I'm betting the ending will have mankind actually being destroyed this time rather than just left with a warning.

that would be awesome

id like to see a disaster movie where the earth actually gets completely ****ed up lol

:applaud

Maybe they'll just kill off 99.9% per cent of human kind as a warning.

Eh, his wooden and detached performance would actually help him in this situation.

Just saw a tv spot for it with a bunch of Keanu in it.

I called it.

Keanu's uncanny ability to act like a block of wood HELPS in him playing an alien in a human body.

Keanu is perfect to play the alien. He always had that otherworldness about him, since he was a teenager.

^Thats because Keanu Reeves always looks stoned.

Keanu was actually a TERRIBLE choice to play Klatuu. Klatuu looks intelligent, wise, and friendly...nothing like Keanu...I mean Keanu can be smart, wise, and friendly but I don't get that vibe from him.
Also his acting chops are very wooden and Klatuu (despite being an alien) was actually even more human than a lot of the humans in the films

Michael Rennie was wooden as HELL as Klaatu. The fact that the character had some type of a warm reaction to humans didn't make him human at all. He was different and he had no expressions. Nothing, nada.

I even understand some of the criticism Keanu receives for his acting style, not everyone's cup of tea, but this time it is unfair to criticize him because of the that same characteristic that makes him perfect for the role of Klaatu.

I heard the new XMen: Wolverine teaser is gonna be apart of this.

I saw the trailer awhile back and burst out laughing every time Keanu Reeves was on screen.

ok there were a few flashes of Gort in a new tv spot, he looked all t-1000ish, like moving liquid metal. Like the silver surfer with less detail and visor for eyes

as always FOX. they know that there are a lot x-men fans from the 3 movies. so thy wont realese the trailer on the internet because they want ot make some money with the trailer. we all know that the internet is a very big medium. it makes sense to promote the movie on hte internet. but not when it comes to FOX

The only aspect of Fox Sports' NFL coverage more annoying than Terry Bradshaw is Cleatus, the animated robot designed to keep viewers entertained while the network rattles off its list of sponsors each Sunday. Perhaps sensing football fans' contempt for the character, Fox has unveiled a new promotional clip for Keanu Reeves' upcoming remake of The Day the Earth Stood Still, in which the alien robot Gort hands Cleatus a thorough beatdown on the gridiron.

Klatuu was wise (because of what he knew), but he never seemed terribly human or overtly friendly. His ACTIONS and EMOTIONS were, but his appearance wasn't particularly reassuring, and his speech and mannerisms were relatively wooden, even coldly logical at times.

Keanu is an underrated actor imo, I really liked him in the first matrix and the gift. Looking forward to this movie.

Never saw the first one but am really interested in this, Connolly is a great acctress, and Keanu can be great given the right role. Interesting story as well, count me in.

Thanks to Superman, now i'll always look at Gort and think how Amazon could have been.

Why, WB, WHY?

I can understand the hate for Cleatus, but why must they rip on Terry Bradshaw? I know he's a bit of a goofball, but the man has FOUR Super Bowl rings for f**k sake! He can do whatever the hell he wants.

Anyway, this movie looks really cool, but I'm not sold on Gort yet. He had that obvious CGI look about him in the previews I saw... but maybe it'll come off better onscreen. I hope so, because everything else I saw looked amazing.

This movie = bomb as does most product from Fox these days.

Look at Australia.

What's hilarious is that the TV spots marketing it as ID4, like "The Earth stands up to evil alien invaders!"

Lol, funny Fox.

Fox or not, it is a SHAME when a good movie by a really talented director like Baz Luhrmann bombs and a crap christmas movie starred by Vince Vaugh actually opens in first place.

At least Fox let Baz do the movie he wanted to do, with a long running time and not jumping on the MTV style people like so much these days. Kudos to them. And I am betting TDTESS will surprise a lot of people.
