DC Animated - Superman/Batman: Apocalypse

Tim Daly and Kevin Conroy reprise their roles as Superman and Batman, respectively

Summer Glau is nice and all, but thats the best part of the article.

The return of Tim Daly and Kevin Conroy plus Summer Glau! This sounds great!

I'm REALLY looking forward to this scene, easily the BEST of 'em: Batman vs Darkseid in a battle of wits! Hope they do it justice! :D :anime: ;)

YES !!! Now all we need is Michael Ironside back as Darkseid . I gotta say I'm greatly looking forward to Summer Glau as Kara Zor-El/Supergirl . :woot:

Completely agreed. They fit those characters so well.

I am still hoping one of these days we go back to the DCAU, not necessarily JL/JLU but Superman/Batman.

George Newbern did a great job as Superman, too. I wouldn't mind if they brought him back for 1 of the movies.

First I hear Batman Year One is getting the Animated treatment... and now its cancelled is it?

Batman Year One confirmed among others as well...

In related news, Warner Home Video has recently issued several new titles for upcoming home video releases from the studio. The following titles added to Warner Home Video's upcoming slate of releases, in relation to upcoming related animated projects, include Green Lantern: Emerald Knights, Batman: Year One and Superman/Batman: Apocalypse. DC Showcase is still listed by Warner Home Video as an upcoming title. Titles Batman & Superman 75th Anniversary Collection and DC 75th Anniversary Theme Compilation are also listed, but there is no designation on whether these releases are live-action or animated. Warner Home Video is also producing a documentary on the 75th anniversary of DC Comics. Stay tuned for further updates here soon at The World's Finest.

Wow, so unless you are named Batman or Superman, or having a movie coming out, you will not have a DC home video based on you.

Nice...

^ I'm hoping for a Flash movie, but this is a business. They're in it to make money. Batman, Superman and JL make money. If people want to change that they need to go out and buy a ****load of Wonder Woman and Green Lantern dvds. :woot:

I also want another Superman solo movie. I'm surprised there's only been 1. Batman's had 2 (Gotham Knight, Red Hood) and about to have 3 (Year One).

that does seem to be the case right now kbx, due to how others have faired and dc/wb adverse to do certain others. So it looks to be just bats/supes/ who ever is getting a film out, and then we are lucky for what ever shorts we are getting.

Official press release is out:

Seeing an opportunity to finally defeat Superman, Darkseid abducts and gains control of Kara, utilizing the powerful Kryptonian to do his bidding. In addition to the feature film, the Superman/Batman: Apocalypse Special Edition Blu-Ray™ and 2-Disc Special Edition DVD include the third DC Showcase animated short, Green Arrow. Screenwriter Greg Weisman’s story finds Oliver Queen at the Star City International Airport to pick up his girlfriend, only to be forced into action as Green Arrow to protect the 10-year-old Princess of Vlatava from his old nemesis Merlyn the Magnificent and the League of Assassins. The short features the voices of Neal McDonough (Desperate Housewives) and Malcolm McDowell (Entourage). Bruce Timm is executive producer.

Superman/Batman: Apocalypse Special Edition Blu-Ray™ will include more than 2 1/2 hours of intriguing bonus features, starting with all of the content available on the 2-Disc Special Edition DVD and adding:

* 2 additional bonus TV series episodes handpicked by Bruce Timm

Braughter as Darkseid is an interesting choice. Now I wonder if Ironside wasn't available if they brought back Asner as Granny Goodness...

Yeah I understand it about being a business. Batman and Superman is the way to go, and derservingly so. Just it was a breath of fresh air once Wonder Woman and First Flight came about. But hey your right, its about the bottom line. Oh an Im sure once that Superman reboot comes about, we will get another one from him.

Okay, enough. None of this is stuff we didn't know before. We dont need every poster reiterating their same pissed off view on this for every page. Warner Bros. is actually trying to make money here, they're trying to have a sense of synergy between characters being done in live action on the big screen and their DTVs, as you can see with Green Lantern. Since DC Entertainment seems like they're doing their best to bring characters to the big screen soon, it's only a matter of time before we see Flash/WW/etc. get their own DTVs. Just be patient.

It wouldnt matter now anyway. WB is just interested in quick money. Why they have the mindframe that WW or any other hero should sell as quickly/big as Superman and or Batman boggles my mind. They still have made a nice profit off of WW/GL, it just takes a little bit longer for them to gain bigger numbers.

And of course Superman will get another film pretty soon. But they have changed their minds about bringing different heroes to the limelight in these dtvs unless they are the co-feature film.

It also sucks at how standard the 2disc is becoming while the BluRay gets a whole extra hour of features and 3 more good features.

I'm glad Ed Asner is back as Granny Goodness. I'm just not sure if Andre Braugher can top Ironside's Darkseid.

Yeah it's weird that they brought everyone back except Ironside. He must of not been interested or available unfortunately. Maybe Timm can comment on it.

People need to start accepting that blu-ray is replacing DVD so of course blu-ray will get more things as it can hold more. In several years DVD will probably be obsolete. You can get DVDs so cheap nowadays it isn't even funny.

I doubt Blu-Ray will become the new DVD while DVD becomes the new VHS. Sure Blu-Ray holds more, but these features easily fit on dvd but they are just trying to force Blu-Ray down our throats.

I hope in the near future of DC Universe Animated Original Movies line up
Batman : Knightfall , Batman : TLH and Batman : Hush gets animated .

It's not just that, blu-ray is going to become the "new" DVD of 10 years ago. DVD won't necessarily go the way of VHS but it's dropping quick. There is a reason blu-ray sales continue to go up monthly. The difference in picture quality is quite impressive to be honest.
