Yea, my comic shop also had a midnight release for Flashpoint #5. That was meh, but I didn't read the first 4 issues. But even so, it felt lazy. Some giant floating head that, apparently, never made an appearance before this issue says that the three timelines need to be merged together. Were these three timelines mentioned previously? Otherwise, I didn't care about the issue at all. I only bought it for 2 reasons. 1: to be entered into a raffle my comic shop was having. I lost. and 2. Project Superman #3 implied **** was gonna get real in Flashpoint #5. It didn't. Which made those 3 issues pretty meaningless to me.
Justice League was also meh. Nothing really happens, and only reaffirms why I don't give a crap about Jim Lee's artwork. All flash, no substance. And it reaffirms why I don't really care for Geoff Johns. His writing doesn't do it for me, but I'll probably give Aquaman #1 a shot. And as someone who is hardly a casual fan of Green Lantern (I've only read the early Hal Jordon appearances from the 50's), I don't recall Hal being that much of a nitwit. I mean, i know he's not a totally serious character, but he was kind of obnoxious in this book, which is also a reason I didn't like the movie. Hal, at least in his earlier appearances, was a bit more straight laced. Whatever. I'll probably give it another issue(Batman and Superman beating the piss out of each other...::sighs:: why?) before dropping it. If the first issue of the DCNU can't kick my ass and suck me in, I'm not paying 4 bucks for what should have been a great comic. Atleast next week we get Action Comics#1, which will hopefully kick some butt.
