Dc Comics Solicitations For May 2008

Why the hell would anyone let Jones within five yards of Checkmate :csad:

And what's this I see on the cover of Titans #2? Does it mean Roy is leaving the League? Because I'd really prefer they just give his spot to Ollie and get it over with.

Yep, I'm pretty sure he leaves the league. And Ollie just joined the Outsiders, so he's out I think.

I fear for Checkmate :(

Just saw the Checkmate solicit and nearly screamed. Jones better have his head on straight for this fill-in.

I'm really bored of the Black Mercy flower already. Way to take a really good idea and basically mass-produce it into triteness. :down

Blue Beetle looks great. I've been wanting to see more of Traci 13 for a while now. :)

Tom Peyer's Flash solicitation sounds pretty good. I always love a throwdown with Grodd. If we can just get Freddie Williams off, the Flash comic might be back on its way to becoming something special again.

Corpy, we don't know if it's a fill-in or not, he could be the new writer. It's a 5 issue arc.

No I don't think that Roy (and Wally) will be leaving the League for the Titans.

Winnick stated that the Titans aren't a formal team like the other teams are, but more like friends out there to watch each others back and be there for one another.

What the **** are they the Babysitter's Club?

Drop the book like the rest of us. I mean, Checkmate barely makes it into the top 100 if ever, they will not be able to handle this type of sales dip.

Yeah, but then it'd probably be canceled, which means Rucka couldn't come back to it even if he wanted to. :(

Let me tell you something you apparently haven't noticed. When Rucka leaves a book, he doesn't come back.

I'm just trying to keep you from falling apart.

Does Rucka have a message board or some public e-mail address or something? I need to ask him if he's planning to come back to Checkmate. I think I can weather a Jones arc if I know Rucka's just around the next bend...

You didn't read the Livejournal blog post I linked to?

I haven't even looked at the first page of this thread, so incensed was I at seeing Jones' name under Checkmate's title. I'll look now.

Hahahahaha, I just read it! Holy ****, #25 is so my last ****ing issue of Checkmate. Then I'll probably go kill myself! :D :D :D :D :D

Also, I think "Batman RIP," based on the solicitation for May's Batman issue, may just mean that Bruce Wayne is gonna fall in love and get over his parents' death, thus 'killing' Batman.

So, basically, a repeat of the Batman: Mask of the Phantasm plot.

Same here. I mean, I'm all for Mongul getting some of his Pre-Crisis glory back, and being established as an actual heavy hitter for the first time in, what, 30 years? But there are better ways to do it than using that darn weed over and over again. Just give him back his old school energy manipulation powers, teleportation, telepathy, and reaffirm his high status on the strength & invulnerability-o-meter.

Hopefully his "Spotlight" issue will do at least one of those things. :csad:

I bet Checkmate has already been canceled, they are just doing what they did with Aquaman (it was canceled before Tad took over they just didn't tell him).

I'm all for the real mongul coming back, killing his son, and being a powerful mofo like he was before....

Post Crisis, Mongul Sr. was never a powerful mofo. Being beaten up by a depowered Superman in his first appearance, and becoming Hank Henshaw's b**ch, aren't feats to brag about. As for destroying Coast City, it was done with the push of a button, which the Cyborg could've gotten any random goon to do for him, so that's pretty unimpressive as well. And, other than raw strength, where Jr. is doubtlessly the superior, there's no actual difference between the father and son, aside from the stories that they've been involved in; and as crappy as both of their characterizations have always been, Mongul Jr. is the one with the more impressive resume' by far, sadly, and therefore is the one with the most potential to actually live up to his Silver Age namesake.

Conclusion: There's no reason whatsoever why Daddy has to come back to kill his son. :o

Rucka confirms all our worst fears....

#25 will be the last issue of Checkmate for me.

EDIT: Seriously DC, you might as well cancel the book right after that issue hits. This is ****ing sickening. Of all the writers in the world, at DC, freaking Bruce Jones. Hell, I'd take Adam Beechen over Bruce Jones.

Jesus.:csad:

Someone hold me. Maybe now he can do a Mademoiselle Marie mini? Crap, who am I kidding....sadness.

It's crazy to think DC can get something so right like Robinson on Superman and then turn around and do this.

Return of Jason Todd Octopus Monster, that's why.:o
Goddammit, I'd forgotten about that. Jesus, here comes Amanda Waller the Face-Devourer.

So is that Death of Batman thing sort of like Marvel Death of Captain America?
No, it's a ******ed rumor that never had any merit.

After how crappy and disappointing Morrison's run has been, he better not cap it off with Bruce's death. :cmad:
It was disappointing for awhile there, but I think it's finally gonna go in the directions he intended to, post-Resurrection.

Does it mean Roy is leaving the League?
Not necessarily.

Why is there a goddamn Batman manga? And why is Sodam Yat, the ultimate Green Lantern, the current Ion, everyone's *****?
