DC Animated - Superman/Batman: Apocalypse

It really sucks cause I thought wonder woman was the best of the DTV's out right now. But I have a feeling a lot of people don't give her a chance.

I think a live action movie done right with her could really spark a huge interest in heroines.

I agree on both points.

totally it just sucks that wb doesnt have any faith it seems in female characters lead driven projects.

You can't blame them though. When it comes to these DTV only Batman, Superman and JLA bring in high profitable numbers so that's what we get.

Yeah can't really blame WB. Blame the people for not buying it! :( Still atleast we get to see female characters in JLA movies, and if this is an adaptation of Supergirl arc, we get the female furies, WW, Artemis and Supergirl! Oh and Big Barda. :)

Agreed. Not enough people are intreseted in female led (comic book films). I still have a hunch that they will make another Wonder Woman DTV in the future, though, with a differnet approach.

Posted this at the Superman/Batman Apocalypse thread of toonzone forums since the complaint of regarding the line of DCU dtvs focusing mainly on supes/bats/jl rears its ugly head yet again, I thought I'll post my thoughts here on the matter...

We will eventually get our fair share of dcu animated films of other characters outside of supes/bats/jl in due time. We have green lantern, so that's a start, and if all goes according to plan, hopefully, w/ GL's success starts the wheels in motion w/ DCE's plans for flash, ww and aquaman as previously announced down the line also w/ each of their very own dcu film to coincide w/ their live action film debut.

Come to think of it, not only do we have the dc showcase shorts to present the more lesser known obscure characters but the same can also be said of batman the brave and the bold series. I know its not the same as a DCU animated film but as we all know it gets the job done bringing them out there and hopefully for the next generation w/ Batman as a tour guide to the DCU.

Even w/ the current line of dcu films of supe/bats/jl and the dc showcase shorts, you got to admit the quality just gets better every time.

Again, in due time, So, sit back, relax and enjoy the ride.

So far, I've enjoyed all the DC films I've seen (WW, GLFF, New Frontier, S/B:Public Enemies and JL:Crisis), but my favourite is GLFF, followed by WW.

Was it sales that knocked GLFF, or fan reaction? I loved it!

Sales, despite good sales numbers they wasn't satisfied and wanted public enemies/doomsday numbers meaning it didn't sale fast enough for them despite being a hit gradual success. They want instant and fast guaranteed success so far supes/bats/jl provides. Hopefully the green lantern film will changed that.

I've seen them all except Doomsday. Wonder Woman was surprisingly very violent. Speaking of which, why did Alexa go to Hell? She seemed like a nice girl, but she ends up a member of the army of the undead?

That's what happens when you read philosophy...

:woot:

Gods only accepted people into Elysium if you had led an extraordinary life, being a champion and whatnot whatnot. While she was a nice girl at heart, she was just a... Yeah a normal bookworm more or less, so thus she goes to Underworld, which you know most people do go when they die, whenever good, neutral or bad. I mean yeah the truly wretched evil smugs went to Tartarus, but most people did end up in Underworld.

Elysium is a place where Hippolyta or Diana would receive a place, but Alexa never get to do anything amazing to get her spot.

i hope it's absolute power. that was a fun story, and it was pretty big. supergirl would seem very meh. if they had added teh whole kingdom come/whtmot superman to the public enemies movie, it would've been a bit more interesting.

However its a double edged sword..

the only big titles we are getting have been batman/superman..

finally GL movie is lit..

If wonderwoman etc could get a big movie in her name, i guarentee that dvd would sale a **** load more.

Of course batman/superman are gonna sell, they get shoved down our throats (not that im complaining about that).

I just want wonderwoman/gl/flash to be shoved down my throat too.

In one giant orgasmic DC movie fest.

As long as the writing is there, and the director. I know any of those movies would be smashing hits, and the DTV's to follow would all be successes too.

dw4 totally i get the business end of things. It just sucks as a fan we dont get to see them happen.

Not as if WW did badly. Her&GLs overall sales have been better than JL:NF and they have made their budgets back. WB just wants the fast money which sucks. But this is why we never get anything out of SB since the public is rarely exposed to anyone but SB.

yea its all about the quick buck and it sucks, you think they would look at the overall total figures too.

One could argue that Warner Home Video sticking to "safe material" for DTV's is hardly different from what Marvel & Lion's Gate have done. Aside for "DOCTOR STRANGE", all of their DTV's have marketed "safe" material like Avengers, Iron Man, Hulk, and Thor (and even Wolverine). It all works in regards to their movie promotions. It's called synergy and WB helped invent that.

That said, this looks like another adaptation of one of Loeb's SUPERMAN/BATMAN stories, which means it'll be heavy on action and light on plot.

If Darkseid is indeed in this Michael Ironside better voice him.

I kind of really hope that this more of an original sequel than an adaptation of something. With the title being "Apocalypse", we all know Darkseid is gonna be in this.

I also hope that Nightwing is the character given a short with this one. Would be really cool to show the development of Dick Grayson into his own hero, attached to a film starring his mentor. The Green Arrow short should definitely be with Green Lantern over this, just to stick with tradition.

Me three. When it's original we really don't know how it's going to end up. Most of us knew what would(mostly) happen in Public Enemies.

One of the reasons why I enjoyed JL:CotE so much.

I really hope that Tim Daly and Kevin Conroy do the voices again this film too

well i am sure it was said before they would be doing it for this dtv.
