According to Bloody Disgusting, it's on...

"Bloody Disgusting has exclusively learned that MTV is in talks for the rights to turn George A. Romero's classic "Dawn of the Dead" into a TV series! Zack Snyder, who directed the 2004 remake, will not be involved at this time. For those of you wondering about what kind of zombies will be used, talk indicates a wide variety (running and slow). It will be more of a spin-off than original production. Obviously, when a screenwriter is attached, there might be some changes. We'll let you know when the dotted line is signed."

Kind of apprehensive about MTV helming a zombie series though...

**** MTV, AMC is already giving us a zombie series and its destined to be at least 100x better. :o

No need to read after that. :down

sweet hopefully they can kill all those ids from Jersey Shore. Then we can have orange tanned, spikey haired, fist pumping zomibe. Which makes killing them all the more fun.

I just hope MTV doesn't rush this out into production so that it premieres before The Wallking Dead, only for it to be utterly crap and kill off any interest in The Walking Dead, screwing it before we get so much as a pilot.

My fears exactly!

Woohoo! More Zombie stuff! Let me guess they run, & eat flesh. While mumbling or occasionally screeshing?:whatever:

To be fair just because they're saying that MTV is in talks to develop the series, doesn't mean that it would air on MTV. MTV Networks also includes the Nickelodeon channels, VH1 channels, Comedy Central, Spike, CMT channels, TV Land, and other smaller channels. And Viacom also owns BET (which was separated from MTV Networks for some reason).

Dawn of the Dead seems out of place for a channel like MTV which is devoted to music (AMTV, Making the Video, Making the Band) and reality (Cribs, The Real World, The Hills, Room Raiders) shows. Scripted television, especially one like Dawn of the Dead does not fit MTV's programming. And you also should take into account that MTV also makes Spongebob Squarepants, iCarly, the Daily Show, etc.

Spike would be a good fit for Dawn of the Dead, the zombie genres' demographic is primarily a male one (which is Spike's specialty with programming fights from UFC and TNA, MANswers, Afro Samurai, Spike Video Game Awards, shows about vehichles, etc.).

That's right. I had forgotten how many pies MTV has their fingers in (so to speak:woot: )...and yes; i agree Spike could be an interesting channel to helm a zombie series...

But at the same time, I can imagine the inherent differences between a zombie TV show tailored to the Spike TV demographic, and a zombie TV show tailored to the AMC demographic.

Yeah if done right the television series could be successful. Also Spike network would be perfect for a show like this since they have the ''network for men'' slogan as you said.

Everything is better with zombies!

Hopefully between this and Walking Dead there's at least one good zombie show on TV. Which one is better will be interesting to see, but since there's two we have double the chance of a success (either that, or some really unfortunate brand confusion). We shall see which undead apocalypse reigns supreme in due time, I'm sure. I'm just surprised no-one has already done a zombie show.

MTV is going ahead with a Teen Wolf show, so they could be airing it but Teen Wolf fits MTV and Dawn of the Dead fits Spike.

But I'd put money on the AMC series lasting longer and doing whatever they want while MTV will bury Dawn of the Dead with notes.

This will be the Flashforward to Walking Dead's Lost... **** it, **** it with razors...

So is Dawn of the Dead still going to be made into a tv series?

...But MTV does scripted shows now....they have Teen Wolf which is actually a hit for them and the GREAT Awkard.

I'm not sure how I feel about this. Walking Dead is already my appointment Zombie show. Also MTV is a little wishy-washy with its programming.

Long as they don't spend a whole season on characters aimlessly wandering around a farm....KA-POW!

Had to say it.
