Days of Future Past Days of Future Past SPOILERS! (You have been warned!) - Part 2

What would be really cool is if the events of the 70's caused some slight changes. Here me out.. Since Trask didn't get assassinated, what if he held some type of fundraiser or other gathering to show some tech and Worthington II met his wife sooner? Or had a few more drinks than he should've and had his son sooner than in the OT? Then you'd have an older Worthington III who could be 16 by 1989.

Or Kitty's parents could have met being trapped or hiding somewhere because of a scene in DOFP, causing them to meet sooner and having a child together sooner.

Or even now, with Trask being alive he here's information about a girl who kisses her boyfriend and puts him into a coma. Mystique happens to break in and see his files and takes interest in her and goes after her. You'd have the Rogue and Mystique mother/daughter dynamic. Just cause Rogue is seen at the end with everyone in DOFP doesn't tell the story of how she got there. Now instead of the Wolverine and Rogue dynamic, we can get Wolverine/Kitty or Wolverine/Jubilee.

Days of future past is the greatest thing to happen for this franchise!

I lost my mom and dad at a young age. I often imagine where or who I'd be if I had them still. I could be in a different state, different job, kids and etc. It's amazing what difference one life can make. So you take Trask and use him like we would for JFK/MLKjr/Hitler/Bin Laden in the movies. How different would we be if those people never died. How different will the X-MEN future be now that Trask lives.

That's why is started the whole Wolverine as a horsemen deal. It could very well happen now

Exactly (but there are images from Origins in DoFP). So, this is my theory :

In Timeline Trilogy (X-Men Trilogy + Wolverine movies), Sentinels are not deployed since 1973, the mutants are not hunted for decades, William Stryker and Logan meet during the Vietnam War.

In Timeline Apocalypse (X-Men : Days of Future Past), Sentinels are deployed since 1973, the mutants are hunted for decades (=> 25Moments.com/TheBentBullet.com), William Stryker and Logan do not know each other when the war is over.

1) Timeline Trilogy : The Story of the X-Men saga unfolds exactly as we know it. Apocalypse (?) alters the past and causes a hellish chain of events (with the death of Azazel, Tempest, Riptide = breaking point = beginning of Mystique's crusade). Then we are switching to...

2) Timeline Apocalypse : The history of the X-Men saga occurred broadly. The death of Cyclops and Jean Grey are constants, the Battle of Alcatraz is a constant battle against the Wolverine Silver Samurai is a constant, etc ... In 2023, the mutants are on the verge of extinction. Wolverine is sent into the past to save the future. Then we are switching to ...

3) New Timeline : It begins with the events of X -Men : Days of Future Past (part of the film set in the past). The action of Wolverine saves the future. In 1973 , everything is now possible (=> X-Men : Apocalypse). In the future , all is possible too. Logan is now the only person on Earth who remembers the Timeline Apocalypse. Final scene of X -Men : Days of Future Past.

Sorry for my english.

When in doubt on things related to time travel, just use the same explanation we whovians use: Wibbly-Wobbly, timey-wimey

Saw the movie last night, it was so awesome, but the thing I want the most is that amazing painting Trask has in his office. :woot:

As long as Charles and Wolverine remember the previous timelines, they happened.
No need to throw out any DVD/blu rays just yet ;)

So have they actually cast an actor for Apoc? I was surprised they showed his face, so they could leave the casting open. The person almost looked like a female.

Soooo pumped to see the horsemen!

Apocalypse will be taking place in the decade after DoFP. In the next 10 years, I imagine En Sabah Nur will look different.

It may be a Thanos situation in that the actor cast as Apoc in DOFP will not play Apoc in the next film.

Got ya, so basically certain things from the original trilogy timeline happened and some didn't. But origins is still up in the air on if certain things from it happened or not, or if it happened at all I guess?

I think the only thing that could have possibly happened from Origins is that Logan got Adamantium. How he got that, when, who did it, and why? are all up in the air.

Then again we didn't see Logan pop his claws so he could have avoided Stryker and Program X altogether and met Xavier in a totally different way.

Does DOFP really directly contradict Origins? I know most fans want to throw that film out, but I didn't see anything that directly disproves its existence.

