Dc Comics Solicitations For May 2008

I wonder why Rucka left. I think DC would've been happy to keep him on.

I don't know, Rucka says otherwise, but you get the feeling from hearing him and reading interviews that he just wasn't too happy with DC at the time.

And DC really didn't do much to market it. Also, he wasnted to have The Question in the title, and DC went with Crime Bible. To paraphrase what he said, how are fans of Renee supposed to know she's in the book.

Sounds like to me Rucka is walking away rather than DC not keeping him on it.

Rucka likes killing and ending his projects.

He said about that on Word Balloon, that the title is 52 Aftermath: Crime Bible: Five Lessons of Blood. Is just a stupidly long title without telling anyone what is in the book.

Plus, the Renee Question just fails - DC made such an error killing off Vic.

I'm a fan of Renee, I knew she was in the book, and I still didn't buy it. I may get the trade now that I'm sufficiently over Rucka's shoehorning her into a superhero role. But I'll still have to brace myself for Token Lesbia--I mean Batwoman's appearances.

Wait a minute. How are you two possibly complaining about Crime Bible's lack of sales when you very purposely made a point of not buying it?

I didn't complain about Crime Bible's sales. I posited that maybe that's part of why Rucka is scaling back his involvement with DC.

Well, no one wants that. But, really, there wasn't anything unclear about Darthphere's and my conversation...

Drunk with power. You try talking to Summer Glau for a minute and not feeling like you just took over America.

Seriously, read the entire top half of this page. It reads completely, 100% like you're btching at DC for Rucka's book not selling well.

Um no, because i specifically stated that "Rucka said....". Have a cup of coffee.

It reads like we're discussing hypotheticals for why Rucka's leaving Checkmate and not doing much DC work in general in the future to me.

Well hey, if BW can read a Joss Whedon comic and see good writing, he can see anything.:o :o :o :o :o :o

Which you followed with a complaint, from yourself, about DC not promoting it.

Yes, it's called stating facts, something Rucka also mentions in the Word Balloon podcast, DC didn't promote the book at all. You cannot argue that. There was not an instance where I was complaining that DC didn't promote it, I just made a factual statement saying that DC didn't promote it.

Now, if I said, "Yeah, it sucks that DC didn't promote it" we're talking a whole different ball game.

Seriously, take a nap.

Ah...what? Rucka didn't say that DC didn't promote the book. He said that he didn't like how they promoted it. More to the point, why in the world would you "state facts" in a discussion if you don't actually agree with the facts? You didn't say "Yeah it sucks that DC didn't promote it," no, but you really didn't sound as partial as you think you did.

My whole point in the first place was how cockdiculous it was for two people who made a big point of not buying the book in the first place to be now complaini...excuse me, stating facts about how the book didn't sell and how DC didn't promote it enough. It's like...dude.

Well neither is our fault, so i don't see why you're worked up about it. We didn't buy the book for reasons other than the lack of promotion, and even if we did buy the book, it would've sold like **** anyway, so what exactly is your problem?

Why is it that you're the only one thinking we were complaining? Because we weren't.

having just read this page and being impartial to this argument, id have to say youre wrong here BW. they were merely discussing probable motives for Rucka leaving Checkmate, not b****ing. their b****ing tends to have a bit more style to it, thats how you can tell.
