DC Animated - Superman/Batman: Apocalypse

you know, I scammed through the first two pages (while trying to pay attention to an episode of Batman Beyond in the background) and I knew it was going to be right in front of me. Of course, the information I'm looking for was on the same damn page (to make it even worse, I noticed it five seconds before seeing your reply)

I suck

and thanks akfj

Awesome cover, but I wanna know how the actual movie is going to look. Turner's art doesn't lend itself easily to animation. But it's doable. If they actually put effort into it it'd easily look the best out of all the DTVs.

I think the character designs will look somewhat like they did in Turner's arc, but I dont think they'll try to be as faithful to his artwork as they were with Darwyn Cooke's in New Frontier, just because it wouldn't look quite as good animated as Cooke's artwork.
But I love that cover. I liked the arc, so I dont mind it being adapted, but just from the title, it seems like they'll be focusing more on the Darkseid/Apokolips stuff than on Supergirl.

The DVD artwork has been released:

So, as you can see this will be an adaptation of "The Supergirl from Krypton". Also of note, it is scheduled to be released on September 28, 2010.

Kickass cover art .

As a Supergirl fan, I was looking forward to this. From the look of Kara on the cover and the title, I really shouldn't get my hopes up. I guess I'll just get it and replace the cover with this

I don't know much about this project but notice that Darkseid is on the cover. I take it him and Superman should be getting into some epic fights...maybe they should take a cue from this on how to properly do a villian and action in a Superman live action film.

I love the July/September releases. There's so little wait between movies.

That fight isn't a big part of the story really but they'll probably beef it up at the expense of something else.

[BLACKOUT]There is the amazons against an army of Doomsdays, Artemis vs Batman and Supergirl vs Superman. I think if they put the first one about half way through they should be OK pace-wise. There should be a least half an hour before Kara goes with Wonder Woman.[/BLACKOUT]

I'm REALLY looking forward to this scene, easily the BEST of 'em: Batman vs Darkseid in a battle of wits! Hope they do it justice! :D :anime: ;)

I love these animated movies. With Smallville ending after Season 10 they should do an animated Justice League show in the Smallville Universe ?

would be cool for smallville fans, but not likely a thing wb premiere/wb animation will want to do.

Doesn't take away the fact that I would like an original story that I(and everyone else) have no idea how it's going to end.

Yeah but this division was not made for this, and we do get the shorts and have gotten Wonder Woman(Original) Green Lantern:First Flight(Original) Gotham Knights(Original). So I mean you can say you want Original all you want but those are three lowest selling DTV's, so what does that say?

It doesn't say much because the originality factor really hasn't much to do with it. Wonder Woman was obviously not popular enough but it is regarded as the best DCU movie so far. Green Lantern overall just wasn't really good to be honest and DC thought Green Lantern would be more popular. And uhhh...Batman: Gotham Knight was the highest selling one other than Superman: Doomsday....

Not true about Gotham Knight, that's the second-highest grossing DVD behind Superman Doomsday.

That's your opinion.

From "b. t."... ;)

i'm not gonna answer EVERY bit of speculation, obviously -- but:

seems to me wonder woman plays an important and practically essential part of the comic's storyline -- can't really imagine doing an adaptation of the story without her -- that is, IF we were doing an adaptation of it

also, i like ashley tisdale and scarlett johansen too -- maybe someday i'll get to work with them

(and remember, i was never here)

I'm not saying this is fact or the exact reason why the Wonder Woman and Green Lantern animated films didn't sell well but I bet they would have done better if they came out after live action films.

As everyone knows WB has been lagging on getting the DC properties other than Batman and Superman, made into live movies. I bet most of the GA doesn't really know who Green Lantern is and Wonder Woman has been out of the loop for so long i'm also willing to bet a lot of younger generations aren't as familiar with her yet compared to past generations.

I don't know what possible reason there is to explain this but has anyone else noticed that while Green Lantern and Wonder Woman aren't that well known these days, almost everybody knows The Flash? I think a Flash DTV could really clean up if they got the right voice actor and story.

Same with Aquaman to a lesser extent. Everyone knows him, albeit for being lame (which could easily be disproven if the movie is promoted correctly).

I would love to see Josh Keaton return to voice a solo Flash DTV. Maybe even bring back Michael Rosenbaum from the JL/JLU to voice him, I loved his Wally West.

They really need to do a Flash animated movie.

They will, as long as they can get off their asses and make a great live action movie like they're (hopefully) doing with Green Lantern. Getting the general audience to actually be able to recognize the character would be a huge part of the DTV actually being successful, and a blockbuster live action movie is a big part of that. Hopefully the new DC Entertainment division actually means buisness and Geoff Johns can shepherd a Flash movie into production. Soon. Until then, we just have to be very, very patient.

As much as I loved Smallville, I don't want to see their version of JLA animated. They got way to many characterization errors.
