Darthphere Presents: Geeks with Hammers, the Home and Garden thread.

I had a similar situation in my room but with my comp. I had to run the ethernet cable and phone line along the whole wall of my room to the opposite side.

One day you need to just say **** it and get to working on the room. It'll be worth it. The place you sleep needs to be a place of perfection in my eyes.

My old set up was horrible, my bed was in an odd place compared to my TV, hard to watch in a regular nap position, and everything was just cramped up. I just snapped and went to work on it one day. Now I got it set up so that when I swivel 90° in my chair I go from looking at the computer to the TV, another 90° and I'm looking at my futon, another 90° and I'm looking at my dresser and closet. Tons of open space in the central area of the room.

i've been working on cleaning up and organizing my living space

i need to go ham on my laundry and linens soon

Best guest bathroom ever?

Those toilets that hang off the wall freak me out.

Today I was working on putting cement tiles for my outdoor patio.

Pain. in. the. ass.

i'm thinking about doing some interior painting, maybe some gardening. i really wanna rip out all the junk in the flower beds and build anew

So, I'm old school and said **** a TV, I'mna go with a projector. Started to hang the ceiling mount and had my studfinder trying to find a stud (*swoon*) and I think I found one. So, I drill a hole in the location on the ceiling... and I get nothing... no stud. I drill somewhere near there... no stud. I grab the damn studfinder and it's telling me that there's a stud there. What a damned liar!

I climb into the attic to try and physically locate the stud... I can't access the area right over the room!! It's blocked off by a wall! DAMNIT!!

I go back downstairs and start pounding on the ceiling listening for hollow/non-hollow areas and start drilling holes like crazy.

Now I have a holey ceiling.

ripped up the linoleum in the foyer yesterday and all the excess glue. that was a pain. laying some new down this weekend i hope

i just build a multimedia cabinet all by myself

/nostalgia

on-topic-ish. i hope to do some home renovations of some sort this summer. i've ripped up the carpet on the stairs going to the second floor and would like to paint them. i'll probably need to sand them and stuff first so i will look into that

i light-washed the first half of the stairs and have gone back and started scrubbing the top 3. i've gone through one magic eraser already lol

a while back i pulled up the carpet on the stairs because it was old and i thought that hardwood would look better. man, was i wrong. whoever laid the carpet down did a half-ass job at best. the stairs are hideous underneath, paint flecks, smears etc from when they painted the ceiling and walls no doubt, and leftover residue from the carpeting etc. i've put up with it a while, but i'm tired of looking at how ugly the stairs look lol
no one ever goes upstairs except me so i've let it slide, but for way too long

i'm really thinking about sanding them down, repainting them and finishing them or whatever it's called. i don't know much about that sort of thing, so i need to do some research.
