Dawn of the Planet of the Apes

I'd honestly buy that the "fake" one was a mockup for the new posters.

That said the new posters look a lot better than that and the original poster for 2011 film on which it was based. the 2011 poster had that weird texturing thing that WB also uses quite often for closeup posters. The new ones look great.

Yeah, sounds about right.

Is Maurice the Orangutan going to be in the new film? He was one of my favorite elements of the first film, some of the best cgi I've ever seen and I liked his interactions with Caesar.

No idea, but it would make sense to have him there. Not as a soldier, of course. He's the adviser.

That Caesar one looks very well done. The nose is what strikes me as putting it in photorealism zone.

Awesome posters and great news about the trailer!!
I hope we get to see the main humans (esp Gary Oldman) too in the teaser and it's not going to be only a monkey staring contest :woot:

That would be great, I loved him!

The orangutans should be pragmatic while all the other apes are obsessed with conflict.

Gorillas are the arm of the law.

Humans are just dumb savages that forget their place.

Sometimes that happens when the concept art/mockup shows leaks online. I remember there was a promotional poster for Frozen that got leaked out earlier this year. Disney said it was a fake.

And it sure wasn't, because the 'mockup' had the same exact character designs from the film.

Yeah.

BTW, I saw the posters again on my Mac instead of my iPhone. OMG, Ceaser and his crew looks almost photo-real. It's in the eyes and the noses.

I also hope maurive returns! He was great!

Koba looks mean as hell.

Awesome to see Koba as well as Caesar on the posters, always thought Koba would have a big role to play in a sequel. As other have said hope Maurice returns too, as Caesar's close friend.

Maurice definitely needs to return in a bigger role

The apes look kind of pissed off in those posters, don't they? :wow:

Beautiful posters. Reminds me of one my favorite posters

Something that was pointed out to me recently was that "Koba" was a nickname used by Josef Stalin as a young man.

Interesting. That just added a layer to this series for me.

There will probably be some "Animal Farm" type dynamics at play in this film.

Which is cool because Serkis is also involved in a new Animal Farm adaptation.

Everything is connected. :woot:

One thing I'm worried about is if this new director can pull off the ape interaction as well as the Rise director.

but after these posters...I'm less worried. :cwink:

Reeves' past films and their commentaries give me a good feeling about the amount of thought and care he puts into everything but especially into the relationship between characters, even in Cloverfield when most people wouldn't have bothered. At first I was somewhat taken aback by how much focus he had on those aspect of Cloverfield the first time I listened to the commentary, and I think he was largely successful in his aims. Let Me In was much the same situation. He takes great care in how he portrays the story and the relationships but then is also very adept with the technical side of things. The "one take" car-wreck shot in that film is great.

Reeves is pretty darn good of a director. I still think he'l end up directing Star Trek or even Star Wars one of these days.

Well I hope the trailer at least shows something with Cornelia, since we did not get a poster of her.