I know Mystique nabs Wolverine at the end, but I don't see how that negates him being given his adamantium by Stryker within the next ten years.

Did I miss something else?

Well it does show flashbacks to X2 which seems to be Singers way of saying "No, Origins, this is how he gets his adamantium." Then we never see him pop the claws in the new Future so we don't know if he has bone or adamantium claws.

Stryker being in the film and being that age I think kinda distorts why he looks so much older in Origins and we don't know what Mystique does with Logan. Does she help? Does she turn him over to Stryker? Does she drop him in a hotel to rot? We don't know.

Does anyone possibly believe that the 4 Horsemen of Apocalypse in the next film could be Emma, Banshee, Azazel and Angel? I feel like having Apocalypse go around and possess 4 mutants to be his horsemen on film could be time consuming and DOFP had enough cut as is, so maybe using these four as our Horsemen could be interesting/convenient since they're familiar characters. I also feel like they were going to play up the Mystique/Azazel/Nightcrawler thing but that was left on the cutting room floor in DOFP, and this might be a pretty good way to see that relationship unfold since it was a bit neglected (although slightly hinted at) in the film.

I don't blame Bryan for using X2 footage on the flashbacks; I never understood why they altered the look and style of the augmentation area. But Stryker still gave him the adamantium in both films, just not in the same way visually.

I don't think we'll know for sure until Apocalypse at this point.

In the comics...

Wolverine had his adamantium ripped out by Magneto. Eventually it was put back by Apocalypse, who also brainwashed him and turned him into one of his Horseman, who was called Death.

...so if he's not meeting up with Stryker, that may be what happened next.

Yeah, it could happen that way. Or they could just skip over the whole thing, since Apocalypse might take place after Stryker gave him the adamantium.

We only have to wait about two years to find out :oldrazz:

But it isnt Stryker that has Wolverine :)

I know. It's Mystique. But X2 never suggested that Stryker kidnapped Wolverine to begin with; Stryker said "you volunteered for the procedure". We just don't know what Mystique does with him yet after 1973.

This.

They haven't even casted young Cyclops, Jean, and Storm yet (or at least not made publically). We have at least two years until the next movie, and the script might not be finalized yet. I remember seeing a post on Facebook, that the person playing Apocalypse at the end is a model.

I think this is the case. My guess is come Apocalypse, En Sabah Nur will have a massively retooled design. Probably won't resemble this version much at all.

So who you guys think should play Apocalypse?

I'm sticking with my suggestion of Javier Bardem

Also with singers love of SciFi he could definitley have augmented parts. It would be cool to say it is Shi'ar tech and introduce them somehow that way :D also for apoc I dunno. I would have said Michael Clark Duncan but obviously not now, possibly Christopher Judge but It is bound to be a big name.

Kinsberg said that the Apoc you see at the end of DOFP was a tiny glimpse, and that wasn't even close to the Apoc we're getting in the next X-Men film. The interview is over at IGN if anyone wants to read it.

Kevin Durand. I love that guy.

Since you guys keep talking about Apocalypse and the actor portraying him in the credit scene. Let me just post this here to clear things up. From the site that shall not be named. A video from IGN with Simon Kinberg he said this.

X-Men: Days of Future Past ends with a flashback to Ancient Egyptian times as we see a young boy building the pyramids with his mutant powers. His worshippers are all chanting "En Sabah Nur," and four horsemen look on in the background. Does this mean that the Apocalypse in 2016's X-Men: Apocalypse will be a child? Nope. "The post-credit sequence is a tease into what will be the Apocalypse movie. Now the Apocalypse you see – that young boy – may not be the actor who plays the character in our movie," Kinberg explains in the video interview with IGN Movies above. "It’s a deep back story glimpse into the character, but our movie doesn’t take place in ancient Egypt and will likely not star a young boy Apocalypse.

Kevin Durand. I love that guy.

Durand would be fantastic.

But if they were to cast someone like Bardem or Durand, the Black Blogs will be enraged that a black man wasn't cast as Apocalypse because he's Egyptian.

If you are to accept comic characters changing to black (Use this as an example purely based on Human torch - I am not sure if its been done with others) then it goes both ways :)
