DC Relaunching Everything? - Part 5

Yes, because it would be a stupid fashion statement to make. :o

Well, I've been buying Detective since 73, so it was just habit. The rest are the books I was already getting before the reboot.

To me, I'm looking at it like this: what I like will never come back, but I'm gonna read Morrison's Superman regardless. And I'll get some Hawkman stories out of it. And maybe even an Earth-2 JSA. So anything I like is a huge, huge plus. And now that the books that I've bought all my life (Action, Superman, Detective, Batman) all have broken runs just like every other title, I can quit anytime and not feel obligated.
That's a fine way to look at it.

But still, drop Detective, GL, and JL for better books.

She's in all the #1s but I am just wondering if she'll be in every issue of every book till we find out who she is or if she'll just vanish after the last of the #1s.

Any ideas on who the girl in the hood is?
I'm assuming she's DC's get-out-of-jail-free card if sales don't continue to stay up. She'll turn out to be the manifestation of universal order and reset the universe to the way it's supposed to be (i.e. a universe that might reel some of the longtime fans who quit with this relaunch back). Something like that.

So I bought both Legions this week and I must say, I'm on board. I'm a little disappointed that they made references to the Saturn Queen. Why must all my favorite DC heroes be branded villains after long heroic careers?

Anywho... at one point the Legionnaires mention something about the Flashpoint effect screwing up time. Just an Easter egg but worth mentioning.

Buy the Legion books.

Saturn Queen was always a villain. She's the evil analogue of Saturn Girl. Like Cosmic King/Cosmic Boy and Lightning Lord/Lightning Lad

...no offense...but why on earth...would a blue V instead of a red V convince you to buy a comic?

Haha, that would be pretty stupid. Its not really an issue, I just prefer the blue V, so I thought i'd b**** about it for a second. It in no way affects me buying the title or not. I generally buy books based on who the writer is. I just found this book kind of...ok. I'm still on the fence, but I'll probably get issue two.

The new costume looks kind of cool, I think. I'm actually glad the streak across his costume actually forms a shape now. I always thought it was weird that he just decided to put a giant blue V across the front and back of his costume before.

Anyway, I thought Nightwing was good. Not mind-blowing, but why does everything need to be mind-blowing? People claim to be annoyed with events and just want to see solid stories that aren't interrupted every five issues in the ongoing series, yet Nightwing looks to be giving us solid ongoing stories and now that's not good enough?

I finally have time to go to my shop, and pick up some books. Any suggestions for some #1s? I'm more of a Batman fan, so I heard the new Batman was probably the best out of the reboots. Besides Batman, what else should I be looking for?

4. JLA or I guess "JL" since tradition and America apparently sucks-very meh.
I never really cared for the "of America" in Justice League. It doesn't really make sense like in the Justice Society of America when you have a Martian police officer, the Princess of Themyscira, the King of Atlantis, the representative of Sector 2814 in an intergalactic police force. Unlike the Justice Society, "of America" really doesn't reflect the Justice League.

5. Green Lantern-heroes do not ask their GF's to sign on car loans for them. This book sucked ass.
He kinda had no choice considering that all of his time spent in space has resulted in him being unable to meet his financial obligations.

You should absolutely buy Batwoman issue one as it was excellent and the best comic book from DC this month. The art alone is a good enough reason to buy it but the characters and writing are also absolutely fab

All the DC Dark books have been great I would really recommend Frankenstein and Demon Knights

Stormwatch was :awesome: sauce

And both Batgirl and Catwoman were good fun books that will be worth checking out I think. Especially as you like the Bat characters

Yeah. Cause it was pretty much what it was before. I liked that it seemed to have even more of a Mexican influence.

Although Paco was a bit too rough around the edges for me.

I think I'll be picking up the next issue. I loves Jaime :hrt:

I just didn't know how this reboot was going to land. Legion continuity is more difficult than Donna Troy.

I was sad to see most of the Waid stuff didn't survive. I liked it when Colossal Boy's power was to shrink.

I loved Waid's LoSH. First time I really got into the team. I like them a lot more as a youth movement against the stagnation they see in their parents' generation than a bunch of kids who decided to be superheroes to ape Superman.

Waid's run was good but I'm loving Levitz Legion of Superheroes stories at the moment. Definitely one of my favourite runs so far and I really dug the first issue of the new series and I can't wait to read the next :hrt:

I liked the first Legion issue but Legion Lost hit the ground running. I'm liking this one a little more than the Legion Prime issue. But in fairness, Legion Prime has to setup more of the entire franchise.

EDIT: Just read the solicits and my post is now irrelevant. =[

I admit LoSH has me lost.. but then I missed the reintroduction of whatever Legion version they'd brought back to life. It's the Pre-Crisis one right? I need to find back issues before I can fully enjoy them.

Finally got around to reading my little sister's copy of Batgirl #1 (my older bro got her a copy and is gonna get the series for her since she liked it), and it was good. Didn't do much for me but there were some character moments for Babs that I felt was good. Simone is gonna do her justice I think. Don't feel a need to read the title regularly, though.

I assumed it was the same slightly aged Silver Age version Johns reintroduced in his Action Comics run. Is that not true?

Yes. Some of Waid's graphic style remained but the characters are for the most part the Levitz team.

How smarmy is this version of Brainiac, on a scale from 1 to 10, with 1 being Superman as the ultimate boy scout and 10 being Stephen Hawking talking to a 3-year-old?

7 so far. Not full on *****e yet. But we only got so much in the first issue. He reminds me of the era right before he fell in love with Supergirl.
