Hey guys, someone on another X-men board said that Louise simonson said in the Total film article that she think apocalypse will be bad.

Anyone have a scan or link to that part of the article?

Thanks

Yeah I don't get that, especially when Singer calls Apocalypse another "inbetweenquel". In between what exactly?

Think he just means it takes place inbetween all the movies because the timeline order. It's easier to look at as a follow up and sequel instead of reading into it too much imo. DOFP and Apocalypse are both FC follow ups, and continuing the franchise moving forward at this point. EVen if they go back to the OT later it will be because of the changes made in these films.

Just reminder angel can't be In Apocalypse Inless there Is sequenze set In more present.Time travel changes events It doesn't change when characters
were born. You have opotion of bringing In younger Nightcrawler.

Time-travel can do whatever it wants as long as it makes sense within the context of the rules they've setup.

If Singer wants to reintroduce characters again he's going to do it - especially one that had such a minimal role as Angel.

I think you may be right. Just looking at Singer's quote:

"I don't want to get too specific, but we'll introduce familiar characters in a younger time. That'll be fun to show the audience. I call these movies in-between-quels. It's a mindf*** sometimes in terms of where things fall in the timeline!"

It does seem to suggest he's thinking mainly in terms of where it just falls in the timeline.

Don't forget Blob! too!
If Stryker doesn't freeze his son, we could see teenage Mastermind.
Quicksilver, Scarlet, Toad, Mastermind, just BOEM in 80!
But would love to see Durand back as Blob too.

Sequel to DOFP, prequel to next movie.

That was a very good article; I must pick up that magazine when I go shopping tomorrow.

It confirms our suspicions of an 80s setting for the next movie, as well as younger versions of familiar faces.

I'm guessing Jean, Scott, Storm, Beast, Gambit are strong possibilities. Wonder what happens to Havok and Quicksilver in DoFP? And could Emma Frost come back in another film? Will they bring back Banshee or are we done with him? Will we ever see Polaris? Dazzler?

I don't think they'll mess with continuity by bringing in a new Angel back in the 80s.

If we're going to see Archangel as an Apocalypse minion, he will have to come from the future. How cool would it be to see Ben Foster back in the role to create some sense of continuity and connectivity.

Banshee and Havok would have to be played by older actors (40yo) if movie is in 1986-1987.

Well for QS hopefully he gets a haircut in the 80's! and have him look more I don't care what you think kind of look for him!

they won't recast they will likely keep the same actors continuity sake, to keep the 3 films as a package

they will just make them look older, like for example Caleb Landry make him bulk up so he doesn't seem like a kid anymore and cut his hair to a more mature look, if they wanted they could make him grow some facial hair, there are loads of things you could do, But i am pretty sure they won't recast

Hopefully he gets a more aerodynamic costume and a good haircut!

Oh there's absolutely no doubt that Quicksilver's inclusion was deliberate because of Marvel announcing him and Scarlet Witch as being in AoU...

There's no doubt in my mind that only those with no real understanding of the process and duration of hiring an actor think that.

How are you shaming X-men for supposedly doing one thing but applauding Avengers for doing the exact same thing?

What a weird post.

  another case of "it's okay when Marvel does it, bot not anyone else"

I have no doubt AoU's Quicksilver will be better than DoFP's, his look is awful and Aaron Johnson is more fit and better looking than Evan Peters, plus he'll be a featured character in AoU unlike DoFP.

I think both will be good. Look is subjective and even though Nightcrawler wasn't a featured character he was still more interesting that leads in loads of CBMs

i wonder if FOX is stupid enough to have a small scale third act action finale. after Avengers,MOS,TDKR.

All of the X-Men movies have had action set-pieces in the third act. As long as it's good the scale matters for nought. Those examples you gave had no real emotional backing to them unlike First Class and the end of X2

they are trying to build up the next movie as something huge so that they trick us into watching this movie many times. it will not work. if its a distater it will underperform based on the budget.

Yuh-huh :whatever:

As for what First class actors they could bring back, i'd guess Emma frost, banshee, havok and moira would be on the possibility list, Probably not all of them but i can see 1 or 2 of them being written into it

Action of X1, X2, X3 was in 3 years, 2005-2007.
Now we are talking about 25 years, 1962-1987.
Hoult, Lawrence are in makeup. Fassbender already looks for 50 yo. McAvoy have to be bald and needs makeup.
Landry and Till are too thin, both aren't at 4 above level actors. Too much of makeup, just choose older actors.
Damian Lewis or Zack Ward for 40+yo Banshee.

That's why you make them bulk up, there Are tricks, give him facial hair like what they are doing with mcavoy, give him a more mature look, its manageable, its not the first time they have aged a young actor 2 decades

It's the tricks, to make someone young have them be skinny and kid like hair, for mature adults it's usually facial hair, bulk them up and give them mature less messy hair

Also from how it sounds mcavoy [BLACKOUT]may not be bald in apocalypse till much later on[/BLACKOUT] if the way he talks about it is anything to go by

If Havok and Banshee return, the right hair, clothes, and make up can make Lucas Till and Caleb Landry Jones look older.

If Apocalypse is going to take place in the 80s, I demand to see a mutant in parachute pants. :oldrazz:

During those hippie years Alex's parents could decide for another baby, and Scott was born in 1970 (he's about 17 in 1987).

Interesting...
Is Kitty’s arc very different from the comic-book version [in the comic, she’s the one who travels back rather than Wolverine]. Well, yes and no. She has the power to ‘push’ consciousness and move someone. At the beginning of the film, she’s using it as an escape mechanism. She uses it to warn their group, the refugees, that they’re under attack. But then the challenge becomes: can they go deeper into the past?

Yeah, young Scott, Jean, and Storm immediately came to mind when Singer said that. Since it's the 80's, Dazzler and Longshot are on the table as well.

I'd love for it to be based on the 12 story line, imagine young storm, cyclopes, jean battling their older selfs'.
