

Also to answer your question. I think I'm limited. There are a few things I will leave to the professionals. I need a backsplash in my kitchen done. And I want my first floor painted with 2 different colors, I think I will have done professionally.

Like stripes or just two different areas with different colors?

Darth is going to be a great husband one day. Get him before it's too late, ladies!

12 x 14 rooms I can do. I really don't want to try and do my ENTIRE first floor. Plus the rooms I did paint, it's not perfect.

Indeed. On top of getting a handy man you get someone with a lifetime of training in shopping at women's stores for hours on end with the patience of a Buddhist monk.
