DC Relaunching Everything? - Part 6

I'm still waiting for my all time favorite Legionnaire, Saturn Girl. She's one of the Big 3 and always the voice of reason when boys get all macho and ****.

If I had to pick a second favorite, I've always loved that damn hothead, Ultra Boy. Plus I always loved his power gimmick. So Silver Age. So brazenly awesome.

You know what? I think I need an Ultra Boy shirt. :D

I'd concentrate on your love of Brainiac in the interim. You'll prolly gravitate to someone else after a while of character interaction.

Well I liked both the Legion Books. I liked how Legion Lost kinda jumped right into it without explaining much. Being a longtime fan of the Legion, I didn't need a primer. I already liked Wildfire and Dawnstar.

I didn't like the fact that Wildfire's mask isn't the round face dome thingy anymore. I like the classic.

I've read more than enough Legion to have another character grab my attention. They haven't. Just wish I knew why.

The Legion Lost lineup is fixed for it's run. Might appeal to you. That is weird though.

I thought I was gonna love LL, as both Pete Woods and Fabian are awesome.

But I was very disappointed.

I didn't have high expectations but man did Firestorm let me down. Just UgH.

Read Superman #1. Verdict: cool.

Nice to see someone pack a decent amount of content into a single issue; that's all to rare these days.

Grant Morrison on Supergods, Action, Writing Batman Marvel Style, and comics in general.

Grant Morrison said:
No not really, they want him to eat burgers I suppose, maybe he lives on apple pie, that's all he eats and that's what gives him his powers – apple pie and spinach! But also I mean, Superman doesn't have to eat.

They're still great, you know when you're a kid everything's great and a good comic would be as great as anything else but they're not there and I think they've also got a bit of a reputation again, like they are corruptors of children, and they're not necessarily good for your kids. You know, I get these big boxes in from DC every month and they're just filling up the rooms and we want to take them to a hospital or something, but you think, there's a lot of these you can't hand in, there's no way! Imagine some poor child suffering in bed and then they're forced to read this thing where Arsenal is injecting himself with a cat! It's not the sort of thing kids would be really drawn to I think, you know, so a lot of them just aren't appropriate.

I don't think he hates him for being white but because he thinks he is ignorant and because he thinks Ronnie is getting an easy ride just because he's good at sports

Sorry you didnt dig it Kitsune :csad:
But he made a big deal over the fact that Ronnie was white and implied that he wouldn't be a quarterback if he wasn't, and then he tried to write a smear article in the school paper. Ronnie who wasn't written as particularly interesting, was at least not as obnoxious. Personally I never liked Jason in the first place, but that was mainly because of the way Ronnie was replaced. It's really rather ironic it a meta sort of way that Jason thinks Ronnie got his position for the color of his skin.

Aquaman is the best title so far. I've always liked Aquaman, I hope Johns and Reis stay for a long while. I want to see Captain Marvel and Power Girl brought back somehow.

Terrible f***ing comic. Be glad you never read Jason's Firestorm series because this pretty much spat on all the characters that that series did such a great job with.

Soon as I knew they were doing a complete reboot I decided to avoid it.

I liked how Firestorm started. It was an interesting take where the geek is actually the one doing the bullying to the undeserving jock. But then the end was just stupid.

I couldn't understand why anyone would want to read about Ronnie or Jason ever again by the end of the issue. They're both totally unlikable jerkwads in this wacky relaunch.

I must be a freak. I'm diggin' it.

Me too but I'm also a big Legion fan and one of the things I could say about their books is that they're not very new reader accessible. I think that's why so many people disliked them.

Oh and Voodoo was quite a surprise, another book added to the pull list. DC is officially getting $16 more a month from me now compared to before the relaunch. I didn't think it possible.

I didn't expect a reboot at all considering they kept saying that Brightest Day was still canon. This was a really weird book and lack of professor Stein made it even weirder. Gail Simone has been the most disappointing writer to me this relaunch. I'm giving both her books a couple of more issues to see if they go anywhere but honestly wouldn't hesitate to drop them if they don't either.

Yes

Yes you do

Ultra Boy is getting some love in the current Legion story Franklin I think that you'll dig it

So it wasn't just me. Good to know.

They've both got some major personality flaws

Jason is judgemental and has a pretty big chip on his shoulder about 'jocks'

And Ronnie has obviously got anger issues

But I'm hoping that they'll be able to overcome those as the series goes on.

...

Maybe I'm being optimistic there :csad:

Read Fury of Firestorm last night before going to bed. All I could do is flip back to the cover and go "...THOSE two co-wrote this?". And the inking style annoyed the HELL out of me! It was like regular inking style, but with graphite pencils instead.

I read Tiny Titans before going to bed last night and had a dream about going on adventures with Miss Martian and Robin

The moral of this story is that Tiny Titans is good for you :)
