DC Relaunching Everything? - Part 5

That could be an interesting storyline. I wonder if anything like that will happen in Multiversity as its all about the Multiverse
I doubt it since Multiversity is more about the individual universes within the Multiverse. Morrison has confirmed that we will be getting issues based on Earth-4, Earth-5, Earth-10, Earth-20, Earth-Prime, and an undesignated Earth that features the 90's versions of heroes like Connor Hawke, Wally West, and Kyle Rayner, and have the final two issues tie the plot together (that will also involve other universes such as Earth-26). And this was all mentioned two years before DC even announced the post-Flashpoint universe.

Like I said, I seriously want to go up to a DC panel and ask them if they actually merged universes into New Earth. When the hell is the next one?

Something just popped up in my head. Before Flashpoint, Dwayne McDuffie merged New Earth with the Milestone universe. And then in Flashpoint, the mysterious woman tells Barry to merge the timelines, but instead it looks more like Barry merged Earth-13 (Vertigo titles based on DC owned characters like Swamp Thing, Animal Man, John Constantine, Shade the Changing Man, and Death being shown) and Earth-50 (WildStorm universe) into New Earth.

I wonder if DC will actually explain if three universes within the DC Multiverse, are potentially missing. And are there any repercussions of such a thing. I kinda wish that I could go up to them and ask them that.

If I had to guess (and this is totally a guess), I might suggest that the timelines merged were disparate timelines within the New Earth dimension--not separate dimensions within the 52.

That is to say, Earths 13 and 50 are still out there, independent, and what Barry incorporated back into New Earth were timelines unique to that dimension that had become separated.

The implication here, of course, is that multiple timelines can exist within any of the 52 dimensions, which is basically like saying there are infinite possible worlds.

It's also possible, as you say, that they just decided to merge those three worlds, and now there's only 50.

Well the reason why I'm thinking this is because they've already merged New Earth with the Milestone Universe in McDuffie's Justice League of America: When World's Collide. But we also have the post-COIE DC Universe which was a merged Earth consisting of the former Earth-1, Earth-2, Earth-4, Earth-S, and Earth-X. And then in Infinite Crisis, Alexander Luthor recreated the Multiverse, but when his equipment was destroyed, the new Multiverse collapsed and merged into the post-COIE Earth and formed New Earth (and in an act of self-preservation created yet another new Multiverse). So the concept of merged Earth's doesn't seem far-fetched at all.

And then in Flashpoint you have the mysterious shrouded woman showing Barry Allen the separate timelines, but they don't look like separate timelines. They look specifically like the Vertigo Earth-13 and WildStorm Earth-50.

Now I can understand seeing the Vertigo DC characters being interpreted as a separate timeline because before Flashpoint, Animal Man, Death, Swamp Thing, and John Constantine have already been re-integrated into New Earth. But the WildStorm Universe is another story. Everytime the DC Universe has dealt with the WildStorm universe (such as when Mr. Majestic was in Superman or Captain Atom: Armageddon), they were portrayed as clearly separate universes with no real integration of the two universe until now. WildStorm just seems far too different to be a separate timeline.

I hate when some of the more interesting vampire stuff is ignored (like the OCD counting or the needing to be invited in thing), but those are minor details, more or less. Not dying in sunlight, however, is THE main limitation of a vampire, and to ignore that along with just about everything else, it becomes so unrecognizable that you might as well not call it a "vampire".

The whole dying in sunlight thing wasn't even part of the lore before 1922. Not defending the lameness of Twilight just stating.

Hm... after reading that, maybe I'll pick up Detective #1--against my better judgement.

This is your last chance, Tony Daniel.

I want DC Universe Presents when that comes out. I needs some Deadman. :o:up:

But it should have been a 1 and done type of format. Always. For that type of book it only makes sense. The fact that that is a 5 part starting story is utterly ******ed when it is a monthly book that is supposed to showcase more than 1 star/main character in the span of its life.

Damn, what's with all the good reviews on Detective? That's like the second or third one I've read.

I may get the first issue. :o

This doesn't change my wanting Stormwatch.

The book I'm anticipating the most is Teen Titans.

I got to look through the issue pretty quickly at my shop, I didn't really get to read through it but the art is looking awesome and the last page is insane.

Aquaman for me. I really, really hope Johns actually writes some great stories for Arthur in addition to selling lots of comics (which is pretty much a given for the series, at least for its first few issues).

Aquaman is going to be fun from the looks of things. Aquaman fighting sea monsters and being bad ass and heroic

You should have read the murder mystery I wrote for the Survivor I hosted a season or two ago. I had players trying to bathe off the disgust for weeks :)

You've impressed me

Now i shall help you destroy the one ring in return

I'm just glad to hear that there is more Milestone in the universe besides Static and his mentor Hardware. Really hope it leads to more Xombi. Cus we all need more Xombi in our lives.

Truth :hrt:

team charlie imo

Any sensible person would be on Team Charlie considering how much **** Bella gives him. He's the real victim of Twilight :o

Poor Charlie

He's getting no love from Bella because he can't sparkle :csad:

He should have just bought a ton of body glitter

I'll still skim it but that small review likely helped me decide to skip Stormwatch. But now I'm even more interested in Detective, Animal Man, Batgirl, and Swamp Thing

I can see it now. Bella comes home from a typical date with edward to find a sensual candlelit room, with soft music playing, and charlie just waiting on the couch in nothing but glitter. She's never noticed how toned and in shape he is for a mature man. He rises to meet her, in more than one way, and before she can say a word, his finger hushes her. The warmth of real human flesh is surprisingly refreshing, so much that she can't help but to become excited.

Definitely agreed. That six issue run was really fun and Irvings artwork was magical. I really hope DC starts that back up again in the second wave.

I can't wait for my face to be smashed by Animal Man tomorrow. If I am going to buy just 1 book from the New 52 it would be that. Superhero/family/horror comic book? I'm in! And the rave reviews its been getting. WOW.
