Dawn of the Planet of the Apes

With each new trailers I'm feeling 2014 is going to be the sleeper hit of all years. Then again, it often feels that way around this time.

Still, it might be warranted this time due to many people looking past it at 2015.

So is this "technically" before Burton's 2001 film?

Rise of the Planet of the Apes (2011)
Dawn of the Planet of the Apes (2014)
Planet of the Apes (2001)

I mean, that technically works as a trilogy, right?

Depends on how you look at it.

However, certain elements of 'Rise of the Apes', like the launch of the shuttle from the Charlton Heston Original, alludes to this film being a prequel to the original.

Yeah, 2014 seems like the "tame" year, with not-so-big movies getting a chance to shine. Like it's the calm before the storm, AKA, 2015.

Godzilla
RoboCop
Dawn of the Planet of the Apes
Interstellar
Transcendence
Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit
300: Rise of an Empire
Need for Speed
Edge of Tomorrow
Jupiter Ascending

I'm really happy that all these movies get a whole year to themselves, because 2015 would've slaughtered them.

Looks great. Loved the Rise, and of course the originals.

And yes this is a more so prequel to the originals, unless they end it with making a new Planet of the Apes, it has nothing to do with the Burton one. The Burton one had it's own/different explanation for how all that went down.

Some shots reminded me of The Last of Us.

Not too shabby, Reeves knows how to frame shots for dramatic effect so it works for me. Caesar and the rest look good, but I need to see them in bright daytime lighting to really get the full effect.

Not quite what I meant. I was talking about. Between the marvel films, the bay films, the Xmen film and these late season trailers, I see 2014 being as "big" any year prior. Only, no one saw it coming due to all the 2015 hype.
All 2014 needs to do is actually deliver(unlike previous years) and could go down at the biggest year yet.

I see lots of potential in so many of the films.

Hey, Godzilla and Interstellar are huge cinematic events for me because Nolan is my favorite director and Godzilla was a massive part of my childhood! :csad:

:o

So hyped, the apes + the actors they've snatch for this. This is going to be good.

Every year these days seems to have it's fair share of genre movies I'm excited for. Even already, 2016 is shaping up to be damn sweet too: Warcraft, Marvel Studios, Star Wars spin-off, Avatar 2, X-Men: Apocalypse, The Amazing Spider-Man 3 etc.

No, I totally agree with everything said here.

But, let's face it, 2015 might actually be the biggest movie year of all-time. All-Damn-Time.

Batman vs. Superman (vs. Wonder Woman)
Star Wars: Episode VII
Avengers: Age of Ultron
Jurassic World
007 James Bond 24
Mission: Impossible 5
Terminator: Genesis
Fantastic Four

I'm actually in awe of 2015.

It's cool but it is a little sad that everything is pretty much based on an established franchise. Is there even one new property that year that people are looking forward to?

That's a good point. Maybe this will be the norm, and we should just expect HUGE franchise films every year. Maybe 2015 will set off a ****-storm of craziness.

I mean, really, what's 2017 going to be like?

Avengers 3
Justice League
Star Wars: Episode VIII

It'll be the same craziness all over again, lol.

Another potential economic crisis?

A lot of people seem to be pretty excited for Interstellar.

Great teaser. Loved the atmosphere of it.

Also, for those discussing it, these new Apes films have nothing to do with Burton's remake.

This teaser could have come out before Rise, probably wouldn't be, being received as well. There's alot to be said for momentum.

I have to say, the CGI for Rise and Dawn might be the best in years. Those posters are eerie.
